Testiebobo: Some people like me has phobia for wearing used clothes especially from someone you know. I don't give out what I wear to another person. Disease plenty |
Re: Helping The Poor These Days Is Very Dangerous by Elsueno: 3:54pm On May 01 |
Testiebobo: Worry not, plenty people dey like that, don't know wether na pride or just plain jealousy. Don't let that stop u from helping others in need. Anybody that displays this kind of attitude to me, I just assume he/she is secretly wealthier than me & that's the last time he/she would get anything from me |

Testiebobo: His attitude initially did not show he was ungrateful. Even that of his mother too. Perhaps they felt you wanted to use it as an instrument of witchcraft of ritual. I won't blame them because of the level of wickedness in Nigeria today, for all they know, your intentions may not be genuine. I would have suggested you gave him money, or took him to a boutique and pay for his choices. I am not saying you did wrong bro, but just being objective as per naija matter. The one that happened to me was also in church. I was young then, and there is this older man who was my 'friend'. He was a taxi driver and seemed to be passing through hard times then as he didn't even have a car to drive at that moment. So one sunday, I saw him with a blue trouser torn at the upper nyash side. I was trying to be polite so I went to him and told him somebody wanted to make him a new trouser and that he should meet a tailor (a young guy I was trying to support) to take his measurement. The man squeezed his face and told me straight up that no he doesn't want. Na so I respect myself. What you said is true, but some have their reasons. Some are due to what they have seen or where they have been in life. Some still in their past and feel receiving certain help belittles them. |

nifemi25: I think it's even more dangerous taking or accepting help and gifts from people like the OP. Imagine the mentality and his way of reasoning. That he decided to even create a thread for it is what annoys me most. |
Re: Helping The Poor These Days Is Very Dangerous by drsibz66(m): 5:27pm On May 01 |
Elsueno: They didn't display any attitude to him. He concluded from his own assumptions . Because he has never seen the guy wear the clothes . Ask him if the recipient is someone he sees everyday to know whether he wears the clothes or not. And secondly why is he concerned about him wearing the clothes for him to see. People should not accept help or favour from his type. |

Testiebobo: Don't be upset about it because that could be his best cloth and may be worn during festive period or when he travels to the village. May be he may not feel comfortable when wearing it for you to see, couple with the fact that, the neighborhood could easily identify it that it is yours. |

I'm not surpised about OP's complaints Such a thing happens when you help people that are deep rooted in superstitious beliefs |

Nazgul: Your reason is still not reasonable. The main thing is that he has done his good part by helping the boy which he will get his reward back from God. If the mother of the boy didn't appreciate what he did for the son he should just ignore her and focus on his business. The bible said do not weary in well doing. |
Re: Helping The Poor These Days Is Very Dangerous by achimendy(m): 10:13pm On May 01 |
Testiebobo: You've done your good part by helping the son, if they didn't appreciate ignore them and keep doing what you doing. God will surely bless you. |

Nazgul:You're not making an iota sense . So just because one person doesn't appreciate a kind gesture means that all person(poor and struggling ) are the on the same level of ingratitude...abi? |
Re: Helping The Poor These Days Is Very Dangerous by Justnation: 6:58am On May 02 |
You have given him the clothes don't monitor how he is using them so that it will not appear as if you have other motives. God is the ultimate rewarder of good deeds |
