Just like our politicians we are obsessed with recycling not improving.

Collins, Awaziem, Omeruo, are not bringing anything new, you want to improve you try something NEW it's very simple.

You have players making waves Tella, Fisayo and you don't play them.

Friendly games should be used to improve not recycle the old ones and rebranding.

Where are the new midfielders we need ❓

Sorry to say this but currently no indeginous coach has the chops to manage the Eagles. It is what it is. Not Finidi, not Amuneke and certainly not Eguavoen.
You look at the Nigerian league, all 20 teams are managed by Nigerians but the lack of technical dept is apparent in all the teams.

The last 2 games Finidi managed, has shown him up. He couldn't tweek his team to press 10 man Ghana, held out playing same 352 formation against 10 men.

Second game, he apparently didn't change formation quickly when in search for equalizer. Can we beat our chest and say Finidi will out coach Hugo Broos and Rohr at the world cup qualifiers?

Agreed 100β„…. We are still doing the same thing over and over again. I won't give a fuss if we already have a balanced team, then maybe we say that the coach is working on team synergy, but we don't. The person that sent this invite deserves a public flogging. Inviting Osimhen and other multiple space occupying defenders beats my imagination. Ajayi is already a mainstay in the DF. Why not newbie Igho Ogbu to partner him?? We already know Omeruo & Awaziem cannot give more than what they have given over the years. Why d recycling?? George Ilenihkena is there for the taking, why not blood him in with the team now. Tim Iroegbunam, Nathan Tella, Fisayo. That's what friendlies are for. I would have been better that we lost while giving a tryout to all these players than what happened yesterday. Now Simon who should not have been with the team is injured. Another FIFA window wasted.

Sadly so. I thought he would come good but he's clearly in diminishing mode. First choice CBs are clearly now Ekong, Bassey, and Ajayi. Kenneth for now is on probation. Osho, Igoh, Toru and even Fredricks should vie for the remaining 1/2 CB slots.

He faded off after that wonderful season in Nantes. He used to be my favorite then but man is no longer good as before.

Not a popular opinion, but amongst those listed, Eguavon is still the most qualified. He's the only Nigerian coach I know save Keshi that can command the respect of the Super Eagles players. He's been around coaching circles for about 2 decades without a public scandals. There's been no report of him dabbling with Players transfers or contracts. He's won the Bronze at the AFCON and the team under him played quite well at the 2021 AFCON. He coached the likes of J.J Okocha, Kanu Nwakwo, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, and even Mikel Obi to make a few. So if it's pedigree he's got it.

There's an argument to be made that if he had a better goalkeeper, maybe just maybe we wouldn't have been knocked out of the AFCON in 2021 and we wouldn't have conceded against Ghana in Abuja.

The fact that he's not actively coached outside of his temporary stint with the national team is a no no for me. But on paper is objectively the more qualified amongst those mentioned.

Disclaimer: not shilling for him and I really do not want him as the Super Eagles coach, far from it. I'm.jist making an argument.

🚨 Brighton are watching ex-Arsenal youngster Philip Otele, who is regarded as one of the best talents in Romania.

πŸ‘‘ The idea would be to give him time at Union St Gilloise to develop.

This is just it. Maybe just maybe we would have cut him some slack if he experimented with the new boys and lost. He would at least have some reason.

How do you justify not playing Tella and Fisayo in 2 games? Where else do we get to see them play, in a world cup qualifier game? Make the same mistake we did with Lookman at the last world cup qualifiers? He lost the plot in my opinion.

I said it in the beginning of the match that he showing favouritism to local born players to foreign players OR he has that mentality of players born in Nigeria understand African football better and other rubbish mentality most of them has.

Cos there's no justification to playing that forward line yesterday, Moses Simon should not be starting over Ademola lookman, he's our inform forward from Afcon to club level. Tella and Fisayo should also be given a chance.

I had to delete this part of my post cause I as much as possible shun arguments that bothers on tribalism and where one was born. But it's hard not to at the very least assume this was what Finidi was doing. Save for Dessers, it looked like he only played home born players except where it was almost impossible that a FB had to play. Not saying that's what happened, but if most certainly looks like it.

What's even more annoying is that many people here have projected Tella as Samuel Chukwueze's potential replacement since the latter hasn't been doing well lately.

Abeg, when was he expecting to try him out if not a friendly. Tella should have played 90 minutes in both game cause we obviously have a problem with the right wing. Do they want to do to Tella what they did to Lookman when they debut him in an important world cup qualifiers match.

Many of you know how you almost gave up on him and said Lookman is trash. If I am a conspiracy theorists, I could suggest they either didn't play him to save face to Chukwueze or they plan to put him up I'm an important match so he flops and gets trashed by the fans.

Cause how do you not play him at all in 2 games. I really hope there's a more plausible reason cause it's not making sense at all.

In statistical news, the Super Eagles will drop to 30th in the world rankings when FIFA releases it. These games dey get effect, people no dey hear. Mali have moved from 47th to 44th.

If we had won Mali we would've maintained our 28th position or go one spot up. But IIWII. We move.

Aptly put. Sometimes players need game time and confidence to grow into a team. Like you rightly noted Lookman was beginning to look over hyped when he first joined the team in 2022 but he's now looking like a SE stalwart who will serve the national colours for good number of years to come.

Finidi really dropped the ball not fielding his reserve players especially Nathan, Fisayo and Yusuf. It's not like they were some wet behind youngsters who just started playing professional football.

That said I'm still pro-Finidi he just needs enough support and back up from the NFF to execute his duties optimally.

Lol. You for no answer na. Thanks sha. Real hustlers that should be taken serious in coming years. Rather we'll see sentimental journalists all over the media space, clamoring for local coaches that are waiting, expecting nostalgia to qualify them. Very annoying at this point.

See since Afcon 2020, the way they've been going for courses and all, you'll think they wantu compete with Sarina for a job. The men are sitting and expecting to be picked cos of Enyimba, Tanzania and u17 and Kano Pillars. If na by NPFL levels sef, there are more seasoned managers doing tactical exploits in that league right now and I'll take them over these comfy legends,if that's the metric to get the job.

It pisses me off. You'll look at Nsien and Egbo cv and compare and you'll be wondering why these ones feel so entitled. That's why i said many of them are best as Assistants. At least the nostalgia on them will be helpful with these players that were kids or not yet born when they were all balling those years. For now, na dem sabi.

Pep no dey play am again sef. In one of his interview, he clearly said he detest passing and passing without purpose.

Passing the ball around without purpose is not Tiki Taka; that's just cluelessness. Look at the Barcelona teams of 2008-2015 and examine how they played their Tiki Taka; you can't compare it with the nonsense that the current Barcelona and Spanish National team play. There's a clear difference between them.

I get irritated when people refer to the nonsense that's currently being played, as Tiki Taka; it's not Tiki Taka. Passing the ball around without purpose is just borderline cluelessness, and it showcases an inability to be creative.

The Tiki Taka system is very complex, and it requires a certain skill-set from the players. If the right players aren't available, the system will fail.

Ndidi mistake led to the 2nd goal. I do not understand why he was still on the pitch at that point in time when you have Alhassan and Fisayo on the bench.
Simon and Dessers failed Finidi today. Not scoring either chances is a travesty.
I said it in my previous posts, Dessers is not reliable.

For continuity sake, I will say we keep Finidi and give him good assistants. Just like Senegal did with Cisse!
I do hope he learn from this! #my2cent.

Why is that once a coach loses a match in Nigeria, we start singing the sack him chorus?

Why do we like magic so much? We hate being patient to achieve results. Granted international football doesn't give much time for second guesses but I feel we should give Finidi the benefit of the doubt. My opinion is not about Finidi. Even if it is Amunike or a foreign coach, I'd still call for patience, support and encouragement.
