Hello all,I thought the minister said renewals do not need to do biometrics capture again as the uploaded passport photograph will be printed on the international passport. Is it that renewal will still go for capturing again?

From my readings and research, I think I would need NIN, birth certificate/age declaration, and local government certificate. But I am not clear on the guarantor aspect yet.

If you stay close to Abeokuta or you are in urgent need of it , then you can go check if it’s due for collection . I captured December 29th and collected April meanwhile it has been due for collection since February.

I'm thinking of using an image taken with my phone, even though I have clear, well-lit passport photographs with white background.

When I uploaded a captured copy of the passport photo, I got complaints of ICAO proper lighting issues. Yet, I do not think a passport photo can be brighter than the one I had.

Note that I snapped the physical passport using my phone (instead of scanning). My phone has sharp cameras. I even had to turn on flash light to see if that would make a difference but none. So I was thinking if I could just take a photograph with my phone.

Just input ur application number and reference number.
It's shows you the application status.

No matching application status found for application number is the response I'm getting now while trying to track my passport. I tracked it last week but here is the current feedback I'm getting on the site.

Immediately i was able to print my receipt while the next day NIS sent me confirmation mail too

I recommend you check at the NIS center you did the registration it might be ready for collection. I googled the error and someone on Nairaland said the passport is ready if it shows that. I did my capturing today in Berlin, I was able to track it immediately I was done and it showed passport in production and now it returns the same error as yours.

I just saw that it's included under "Instructions" on the Appointment Slip, as seen in the attached screenshot.

And, please what does "NIN MUST be validated"? How's that done?

A guarantor is not needed when you are renewing your Nigerian passport.

To validate your NIN:
Download the Nimc official mobile app from the app store and open it. Enter your eleven-digit nin number in the space provided for you and your mobile number will appear. Click on the next button to proceed. An OTP will be sent to the mobile number displayed.
