Yes, interim dividend of 25k was paid, making a total dividend of 85k for the financial year. Their is improvement in the bank performance sha. I am still wondering how the bank will meet up with the CBN recapitalization, though the worst that can happen is for the bank to exit international banking.

@Streetinvestor2 is fond of this avoidable attack. He is unrepentant and has done this so many times on this platform despite the fact that @yok did not quote him on his comment.

In as much as my first sentence may come out as an attack. It is because he always comes here to indirectly market his private forum or trying to redirect members here to that forum. Go back and read his post.

It is a free world bro. Nobody is forced to join any private forum. People that want to join should be free to do so. Same with people that don't care to join. People should also be free to speak freely here, including those who have private forum to market

It seems nothing spectacular to expect from this market till second half of the year.

The biggest disappointment so far is Dangote, with the deceitful so called merger. I recall someone gave us the expo here at the beginning of the year that Dangote will fall our hand big time.

In as much as I do not want to bring politics into this forum, but then, I need you to enlighten us on what you are seeing or which particular area/field/metrics that HAS made this government better than the last regime. Forget about the fact that we made money in the stock market, that will be selfish of us, the percentage of Nigerians participating in the stock market is less than 1%. So, what about the rest 99%?

For example:

Cooking gas is now N1,200 per kg compared to N600 under Buhari regime
Rice N77,000 per bag against N32,000 vis-vis other food items
Petrol N580 per ltr against N185 under Buhari
Diesel N1,200 against N800
…. just to mention a few

The administration is just cleaning up the mess they created unnecessarily with the abrupt removal of subsidy. On the dollar issue, they met it at N650 and with all the shout up and down, it is still N1,000. Not to talk about the massive increase in loans and external debts they have incurred in just less than a year of governance. I have so many friends that are into manufacturing and know what they are going through economically. Electricity generation is still nothing to write home about. Not to forget the fact that wages of workers has remained same while the purchasing power of every Nigerian has been massively reduced.

Please note that this is not a fight or attack on you.

Both of you are saying the same thing but from different perspective.

Buhari created serious mess but held all the economic indicators of the mess down artificially and unsustainably.

Tinubu came and removed the veil so Nigerians could feel the impact of the mess Buhari created.

However, Tinubu is not free of blame because, first he supported Buhari and second, he should have adopted a gradualist approach in removing the veil, rather the totalist approach he has adopted so far. E.g why not phase out fuel subsidy removal, instead of removing 💯 at once? Same mistake is being repeated with electricity subsidy.

I think Corporate Actions from indigenous companies used to be very slow compared to the ones with international presence/parent companies...

- The merger is not deceitful (EXCEPT Alhaji cancelled it ooo)
- If there won't be merger, then, the public wouldn't have been informed by the 2 listed companies in separate company disclosures

Links to all these disclosures were provided here around that time last year........i no fit find any link for now. smiley

You are right in your assumption because it is still apc government that allowed the total mess of the economy to this level by refusing to do the right things.I was for Labourin the last election because I was expecting things this government is doing to happen if they succeeded Though the approach could have differed with transparency and thought out ways

I Removal of dubious fuel subsidy. I had a class mate who got 3 billion during gej in it for bringing in nothing.
2 I wanted naira floating not controlled floating /profiteering we had in the past by few individuals
3.I wanted administrative corruption reduced to a very low level
4.I wanted government wastage controlled to the lowest level
5.I wanted bdc regulated well if not dismantled completely
6.I wanted insecurity tackled mostly the political induced ones..The list goes on...

Why I feel this government is better and will definitely end better is because they are handling some of the problems now.The approach may not be perfect. It is still better than maintaining old status quo .Though apc didn't allow gej start it because they wanted to rubbish his government for political reasons. .Pmb will remain as the worst thing to happen to this country. NA agidi been dey the guy head, lol

And for price of things.it will definitely come down just give it time.It is already happening in one line of my business .Don't equally forget naija people dey greedy. They like to capitalize on situations to make more cash.

You could still have made your point without being this combative bro. We know manufacturers haven't been doing well. We also know some of the issues are being addressed, like forex/FDI/FX backlog, inflation. Let's just share our views, opinions and perspectives and leave every forumite to make their decisions.

I just dey reason am ni o.

I think another better alternative for the banks is to consider merger or acquisition too.

Q1 2024 should be good for the banks. But from Q2, grab your pop corn. Depending on where the naira/dollar exchange rate settles, some fx gains may even be vomitted. This doesn't in anyway mean the banks aren't healthy. But you and I can't predict how the market will react. We pray against every spirit of Zenith at #10. Oga Agba, well done Sir. cheesy
