Hello guys, please I have a question. My friend wants to apply for US visa. He’s been rejected Canada student visa. Do they share the same portal? He doesn’t want to declare the rejection since it was many years ago.

Hey 🤠

1. You cannot expedite (fast track / request for emergency) anything when you are placed on 221g (Administrative processing) because the embassy herself is waiting on further information or instruction as regarding your mum's visa decision .

2. Your mum's overstayed back in 2020 might have been given another meaning (not covid related) by the embassy , thereby trying to see if they should impose the 181 days unlawful presence (overstayed) attracts 3 yrs visa ban.

4. Another angle is that if your mum has visited one or two of her children , then the embassy might be doing background checks on the children (s) as well as your mum's activities while in the USA.

5. In all, providing the correct and required items / information (s) required according to the 221g slip promptly and accurately can speed up your mum's administrative processing.

6. Keep eyes on your mum's email and usually check spam mails because you should not miss any correspondence at this time . Your only option is to keep praying and wait till November . 221g administrative process can be indefinite but the embassy is working on it.

Best Wishes 🙏

Thank you for this explanation, she was actually visiting her elder sister. So I hv just asked Mama to snap the slip she got again, please I hv attached it- i see that the 221g box wasn’t ticked. Can you pls explain this form if you hv an idea.
Thank you

Hey 🤠

1. What i could read there is that Mama is not qualify for drop box and that she should apply for regular appointment (if i see it well because i use R specs ).

2. The other instructions is not too feasible to read for me.

Hello guys, please is there anyother way to get interview dates if you get the 221g slip?
My mom applied for interview waiver back in 2022 and she got the 221g slip, we weren’t able to get dates until I saw for this May. They have now resheduled it to November. She overstayed in 2020 because of the COVID-19 shut down. Has anybody faced this before.
Thank you

I stayed 6 months and 17 days in 2020 during the covid lockdown, however before the ending of my 6 month stay stamped at the POE, i applied for extension of my stay. I left america immediately flights were made available for nigerians in July 2020. Did you mom apply for extension? If she did , then i guess she wont have issues during her interview.

So overstaying during covid should not be an issue as long as you applied for extension because I have done dropbox after then and travelled to the US 3 times since the renewal.

Since she is an elderly woman, I don't think they will stress her.

The B1/B2 Visa is valid for 5 years with multiple entry.
You can't stay as much as you want on a visit or entry, because CBP or I94 is restricted to 6 months per entry.
You should use your first entry as stated in your application, though circumstances change.
If you stay as much as you want - 8 weeks, 9 months, 2 years - on a single visit/entry, then what happens to your job, business and/or school you said you have in Nigeria (profile) when you applied or at your interview?
Your renewal or subsequent immigration plans with the US will be judged based on all you do.

Hi Guys
Good morning

Please still on this visiting visa stuff, I'm meant to know that it has a validity of 5 years with multiple entries of 6 months each.

1) So if I go for a 1 week conference and stay for maybe 5 months then return back to Nigeria. I hope I'm still safe and it's not a red flag for next time

2) Since it has multiple entries, 6 months each for a period of 5 years, does it mean next time I want to use the visa I don't need to go to the embassy for a visa approval again. I just need to book my flight and go?

Please I need honest answers from people that know well about it

Major red flag. 5 months per stay of 180 days. Major red flag.
Your five years is your 5 years no need to return to the embassy until your five years lapses except your visa is canceled or revoked God forbid. But don’t stay 5 months at stretch

Hey 🤠

**Yes. If you have 5 years visa today and you travelled to the USA and stayed let's say 1 month and return back to Nigeria. You won't need to go back to the USA embassy again let's say next year 2025 if you want to attend a wedding in the USA. All you have to do is pick up your passport and buy flight ticket. The 5 years you got in 2024 will last you till 2029.

1. Focus on securing your B1/B2 visa first. When you are able to secure your visa , the United States embassy will issue 5-yrs tourist/visiting visa to you .

2. Effective from last year (2023), people
holding business and tourist visas (B1/B2) can now apply for new jobs in the USA. Ipso facto, with your B1/B2 visa you can appear for job interviews for prospective employment .

3. However, the USA Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) stipulated that your employer (s) must change your B1/B2 visa status before you resume the job.

4. If you go for 1 week conference and after the conference you find a vacancy you can go and apply with your B1/B2 and if they gave you the job your employer will work out how to change your B1/B2 to a relevant work visa and there you go, you can then start your job without coming back to Nigeria.

5. Focus on securing your B1/B2 visa first and attend your conference. ** However, if you cannot find employment on time do not stay longer than 6 weeks if you enter the USA on business purpose. You can always return back to the USA as many time as you want within those 5 years .

Best Wishes 🙏.

1. Six months is the maximum you can stay on a visit visa without being out of status on that visa.

I'll write the rest in bold.
CBP custom border patrol is the final determinant of ENTRY into the US. They have the right to interview, question you, and DEPORT you and even reduce that six months to one week. Lastly they can CANCEL the visa

So if you enter US saying I'll stay 1 week and you stay 5 months and leave.

When you return to the US, CBP will ask you about your previous stay.

2. You don't have to return to the embassy until 5yrs expires.
But as I said in 1 - border patrol also have jurisdiction over visas issued from the consulate so be guided when you take you options.

They don't stamp 6 months at the US airports.. however you can check it online.i94

B Part
Yes, for the next 5 years, you just book flight and go.

A Part
Can you be in the US for 5 months using your 5 yr multiple entries visa?
Yes you can. But what are your plans for the 5 months? What will you be doing?
How will you fund the 5 months stay. Food. Accommodation. Day to day expenses.
You may cause your visa to be cancelled and not even allowed to complete a 2nd trip.

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by wuki: 6:36pm On May 03
I had applied for IW for my dad -- but instead he got his passport back with form 221g. No reason was indicated on the form itself.

I booked his interview appointment which happened Wednesday. I had suspected he was summoned to appear in-person because he had stayed in the U.S for 22 weeks on his last visit. And sure enough, during the interview, he was asked to explain the extended stay. He was there for medicals and it took weeks to run diagnostics and tests -- not to mention, another couple of months to get an appointment for surgery. Of course he was asked to provide documents to support the claims: luckily he brought his medical receipt, showing payment (with zero balance) along with dated transcripts of his hospital visits. This is important.

He was asked a few more questions: like purpose of trip this time, how long he intends to stay, etc. Visa was approved and the process lasted 10 minutes.

Anyway, I haven't been on this forum in a couple of years but just wanted to share the experience in case it might help someone in a similar situation. I just wish they would make the 221g a bit clearer so the candidate can come prepared. I had only second-guessed and fortunately he brought the documents; otherwise, this could have gone either way.

One other thing that stood out to me: he mentioned that the process has changed a bit from the last time he visited the embassy back in 2019. He said, they now scrutinize applicants and some are sent away without an interview during the pre-screening process prior to being allowed in. I thought that was wild considering the time and cost involved in applying only to be told one doesn't qualify for interview.

If you want to leave NG finally, just do so at once.
Living with your aunt for 5 months and to return to NG is just a lot of strain on her and a lot of money you want to spend - return ticket and other costs. I must let you know the US is an 'individualistic' society, people dont cater for others easily or freely. After a while your relationship with your aunt (her husband, kids) will become fraught. 5 months is a long time. She may be willing to do so for you for a month, or 2 months or even 3 months, pending when you start playing your part. I am not sure you'd get a whole room to yourself. You can't bunk in someone living room for 5 months or even share room for 5 months with your 'cousins' before stories that touch begins.
Back to my question of what you want to do for the 5 months while in the US, waiting on your response.
Also, if you are away for 5 months, what happens to the things you are currently doing in NG (work, business or school)?
