Do you really understand what she said?? You quick in calling someone names cheesy
She said keep ur dollar cos 1k dollar will still be 1k dollar.
That's not true, 1k dollar is N1m and if u keep ur dollar, 1k dollar will soon be N700k.
It's not a good advice.
She forgets that those with dollar won't spend the money in dollar but will convert it to naira before spending it

EFCC, this is an economic crime, encouraging citizens to hold on to a foreign currency in Nigeria.

EFCC, do your job and arrest this woman now like you did to Bobrosky.

How many average Nigerians living in Nigeria have dollars in their hands, let alone $1000? lipsrsealed

The average Nigerians who have dollars are mostly those who live outside of the country and send dollars back to their loved ones from abroad regularly.
Have you heard of black market? It allows average Nigerian to get dollar easily

Black market has been there since even my childhood in that same Nigeria. What I would like for you to tell me is how the existence of the Black market suddenly puts dollars in the hands of the average Nigerian living in Nigeria. Does the black market hand them free dollars or what? undecided

Progress of one's country? What progress did Nigeria make after its ruling APC through the INEC Chairman appointed by APC government, threw away the ultramodern system for collation of voting results, but resorted to PRIMITIVE and NEVER TRANSPARENT manual collation of vote results to produce a loser as president of Nigeria last presidential election? All these after the head of the election umpire swore before the public that no other method except the system of electronic transmission of vote results would be used to conduct the general elections of 2023 in Nigeria.
APC stole the presidential election and didn't border about the credibility problems it created for INEC and democracy in Nigeria.

It's high time to put away childish rants on Nairaland, BP is real grin

Ok I will answer u cos u didn't insult me in ur comment like every other NLder.
There are people who bought dollar with naira at N1800, yes though the value of dollar didn't change, but those people have become poorer statistically because they will not spend the money in dollar, they will change it back to Naira before they use it.
If you look at it, they moved from N1.8m to N1m.
Most of the people hoarding dollar are not financially rich, most of them only have $200, they need to dispose their dollars now and count their loses before it gets worse.

I understand your point perfectly I'm just pointing out to you that speculators who bought above 1k have already cut their losses.

The rush to sell dollar will only happen on a large scale of the exchange rate goes to N700 or less where it was in may 2023.

Let's see if the government can sustain the current downward trend.
The fact is that we are all praying for the country to get better because it will benefit everybody irrespective of which politician you are supporting.

All shall be well

Anyone who is against Nigeria progress should be arrested. You can't be in a country and be planning for the downfall of that country.

In China if you speak ill of the country you are invited and asked to defend your statement. Failure to do that means jail term for you.

We should do that here too so that everyone can have common sense. It's Nigeria first no matter the party you belong t. Well being of this nation is our collective responsibility.

God bless Nigeria.
That would be good. The like of Buhari, Tinubu, Lai Mohammed and many of them should be in jail but now. I think we need that kind law in this country.
A president that went to a whole Qatar to say if any of his minister ask for bribe, they should let him know. Meaning his ministers are bribe takers in the eyes of the world.
Another president that went to London to say, Nigeria youths are lazy. What more? Please let these two go to jail to serve as deterrent to others.

It is not surprising that people who believed Buhari died and was replaced by Jubrin are the same set of people who believed that Obi won 2023 presidential election. How can someone be so daft and delusioned?

How can you strongly want your country to fail because a mediocre failed at the polls?

I am absolutely certain to my gut Obi is a mediocre and not what we need.

She keeps saying Tinuhu government is illegitimate, I'm very sure the police are taking note. If they finally invited her to come over and explain what she means by Tinubu illegitimate government the minions who will never share part of campaign fund with her will start defending madafaka.
This kind of mentality of Obi allies and the kind of evil agenda they have for Nigeria is why they must never get near AsoRock. I don't care how it must happen but as long as people like these are who speaks for Obi, bye bye to Aso Rick.

Opposition is the oil for democracy. Too many other saner people still see Tinubu as an illegitimate president judging from the most deceptive and most bastardized election process which brought Tinubu to power. The Judicial process is not something saner country's judiciary can touch even with a long spoon.
How many 3rd world countries still use manual collation of votes results?
Which other country's court would not ask the INEC Chairman: if your transmission system developed a problem, why didn't you suspend the transmission/collation process momentarily, and restore the system, thereafter, continue the transmission/collation process?

2months ago, if u have a $1000k, u can buy N1.8m worth of goods.
Now that ur 1k dollar can only buy N1m.
If u decide to take this advice, ur 1k dollar may only buy N700k worth of things in the near future.
No wonder Obi decided to take advice from a mad man instead of his supporters
she is not stupid, the value of things you bought at 1.8m you should still buy at 700k if your Naira truly appreciated and not fixed that is what she is explaining

You are not making any sense! That fact of the black market has always been the case even from when I was a kid in that same Nigeria. Yet, that didn't result in average Nigerians acquiring dollars to keep for themselves or something. Why? Because average Nigerians living in Nigeria barely even have Naira-5K in their bank accounts. Your government admitted to only 5% of the people having above N 500,000 in their bank accounts. So, how many of them do you know of that have dollars let alone $1000 in their hands as we speak? undecided

The advise to hurriedly sell dollar is for those who bought it for speculation and they are already running at a loss

But do you think that someone who made his dollar legitimately from selling real goods/service should also hurry to sell?

This advise and talking point is no longer making any sense. If the dollar I have predates this exchange rate madness why should I sell. Dollar holds its value and remain a good store of wealth irrespective of whether naira rises or falls.

Have the politicians including Tinubu sold all their dollars?

I get the angle you are coming from, infact my last comment i mention there are two kinds of people with dollars, those earning dollar and those that bought dollar as an investment .. the later are the enemies of Nigeria and the ones in big Mess cos they used hard earn naira to buy dollar , for them the devaluation is in the naira cost

what you bought @ $1/1700 is going to $1/900 .. dollar hold it value but your 1700 to $1 is gone wink

The lie and propaganda government is simply subsidising the dollar just as they are doing with the fraudulent fuel subsidy case. This is because the price of goods and services are not on a commensurate downward trend as the dollar is allegedly doing. This is why Reno Omokri propaganda of recent is only focused on this issue.
This dollar thing is looking like a scam to me, because the rate it's using to drop is not logical and by the time it rises again, I pray we are not gonna end up in hot soup cus I wonder why dollar is dropping and naira is gaining ut yet goods and services price in Nigeria is not dropping ,who are they fooling

She's referring to consumer goods that are imported... Like electronic gadgets, cars, machines, etc.
It's same as long as it is imported when Naira started gaining against the Dollar, for every #1 gain the Naira makes, the lesser the value the Dollar being held and the more such person will pay when purchasing goods imported with a gained Naira vs Dollar
