As long as it’s youth football the best talents are not always taken

Create an open trial and 10% of those boys won’t make the final list you won bet

It is about unearthing gems. Without an open trial, Osimhen might not have made the U17 team if we used this format.

Finito.

Yes inputs from local coaches who are running youth football across Nigeria.

Which kind of scatter approach is this? Is that how they build teams? There must be a binding philosophy and selection plan to lead the process. I wish them good luck but this is bent, bias and partial. Out of the norm.

Did the coach do an open trials for the current team ??

My only wish is for example there’s a World Cup u-17 in 2 years time

Get at least 200 13-15 years old train and screen them to 25 man squad
Then train that 25 young lads for 2 years straight going against top academies and amateur teams

And see if we won’t be deadly

If that is how they want to run it from now on, it is that business. But you see 2013 and 2015 set, the approach was open and thorough and we unearth gems. Anything out of that is outside the norm set and partial. If you like it this way, congrats. I like the 2013 and 2015 way.

By the way, no one said Manu Garba should do it alone but the project should be his brain child. This is not his project and this is not his team. Manu Garba is just a face to sell the team. Let them tell us those who drew the U17. If they are that good, they should coach and Manu Garba should go home.

Finito.
Sir,why are you complaining for Manu Garba.Let him come out to tell us I can’t handle this team cuz it is not my team if he has the integrity

Who is complaining for Manu Garba? I am speaking against the system. Rohr keeping quiet and paying part of his money to an NFF official did not make it right. Finito.

True. He speaks based on timing hence this article from yesterday but I am afraid as well coz he may not find the quality needed in certain roles if he limits his sights to certain places only. The NFF is to be blamed for this. Just hoping Manu and the crew makes the most of this short period.

Golden Eaglets rule out open screening

Hundreds of aspiring hopefuls were left disappointed at the Golden Eaglets first training in Abuja after they were sent away without getting the chance to try out with the national U17s.

Officials told SCORENigeria that with the short time to prepare for the U17 AFCON qualifiers in Ghana, coach Manu Garba is fully focused on working only with the 51 players he invited.

It was further learnt that most of the invited players have already done the mandatory MRI age test and are therefore eligible to feature at the WAFU B U17 AFCON qualifiers in Ghana from May 15.

Coach Manu was assisted by the team co-ordinator for the two training sessions on the first day of training camp Thursday.

It is expected that the newly constituted backroom staff will also soon be in place.

Nigeria are the defending WAFU B U17 champions after they beat Burkina Faso in the championship game in Cape Coast, Ghana, two years ago.

Source: Score Nigeria

Note: This article is from yesterday and preceded the other article on Olumide joining the with the team and Manu likely to consider talents from the Youth Leagues outside the 51

Sir,Nigeria youth football teams from time immemorial are based on recommendations. My secondary school friend and junior Tolagbe Alanamu was recommended from Kwara YSFON team for Fanny Amu and was dropped for Celestine Babayaro in the Japan 93 final squad.

Thank you. Very simple. And still keep holding screening sessions to keep identifying gems. Let see if top countries won't run with their tails between their legs when they face us.

Those running our football have been detrimental to our growth.

Recommendation does not stop competition and does not give any player a free pass. Recommendation does not stop opening screening as done in 2013 and 2015.

Everything in this country is connection. If hundreds of players gate crashed, at least give them a benefit of doubt. But NO. I believe those 51 players were recommended by top politicians. Let's watch and see. If Manu Garba fails in this WAFU tourney, he will bear the consequences alone. None of those politicians will even give him a shoulder to cry on.

He’ll not bear any consequences because people at the top knew the kind of players they forced on him so nothing new

We the fans would be mad after 2-4 he’ll be given the job again rinse repeat

Honestly I can’t say much for senior team football

But when it comes to u-20 and below I believe we have the caliber to be top 3 team on the world that’s a certainty but no only the privileged will get selected

If it was today’s metrics we go by I’ll feel sorry for osimenh and some other players

They have screened them, means cleared for the competition without a coach. You can imagine.

The truth is that these players that are forced on coaches most of them later fall out and will not even be considered to super E

In the end na who do well statistically and play for a big team constantly we go still pick

Take note of players like anayo and co that lost to Mexico in friendly how many of them are in super eagles now

This rubbish can happen in younger teams but in super eagles we go rebel

The NFF has a functioning under 15/16 team since Amaju era. The team is made up of the best young talent across the country. They were recently denied visa by Spain for a UEFA under 16 tournament. Read the news to know whatz up, not everything be fraud. Rest!

Osimhen made it through an open screening. He did not even make the first cut. It was an assistant that intervened and told Amunike to give Osimhen another shot and Amunike watched him closely and saw his quality.

If it is with this bent system, Osimhen won't go near.

Recommendation is not a free pass into a squad. It is to join the screening process among the selected ones.

In this case, even the coach did not select the players. Let us call a spade what it is. This is wrong and terrible. We have suffered recently in the U17 because of stopping the open screening process. It is the key ingredient that makes us stand out.

By the way, this is not about recommendation but a corrupt selection. The NFF should openly defend the selection process or hide their heads in shame.

Finito.
