Cantonese:
Stupid and meaningless move.

In the first place, were the products purchased with public or looted funds? If the products were purchased by business people, using their own personal resources, where did the Kano government find the power to confiscate the products. Or are they termed “contraband”. In the end, the reckless government will face litigations and payments for such moves.

The same was experienced under Buhari as a military head of state in 1984. In the name of essential commodities, the then FG confiscated goods worth billions from private warehouses. Nothing was achieved in the end, except more Buhari induced poverty.

Governments are known to have price control boards. We have it on paper in Nigeria. Inflation has been on a run away. Is it the fault of commodity sellers. While I am not holding brief for them, it is no longer a secret that APC has failed monumentally since 2015.

In the name of getting the naira to find its true value, the country has gone from one mess to another.

Why not deal with corruption in high places? Why not end crude stealing effectively. What is the essence of borrowing from China, USA, UK and maybe very soon Guinea Bissau? Now we are told that the same Dangote and PH refineries that we have been expecting to work, cannot receive adequate quantities of crude to refine. They have given out the future.

Jagbajantis intete.
Your point is meaningless, you and I know exactly what these people are doing, let’s not play politics and start calling or mentioning one party because as far as I am concerned they all the same so it’s better we face them individually.
Back to the matter, why do you think we unregulated prices..? What do you think when you buy an item today at a specific amount and the next day it increases by 50% then the following day another 50-100%??
In some places on the same street, people sell items at different prices and no one will complain u either buy or leave.
I think the government have already failed in all ramifications not just from this government or just the Apc but all our leaders altogether. 60years we can’t solve power problem, no goood roads, bad policies over the years has caused nothing but misery for the people.

This the same way Hugo Chavez destroyed Venezuela's economy with attack on private sector, forcing them to sell below the cost of production until they had enough and either packed up or left the country.

Today, the Nigerian government is threading the same dangerous paths that has been the ruin of many economies and they think they are solving a problem.
One thing we have learnt from history is that we do not learn anything from history - Georg Hegel.

After mismanaging anchors borrowers and other loan schemes made to encourage farmers, after failing to provide rural urban roads to improve access to markets from the farms in good time, after denying farmers access to credit facilities while also not protecting them from bandits and marauding jihadists, this foolish government now wants to blame the private sector for their own incompetence.

What stopped the government from mopping up the surplus farm produce and storing for reintroduction into the market. I guess they were busy shinning their fvcking shoes and looting the treasury.

Let it be known that attack on private sector may just be the last foolish act that will destroy what little is left of this economy.

to store goods and not to store scarce commodities affecting the country.

This is the way to go.

Why store up food in warehouses outside of the market environment and create artificial scarcity so you can maximize profit at the expense of your fellow citizens?

As long as those warehouses were loaded by Street boys, they can always be located.

Remembered those days of "essential commodities" in the late 80's. Every hoarded commodity discovered was auctioned by the military to the general public at specified prices.

Hoarding of food should be designated as TREASON.
Is there scarcity of food in Nigeria? A government is saying that the port should use spot rare for clearing of goods at the port. What do you expect to happen to things imported to Nigeria? Are they using naira to import? Are they using naira to clear goods?

Oga, you need to understand how good societies work. There is no democracy in the world where governments seize people goods earned from very legitimate means.

Where are we playing politics in this matter? Is it still a secret that this country has been brought to its knees by APC and very poor governance? Even those who voted APC now lament "ebi n pawa", in regret of their action.

How can you justify government's invasion of people's properties, in the name of hoarding of products bought with their own money? How can you justify the failure of government and the irresponsible move to blame the people?

With all the cries if the citizens in the irresponsible 16 years of PDP in power, why did state governors not back open people's warehouses to seize products? Or have you so speedily forgotten that inspite of the recklessness of PDP, prices of products were quite stable in those years?

When Buhari without proper thinking shut thr borders for years, what did he put in place to cover for the fallout? Did you not hear about the famous "Buhari's body language" that left the economy drifting for months? How has government, especially under APC made life easier for citizens?

Have you not heard Tinubu's talk about reducing the purchasing power of the people? Has he not accomplished it? How do you want to blame the businessman who sole purpose is profit making? Why not seize all the vessels carrying petrol to the country, in the name of hoarding and increasing prices? Are Nigerians not groaning and labouring under that?

Call a spade a spade. I do not think that the government of Kano state has the right to seize people's goods, especially when they do not contravene any known law.

It’s obvious you don’t know how governments work… if you earn a legitimate money and you invest the money in an anti peoples business or company just don’t let the government know cos one’s they find out your ass is gonna be hailed and your business confiscated. Fuvck around and find out. Simple.

Bros, it might not be all of them hoarding but majority do it. Here in my place, some of them will even hoard for more than four or five month. They make stvpid money through it

naijanative:
This is extremely wrong. They may not be hoarding it. Business men normally hold their goods in warehouses, I have done supermarket before. You sell it gradually in your shop until it finishes. When you empty people's warehouses, what next will you sell? What message are you also passing to business men? It also very easy to target people you hate. Why fight personal businesses, so someone that sells food stuff in Nigeria no longer has a right to have a warehouse to store his goods. Me an not getting this oh, because from my own perspective there's no scarcity of food but money no dey to buy the food, I know some federal workers wen just get there January salary on Friday as against what they made us to believe earlier, secondly business owners dey see shege to transport the goods sef
You guys are wicked! How can shortage of cash lead to expensive food when the food is in surplus? It is shortage of food that makes it expensive. People are mopping up food and storing them away in warehouses so they can increase food prices at will because of dollar shortage. Is it dollar we spend in the country?

You lots are too ignorant. No one has to tell you that there's a cabal fighting against the state with food inflation.

Same thing that they did with PMS and naira notes during the last election. Same thing they did with the dollar the last 10 years.

I commend the Kano State government for doing all that's necessary to relieve her citizens of hardship. It may not be conventional, and you don't have to agree with them.

We've read news of Adamawa governor banning the transport of building materials out of the state to the Cameroon. Nigeria state governor did same with the state's food supply. They are no stup!d. These governors know what they are doing. And certainly, you don't understand their situation better then they do.

If you can't see the pattern that's emerging, I can help you.
