naptu2:Maybe we ate different bread then, because those Ghanaian ones I ate in the 90s were very bland and uninspiring to the palate |

Ishilove:The unique selling point of Ghana bread is that it has more sugar than Nigerian bread (and is therefore sweeter). A Ghanaian BBC journalist even mentioned this in his writeup about Ghanaians in Nigeria in the 1970s and 1980s. There's also another kind of bread that was made on Lagos Island. I have forgotten its name but that bread was bigger than usual and could be shaped like crocodile and other things. I nicknamed it Mighty Igor bread. |

Ishilove. I can't find the video right now, but the late Komlar Dumor also talked about this. He said thwt Nigerian bread was too bland and Ghanaian bread had the right amount of sugar. |

[quote author=Jewessgratitud3 post=128500442]I just remembered this Ghana bread from my childhood that was sold those days in ikoyi. It was a delight back then. we would always trouble my Dad to take us outside the gate every weekend to buy it for us because it looked different from the regular four corner bread 🍞 we were used to. It was kinda crusty and dusty but we enjoyed it anyways ![]() Some Ghanaian guys were hawking it in a basin and would spread butter on it when you buy. Who else had this bread back then. It's mostly found in frankophone countries not just Ghana Republic. 😂 |
