ExcessKJ:Ok will do. Give examples of stocks with million volumes with no corresponding price appreciation. * Note that it's possible anyway, in as much as there's no single trade/crossing up to 100k or above. |

Agbalowomeri:Oga mi you know say na joke I dey with ur GTCO o. I however think it depends on the cost price of the stocks in the portfolio..... Except he's insinuating that he bought @CPs If for instance, he has Sugar @17, SALT @13, Conoil @18, MRS @12, SEPLAT @350, GTCO@17, ZEE @18 cost price, then we can't just conclude it could turn to loss easily like that.. I believed he must have weigh his options not to Rebalance the portfolio at loss sha. |

Agbalowomeri: This is not entirely true. It depends on what you do in the market. If everyone in the market is in it for speculative reasons, then yes, someone will have to lose for some other person to gain, for example, with all these digital coins. However, if you are an investor who strictly follows investing strategies, then you grow along with your company. The value of a company grows over time, and so does its valuation, as long as they are doing the right things. 2 Likes |

yMcy56: The scenario you're painting is not ideal for that question, Madam. The prices he bought those stocks at isn't relevant to the future gain/loss potential. As at today, he has about 50m worth of value. Equities market should be appreciated for growing his funds. But he should put emotions aside and look at the potential benefits of continuing to hold the stocks at current prices vs the yield from fixed income. In reality, it's not all black and white. I don't believe in leaving the market totally. If stocks are overvalued, I recommend you sell down and get assets with better potentials and vice versa. Of course, this is my perspective. 10 Likes |

yMcy56: If I get your point correctly, do you mean that price of stock on NSE don't appreciate or depreciate until at least one single deal among all deal for the day traded 100,000 unit of that particular stock? |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 5:30pm On Mar 26 |
That's correct ExcessKJ: |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Streetinvestor2: 5:30pm On Mar 26 |
chillykelly86:Nice submission. Can anyone beat his chest and say a particular stock is over valued when different things push price up or down on nse Can you say transcorp power is over valued when many here used geregu price as yard stick for thr purchase. etc. I stand with mcy on mentioning the price he picked the equity. And I believe that is why Emma mentioned his BE and decide to sell some ratio. I will never jump on fixed income because of its returns when my equity investment has given me tremendous capital appreciation. Ask loco, His style of investment will tell you anything can happen on any stock though I don't believe in dead companies that are alive on paper. 4 Likes |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 5:36pm On Mar 26 |
I want to put this out there: do not use all your resources to purchase fixed instruments. I am currently speaking from experience. The FI might give guaranteed returns but the equity market could give exponential returns. One thing that should be a constant factor is a healthy RISK APPETITE and PATIENCE. If you commit to FI, you're stuck till maturity... 5 Likes |

debeey87: Agbalowomeri:@Chillykelly8 I understand wetin I dey talk o, not expecting anyone to agree with me as per say I be amateur See the scenario from debee and the response from Agba....... My response to Agba was a view from another angle because I saw his response as one sided. ** Take note of "The total annual dividend from both portfolio as less than 4M" from Debee If you say the 50M could become 30 in Equity, isn't there a possibility of it becoming 80 instead too?? * I wasn against diversification here, but saying if he's in profit due to picking those stocks cheaper, he could lock in his profit and move it to fix income asset. ** Truth is: Equity has higher chances of generating better returns than fixed assets** 5 Likes |

KarlTom: There is a very highly liquid secondary market for fixed income assets where transactions running to hundreds of billions of naira are done daily. It is far more liquid than NGX. 2 Likes |

ExcessKJ:Yes..... Just posted the Rule few days ago. See it attached ** However, pls note that the last 100k single unit (or above) for a stock determines the closing price for the day.... irrespective of the time it's executed**

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 7:01pm On Mar 26 |
This is something I'm aware of too. There are reduction in rates associated with trading FI on the secondary (and tertiary) markets (reason I said you're stuck till maturity). On it being more liquid than NGX I can't confirm or refute... emmanuelewumi: |

KarlTom: Currently selling at a discount, so anybody who buys now can sell at a premium before maturity I guess you bought few years ago when Treasury bill was less than 10%, this made Fixed income to sell at a premium |
