Well, there are still wealthy Nigerians with legit sources of income, y'know.
you have criminal intent, in Europe or US, if you are caught with certain amount of money in cash, you will be charged for money Laundering. It's only in Nigeria people misbehave with stolen money

Go and work hard my friend. My friends and I have always saved in dollars and since bank started using charges to destroy customers, we started saving at home just like that person. I don't see any bad thing here.

Still, unless you got a decent safe, don;t keep money at home, just in case fire comes, or cockroach comes to eat money, and you would be crying 'Had I known'.

True banks are now becoming 'less safe' for forex with the way government is behaving about forex inflows into the country, but at the end, they still are safer places for money than the house.

This is one of the reasons many men are so reluctant to have their wives bring in a househelp to the home.
You never can tell if you are bringing in an agent of darkness,a criminal,or a sexual predator.
The owner of that dollars is also a thief, how will you have 50k dollars for house
Those people are the problems of nigeria

1.You did not need to call me a criminal. That was uncalled for, and wrong.

2.NO be today Nigerians keep money at home, even forex. (My late maternal grandmother had a bankaccount, and STILL kept money in the house. When she died, and her kids opened her strongbox, they found a hefty amount of money inside.).Some even keep it at shops. I can even recall news reports on tv shouting at Nigerians over this bad habit from my childhood. Once fire burns through, palava starts.

Yorubas should stop employing these obidients as housemaids.

They are just too covetous.

They've all started attacking the employer and rationalizing the criminal act in their usual fashion.

If you must hire them, let them work only when you are at home. Don't take them as Live-in
maids.

What makes me a bigot? Are Obidients an ethnic group?
I’m very sure it’s not a Yoruba , they are all under bridge extorting bus drivers

Bros very difficult to withdraw dollar from even your dom account today!

And as Naira is a free fall, it is not a good asset to store value, therefore many people change their Naira to dollar and aka store it under their pillow at home.

And they defray daily expenses from there by simply changing little by little back to Naira on the day of use.

Criminal intent for keeping my own money at home? As long as where my money comes from is verifiable, I don't see a crime. This is what I do, the only money I have in banks is the money I use to make more money. My savings are in dollars and they are at home. Even if you use juju, you no fit find am but it's there. Na me build my house so na only me know where to find it. I'm a building contractor and I've built many houses for people with such hidden structures before, especially small politicians.

so sorry for the insult, many people keep money at home because they are scared EFCC will flag their account, remember the post haven't told us the total amount he kept in that house, he only reported how much was stolen, remember that man in Kaduna who stored huge dollars and pounds in a very poor environment building, that's one of the major reason why they kept foreign currency at home because it was stolen, in 2024 where kidnerpers or armed rubbers can just bust on you

But hello Mr Dollar-man in this economic situation you are keeping such money carelessly in your property to the extend your Househelp could accessed easily and stole it? Sorry to say I blame you Mr Dollar-man, if you can have such raw cash in your possession so you mean you can't build a cash Vault with password or code number in the property or what

And for you Mrs Effiong you came for househelp work not as armed robbers or thief work now you will go to jail for being stupid.

Why will they hoard such amounts pf dollars at home, that househelp mess up for being caught.

You can deduce when people are poor and have lack of opportunities in their life because of the way they think and voice certain opinions. So you do not see anything wrong with what the hpusehelp did, you believe that two wrongs should be right. Men, you guys are furckn sick.

This is just a fraction of Nigerian problem. There is an interior motive of hoarding such huge cash in this economy. Imagine if the amount has been thrown back into the economy.

They even have mind to report and police did not quiz them? Naija my country

I also think so too. I believe its the length of period of hardship that somehow skews how they think so for them stealing of going through the back door to getout or look like they have gotten out of that phase of wreteched life is not a problem for them. Now tbey are condemning the owner of the money and saying the househelp should have done her best to not get caught...
