In America, waste, water, streets, schools, tax, police are under the purview of local government. Who makes up local government? People living in the community. In Nigeria we funnel external resources to someone answering governor to be in charge of allocating it to local government in places he hardly knows and we wonder why there is so much theft and irresponsibility in government.

Soludo did one good thing in Awka and that was put an honest hard working Awka man in charge of ACTDA. The roads got patched quickly, the squatter shacks along roads removed.

But for sustainability this model should be a city or town development agency run by qualified honest indigenes with clear cut responsibilities and oversight from both state and eminent leaders to prevent abuse.

The truth is, the Nigerian and American systems are extremely similar. One issue is the Local Governments do not do anything in Nigeria. People except the bare minimum from them and they deliver the bare minimum. And I actually think the SE local governments are the best, it is worst in other regions. Some regions they dont even know there's such a thing as Local Government Chair etc.

Everything you listed is also supposed to be handled by the local government but they're honestly more corrupt and useless than the governors. Governors are celebrities so everyone puts their eyes on them. When we start pressuring local governments, we will see a BIG change because no superman state government can do all of that for thousands of communities.

Why do you make jokes out of someone’s medical condition, is not okay.
You don't have right to do that even if he's an hiv patient or not!
Btw, hiv patient is not a second class citizen and they have the right and freedom of speech just as any other person.
What you're doing kills faster than the disease itself, because you're indirectly telling hiv patients not to share their opinion on this thread.

Buhari told Ndigbo to go and discuss amongst themselves and agree on one state to be created and present it to him for implementation. Ndigbo couldn't present one because they did not agree on which one to adopt out of Njaba, Aba, Etiti and Adada States agitations.
Even Ohaneze couldn't throw kalo kalo so that whichever gets a YES will be presented to Buhari. Na we do ourselves !!!!

Godwin Maduka Set to Unveil the Tallest University in Nigeria located in Umuchukwu Anambra state, as NUC team visit him in his home town

High-powered delegation of the National Universities Commission (NUC) has visited the yet to be Unveiled Transatlantic Medicine and Heath Science University in Anambra being spearheaded by popular US-based medical doctor and philanthropist, Dr. Godwin Maduka.

The NUC team led by the Executive Secretary, Mr. Chris Maiyaki expressed satisfaction with the quality of structure put in place expected to house the medical university.

The multi-billion naira investment is believed to be part of his efforts to redirect part of his business interests back to Nigeria from US where he has six hospitals and empower experts locally, especially with the growing brain drain in the industry.

The NUC inspection team was accorded befitting reception by the jubilant community.

Maiyaki applauded Maduka for his decision to float such a gigantic project, expressing the readiness of the university regulator to offer the needed support in ensuring that more opportunities are available for human capital development in the country.

According to the NUC Executive Secretary, with a project of this nature, Nigeria will groom the needed manpower that will provide medical services to the teeming populace.

Among the structures housing the proposed university is a 17-storey building, reputed to be the tallest building in the South East and South South.

Also contained in the proposed university are residences for the Principal Officers – VC, Bursar, Registrar, Librarian, lecture theatre, administratives, hostel and other blocks.

Maduka in his remarks said the project has become necessary in view of the ‘japa’ syndrome that has hit the medical industry. He assured that the university will be fully functional in September with the admissions of students and other academic activities.

The medical institution will house among others, pharmacy, dental, nursing, radiology technology and other allied health and research students.

A team from Project Implementation Committee was also at the inspection tour.

Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines Celebrates Air Peace's Landmark Inaugural Flight to London

... Says United Nigeria Airlines Is Next

Air Peace will be making history with its inaugural flight from Lagos, Nigeria, to Gatwick, London, signaling a momentous leap forward for the Nigerian aviation industry. The significance of this milestone will be highlighted by the presence of the Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, OFR, who will be aboard the flight to show support and solidarity for his brother, Barr. Allen Onyema, the visionary behind Air Peace.

In a statement reflecting the spirit of unity and triumph, the Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines declared, "Today is our day of victory, our success, our Airpeace inaugural flight to London. London, here I come on board Airpeace. Congratulations to us. To God be the glory."

The launch of the Lagos-Gatwick route not only enhances connectivity between Nigeria and the United Kingdom but also sets the stage for the Nigerian aviation industry. This momentous occasion symbolizes Nigeria's growing presence in the global aviation arena and signals a promising future for the nation's aviation industry.

As Air Peace blazes a trail to Gatwick, London, it paves the way for other Nigerian airlines to follow suit, fostering economic growth, job creation, and international partnerships. The success of this inaugural flight is a testament to the vision and determination of Nigerian aviation leaders, propelling the industry towards new heights of excellence and opportunity.

With Air Peace's inaugural flight to London, United Nigeria Airlines is next to hit the international routes.

The business relationship between Chief Allen Onyema of Air Peace and Professor Obiora Okonkwo, OFR, of United Nigeria Airlines has remained the trending topic across platforms, with many expressing admiration for their partnership and support for each other. Both have continued to redefine friendly competition and put into practice the popular Igbo maxim, "Onye aghana Nwanne ya".

Congratulations to Air Peace, United Nigeria Airlines Is Next.

Air Peace should make it possible for its passengers to schedule international flights to begin and end at their local airport just like many American airlines. This will be a great step forward in easing the stress of traveling for Nigerians. If Air Peace will first put you on a local flight to Lagos airport where you will then join the international flight to your destination, air travel in Nigeria would be at par with what is done abroad.

if Air Peace reduces the stress of international trips for Nigerians by ensuring that they can book one ticket that encompasses their local flight and international flight beginning from their local airport, that convenience alone will win so many Nigerian travelers to use Air Peace no matter the plots hatched by the powerful foreign airlines against Nigerians.

💯 agree. I wonder why Naija domestic airlines have always found it difficult to do so. In 2024, it should not be rocket science for me to book a ticket from Houston - Enugu (via Lagos) on a single booking 🤷🏾‍♂️

Moreover, Air Peace needs a cash infusion of between $100 million - $300 million in order to fully compete against the likes of BA, Virgin Atlantic, Ethiopian, and Delta on international direct routes to Nigeria. This investment (could be by way of loans and/or equity) would be primarily used to pay for leases of wide-body aircraft such as the A350, B787-9, and the B777; hedge against future aviation fuel price hikes; and improve the already impressive IFE and inflight services
