Love800:fraudsters have spoilt business relationships. There was a time I went to lagos and bought suits of N60,000. I transferred the money, but the business didn't see it and I was in a hurry to go to the airport, they asked me to give them my mobile number. And their own was on the receipt. When I got to abuja, I called them and they said they had received it. Just for the trust they had in me, next time I went to lagos, I went and patronised them again. And they were grateful |

Thankgodiyke:initially didn't want to post, but going through some comments; It's so disheartening that some people still have the audacity to praise the creativity of a criminal. What you called small change isn't even small change for some people. It's so sad that you're duped at the detriment of your genuiety and your kind heart. Sir, the society is toxic and polluted. Hence, one need to be very careful. Sometimes when these scammers or fraudsters are being caught and jungle justice is done on them, it's the same people that will be pleading that it's just a small items they stole. A thief is always a thief no matter the quantity of the items or money stolen. It shouldn't be encouraged in our society. So sorry to hear about this. God will bless you in other ways. |

NoahHadNoArk:We're living in a damaged society jor. If not ehnnnn, how will any sane individual justify stealing and fraudulent activities? This is the same society in which we have many providing justification for and advocating for youths to engage in Cyber crimes. You shouldn't be surprised though. During the time of Naira scarcity last year, I bought goods of almost #10k from a woman and paid via transfer, I waited for more than 30 minutes and the woman didn't receive any alert. I was inside a bus on my way home when the bank refunded the money back to my account. I just had to come down from the bus and go back to that woman's store to effect the transfer again. The saddest thing is that the woman was surprised by my deeds. My advice to everyone is to be wise sha, we're in a generation of vipers. There are many looking for others to victimize, that's why I told someone that we as a society, are a reflection of our politicians who we're wired to bash. It is not just our politicians alone that are destroying the image of Nigeria abroad. An average Nigerian is considered fraudulent on first sight abroad even to their fellow country men. |

Thankgodiyke:. Op, few questions: At what point did the guy start coughing? If he started coughing after your wife told them she has not seen the money yet. That was a big red flag! When the woman started complaining that her baby was crying, was she there with the baby? If not did you yourself hear baby's cry anywhere? If the answer is no that was definitely another red flag. By the way, you should have wondered why would the baby start crying just when your wife told them she hadn't seen the money they claimed they have transferred! Moreover, you or your wife should have asked the customer to at least show you real sms debit alert from the customer's phone as an evidence that the money actually left her account but you didn't do that. The customer dropped her phone number and you did not bother dialling the number in their presence to be sure she dropped a right number! Hopefully you have learnt your lesson. Next time you must insist on seeing the money reflected on your account by logging into the bank's mobile app to confirm before you release your goods no matter the pressure from the customer or the drama or emotional manipulation they try to display, especially if he is somebody you don't know from Adam |

Sounds better now. I used to think that the fake alert will involve me getting a credit alert from my bank or a proxy bank impersonating account. |

Love800:Call customer service, to activate E mail notification only, and de activate sms notifications. Obviously the scammer, doesn't have your email address only the bank, and you would be aware it's only mail you receive notifications. So when he sends, a fake sms notification, you would know it's fake already. Pin him there, by telling him you need to verify, and call the police immediately or draw the attention of your neighbors, by the time 3 slaps land on his face, you will see him confessing immediately. Ensure you don't pity, the criminal, that would be your worst mistake, allow the law take action. These scammers never learn till they face the full wrath of the law. |

RecentHistory:You're actually the one without knowledge of the Bible. Read this Bible verse below and tell us what it means: 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. |

iamtoofan:You said the seller was not being nice . Is the opposite of nice not almost hostile ? If seller had stood his grounds for confirmation before anything even while they said the baby was crying and all. What he did was out of compassion. Some people will not hear story , they won't care if the child is truly crying or whatever, they will collect their money. Is that the kind of person you want the OP to run into? Your last statement. I can't reply you. We don't know ourselves |
