The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the last election, Mr Peter Obi has said that the hardship currently being experienced across the nation today, requires that Nigerians set aside all sentiments and work to proffer solutions to the myriads of problems besetting the country.

In a thread of tweets shared to show appreciation for being awarded politician of the year by Leadership Newspapers Group Limited, Mr Obi said considering how much the nation has retrogressed, all Nigerians must rise and join in rescuing the nation from further collapse.

Noting that it is rewarding to see many Nigerians appreciate his political impact, Mr Obi revealed it is difficult to sleep at night, knowing that millions of Nigerian households do not know where their next meal will come from.

He further stated that it is hard to go to bed knowing that some Nigerians may be under terror attack due to the high level of insecurity in the country.

In the light of this, he urged Nigerians to “unite, above tribe, religion, and political party affiliation, rescue our nation free from the shackles of leadership failure and bad governance”, adding that “this generation of Nigerians has a sacred duty to make Nigeria a nation Nigerians can be proud of”.

This is no time to apportion blames or to hunt for culprits. It is the hour of collective responsibility for national salvation. I dedicate this award to every Nigerian, who not only believes in good governance, but is making sacrifices to ensure that we get it right in our nation.

“I assure us all that our labours for the New Nigeria will not be in vain because it is a land of POssibilities, a place of prosperity, peace and happiness for all our people,” the LP flagbearer buttredded.

It is with utmost delight that I received the award – The Politician of the Year 2023, from the Abuja-based Leadership Newspapers Group Limited.

Obi is referring to his people by the fact that they are the only one who voted for him based on tribe and religion. This is a FACT! 🤣🤣🤣 It is obvious their stands as to the present economic challenges.😂😂😂. Tribal and religious bigots.

Obi won ahead of Tinubu in Lagos but it is the same Lagos that Obi's tribes men make a mockery of when they protest against the current economic challenges. Do you see the tribal sentiment. 🤣🤣🤣

Obi, I totally disagree with you on this one. Any one that brought an ant infested wood home should bear the brunt. Why should I forget tribe and religion when they brought it to the election? If anything wan scatter make im scatter.

If Nigerians were to be given another opportunity to elect a leader this weekend, most of them will still vote against logic. Perhaps eight years of extreme SAPA will help shape our thought pattern.

Can we truly unite? This I ask because of the level of intolerance amongst youths who should be more united.

First of all, in the interest of fair disclosure, I must state that I am not an Obidient. Not because I have anything against Peter Obi as either a politician or a human being, but because I think Nigeria's problems are too deeply rooted and structural to be solved by one man, no matter how well intentioned he may be.

Having said this, permit me to lay the following foundation before I ask my question:

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has just announced that in 2023 alone, over 700 companies shut down.

The number of companies and businesses in Nigeria that have become either paralysed, comatose or in the verge of collapse since 2015 is so large, that even the NBS (National Bureau of Statistics) is too frightened to put a figure on how much has been lost.

Food trucks carrying provisions from farms to markets are getting hijacked and attacked every day;

Farmers are paying taxes to Fulani Herdsmen, Boko Haram and ISWAP and because of this, many of them have chosen to drastically reduce the scale of their farming activities to just cater for themselves and their families;

Fulani Herdsmen came from nowhere in 2015 to become the 4th most dangerous terrorist organization in the world and they have been flourishing in Nigeria ever since then;

Even before the alleged "floating" of the Naira (which is a scam because the naira is still being sold at controlled prices to certain "privileged" clientele) prices of goods and services were already far beyond the reach of the average Nigerian;

We were told that we wouldn't feel the impact of fuel price deregulation because there was a saviour called Dangote Refinery which would do away with the need to refine Nigerian crude oil using scarce foreign resources. We were made to believe that Dangote's Refinery is here to save the day and we will soon be scooping refined petroleum at rock bottom prices.

So my question is: Of all the problems I have mentioned which have crippled and ruined Nigeria's economy since 2015, which specific problem is Peter Obi responsible for creating?

I would like intelligent answers to my question, but if that is too much to ask for, then I will gladly settle for an honest opinion.

Well spoken...!

All hands must be on deck to rescue this nation from imminent and inevitable collapse.

The present administration is clearly clueless, and walking around the pressing issues without a clear roadmap.

These politicians all have plan Bs in the event that the nation finally implodes... Their families are not even based in this country.

They're ruling a nation they don't truly believe in.

If you citizens like, continue fighting amongst yourselves... Suffer go mend all of una.

According to your bush logic,when a region vote for their candidates,it makes them tribal,right!
So when the Igbos voted enmasse for Obj,they were tribal? When they voted enmasse for Jonathan,they were tribal? When they north voted for buhari enmasse,they were tribal?
According to your yorubas,the Igbos didn't vote for Abiola 1993 so,that means,the yorubas that voted enmasse for Abiola in 1993 were all tribal?!

You people just open ya mouths waaaa.....

Story. Many Nigerians will rather die in hunger than make choices devoid of ethnic, religious and political considerations which sometimes shows how western education has been wasted on this nation
