What is mounting profile?
franchasofficia:
for 10 solar panels, it won't be more than 15,000 naira
Re: Guys Using Solar Energy Instead Of Nepa Or Gen. by obitobe: 5:05pm On Feb 18
so guys my set up is as follows

-3.5kva 24 v yohako hybrid inverter
-4 (220AH) batteries
-12 (300W) solar panels
-60A felicity charge controller

I have been partially off-grid, i only get 24 hrs light from Nepa in a week and the rest has been on the solar grid. During the day with everything on, the inveter fridge, inverter deep freezer, the ceiling fans, the standing fans, the washing machine, TVs. With everything on during the day i draw 400w-700w but when the evening come, the max i draw is 200w and then at night time( bed time) i draw 90w-100w till the morning when the sun comes out.

i must say this journey has been a wonderful one for me. I hardly on generator only when they want to grind in the evenings and that will be for like 20mins.

That's not true bro I've been using my own since 2018 no issues at all, the battery life is still the same.

Good day, fellas. Considering the hike in Fuel and Nepa bill coupled with epileptic power supply in Naija. Now, guys using Solar energy instead of Nepa or Gen. How do you guys do it? What type do you use? How do you manage it? I'm thinking of using solar but i would like you to share your experience.

STAY TUNED

I do agree that Solar / Inverter is the Best for Nigerians- to end the Nonsense called DISCOS or formerly NEPA.
It's insulting to the Nigerian Youths and Masses in general- for this Corruption in this Power Sector ( No Transformers,No Prepaid Meters,- to refuse Constant Lights but asking for more Money and it can only be in Nigeria because 'Stealing is not Corruption'
-DISCOS is the Last of the Agency to break into pieces,if Nigeria is to move into Industrial Revolution - for without regular lights,no show!
•So, Solar, with Renewable Energy is the right things but may be expensive and that is why the Citizens needs the Govt, but Mr Adebayo - Minister of Power, wants to remove Electricity Subsidies and can't even convinced Nigerians on the way to go and he has not gotten one thing right since he came on board but why are we just punishing Nigerians
- No Lights,No/ ( High)Fuel,No ( High Food) Prices, No jobs for the Youths!
Terrible and Shameful!
Re: Guys Using Solar Energy Instead Of Nepa Or Gen. by Love800(m): 5:14pm On Feb 18
Whay do u mean by inverter freezer and inverter ac? I thought u have the main inverter already.
franchasofficia:
You are right

Let me give you a recent costing based on what I installed myself.

3.5kva pure sine wave inverter - 370,000

220ah Luminous tubular batteries x 4 - 340,000 x 4 = 1,360,000

120amps charge controller - 340,000

Circuit breakers - 95,000

Used Canadian 410w mono solar panel - 8 x 95,000 = 760,000

Cables - 25m @ 4000 per m = 100,000

Battery rack - 12,000

Solar installation rack - 15,000

Flexible wires and other installation materials - 40,000

Installation fee - 95,000

Total = 3,187,000

What the above solar system will power:

3 smart TVs
1 inverter deep freezer
1 inverter ac
6 energy saving bulbs
1 8.5hp washing machine
5 rechargeable standing fans
DStv decoder

But the freezers, ac, washing machine should not all be turned on at the same time and it must be during day time when the sun is shining. Once it's 6pm switch off your ac and freezer to save your battery so it can last long

Love800:
The solar panel charges ur battery which powers only ur freezer?

So u dont use solar energy for the rest appliances?

Yes, I have added pictures to the original post.

My one singular battery powers only my freezer.

The Mtn Lumos powers only bulbs and my phones and laptops. It used to power my Tv but after using it for 9 years 😂 , E no get that kind power again , and I don’t really need it to. I don’t watch Tv. It also powers a standing rechargeable fan though I seldom use it for it.

I also don’t own a generator. Never have.

When there’s light, I use the washing machine , blender and Micro wave.

I use a dry cleaner to ‘iron’ only.

Inverter is needed to convert DC to AC.

What do u mean by inverter AC and inverter freezer?
Does it mean the main inverter dat powers the other appliances is different from inverter AC and inverter freezer?
TheGift:

No dey wont all be on at the same time.

The laptops will be on mostly during work hours , the when the ACs will most likely not be on. Two ACs will never be on at the same time, remember, they are inverter ACs. All fans will Hardly be on at the same time some
Are for work space others are for living spaces which do not work at the same time. Certainly all the energy saving bulbs will never be on at the same time. E.g Security lights only come on at night.

The priority and constant for me is the freezer to stock fresh goods/save costs -and its an inverter freezer.

You are still thinking

Whilst you are thinking, ask about the budget and put the money in dollars

Then conclude your investigation and continue

Anyway, if you are in the South East, I can link you up with the guy that installed our own

It is a heavy investment, for 3-bedroom apartment, you may need minimum of 3 million to run it

Duplex, you should be talking close to 10 million.
it's currently 8.6m now to install

Hello.
Can one go on solar alone?
Dat means no charging with nepa light. Am i correct?
occfx:

If you have Nepa in your area, combine it with Solar and enjoy 24hrs light and save cost. Going off Grid, that is running only on solar alone will be expensive.

Buy 4 batteries for 1m, one 5kva inverter for 700k and 6pcs of 300w panels. Total is about 2m and forget generator for good. You can still do 1.2m own with 2 batteries.

Inverter - A DC to AC equipment that converts DC power (Battery/Solar) to AC (Alternating current) power which is required by your home appliances to work.

Inverter AC(AirConditioner) / Freezers - Appliances that consumes lesser energy and thereby efficient to be powered by the (DC-AC) Inverter.

You actually use solar to charge the battery.
Re: Guys Using Solar Energy Instead Of Nepa Or Gen. by Love800(m): 5:41pm On Feb 18
So you dont use nepa light to charge ur battery?
Moneyboyz:
This is my third year off grid.

For stable power get at least.
2400 watt of solar panels. I use 200w x 12.
5kw lifepo4 battery pack.

And at least 3kw inverter.

This is enough to power your freezer, washing machine, microwave, air conditioner, water pump etc

Thay is my setup and my light is always on.

They should go and learn from mushroom countries like Benin Republic how they enjoy 24 hrs power supply despite being a poor country and are still affording it.

^^^
grin

They are not a 'mushroom' country oh...

It is standard practice for Nigerians to use these words - 'small', 'tiny', 'mushroom', etc. in describing our neighbours. I don't know when or how it began but recent events will surely put a stop to it.

At the moment we are poor, heavily in debt, broke as hell, and our currency is taking a severe beating. The only thing we have more than our neighbours is the number of very angry, multi-dimensionally poor people.

In Nigeria we provide our own light, security, jobs, sometimes fixed our own roads cos govt had abandoned it for years, I want to ask…. What exactly are we benefiting from govt as Nigerians ?

How honest are we about paying taxes and tenement rates as well as donations to political campaigns that address the services and utility issues you raised

Is that not a prerequisite for having local, state and federal governments to serve us better?

I clearly stated in my post that the AC runs basically in the afternoons only.

There is no way an off grid solar user can be running all his appliances at the same time and for 24 hours continuously.

Lightening only come up at nights

My fans are Qasa standing fans, very energy efficient.X 6

I'm not a TV person but use about 3 hours for the kids (56W Lg tv)

Ironing is done in regimented fashion about 3 times a week and between 10am and 3pm

Pumping of water is also done at the peak of the sun using a 1hp electric pump.

Of course I go to work, same as my wife and kids (to school). The system is not always under stress as you are painting it except on weekends.

I'm not a a politician nor a pastor, I don't sell hope.

I love this your last sentence.

Even though you don’t sell hope, thanks for sharing your experience to give us hope for off grid electricity. cheesy
