Play store is saying my phone is not certified and I cant seem to find workarounds to unlock the bootloader, it keeps saying visit xiaomi community to request for Mi unlock.
I will be glad if anyone can help me

Please what are the drawbacks of Redmi A2?

It's running on Android go edition, so I wonder if there are limitations
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by lovediehatelive(m): 8:41pm On Feb 26
Please this Redmi A2, it's like it's android go edition.

Please what are the limitations of the android go edition phones?

Learnt online that it doesn't allow 'display over other apps '

How does this affect it.

Educate me please

Try draining the ba3 and recharging to 100 and don't use power bank on it.

You might need to look at your background apps, make those hungry ba3 suckers no dey drink am for back..
Did you say don't use power bank.. there's no steady electricity where I stay..

First of, Android go is like a very stripped down version of Android made for lower end devices that run on lower end chips, so the goal is to remove most of the functions that uses alot of resources in the main Android variant, from this go edition, so as not to overwhelm it because, it is thought that the person getting an Android go edition, is price restricted and just needs the basic functions of a mobile, which are calling, texting, light social media use, very very light game play etc.

"Display over apps" is a very intensive resource using function, that can easily slow down an Android go device and that's why it is removed, but there is a work around to enable it via ADB on a system, but i wouldn't advice that for obvious reasons.

If you are looking for a full "mobile experience" , then look away from Android go devices, as the cons outweighs the pros, worst still, even 4GB devices on "normal Android versions" are easily becoming overwhelmed by how Android apps eat resources now, so much so that, 6GB RAM devices might soon be the new norm, so imagine what these apps will do to an "Android Go" device!

I must add, Google go through the pain of making "lite versions" of thier apps for Android go devices, which is like a stripped down versions of the original, i think Facebook and some other apps do too, but most app developers don't bother making a lite versions, meaning if you want to use, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord , Reddit etc you would have to download the only apps they have on the playstore, which will overwhelm the Android go device as time goes by.

So my advice is, if you are really stretched for cash and you can live with these limitations, by all means get the Redmi A2 device, but then again the device should be around 80 - 85k now due to the current economic reality, so the advantage of a lower cost that it holds compare to it's limitations is almost out of the window, so my best bet, is to look for mid rangers from yesterday years like the Redmi Note 8 pro or Redmi Note 9S on fairly used, which will be around that price mark, from reputable sellers on the sellers thread, as i think that will be a better deal, for example, The Redmi Note 9S runs on the Snapdragon 720G, which is a very very decent chipset still, today.

Shallom!
