Dear Gazzuzz sir, I won't even try reverting to full synthetic oil. The previous owner used 20w50, so i believed i inherited part of this sludge
GAZZUZZ:

Recommended oil is no longer an option

A gallon of mobil1 will cause this engine to throw a rod in less than 500miles

Did your vehicle manual recommend the engine flush?

For me, I would slowly reduce my oil servicing interval so as not to double my cost of servicing, then continue driving it that way till the engine quits while saving for a replacement engine.

Stop using engine flush. Let the mechanic remove as much sludge as he can remove with his hands, close up engine and always change your oil at 1000miles which is 1600km or 2 to 3months whichever comes first.
The sludge will eventually decrease with frequent oil changes but ensure the oil is mineral oils.

Anything make you switch to synthetic the bleech and detergent in that synthetic oil will wash all the sludge down blocking your oil strainer and oil pump, engine go knock laslas

Hello experts

I am new in the car line I have a corolla 2009. but I need advice on what to do.. after servicing my car in December. they changed the fuel pump saying it was faulty and some basic servicing. I did not know much so I agreed. Few weeks after I am battling with some issues. My AC and car steering (baba stiff like say them put glue) once I start the car in the morning sometimes it will work after turning the steering sometimes I will drive some distance before the steering will be free and the dashboard light goes away. for some reason once the steering works fine, the AC works well.. but they both have issues same time. I took it to Ladipo they said it's a steering pump issue which they fixed but the issue persists. Some said it's the sensor and another person said it's the steering rack. at this point, I need help with a good Mechanic to help diagnose the issue-
@Radautoworks and @Gazzuzz @kingreign I have been reading and I see your comment and advice.

any good auto shop in Lagos I can fix the issue.

You have an electronic assisted steering.

The issue you have is a partial Contact in the fusebox . Remove all fuses that have wires and replace with original . Look into the +50A
card fuses usually from that area

Re: Maintenance Tips On Cars. by Osasnat(m): 8:40pm On May 05
okay, I will look into that, can I contact you on the WhatsApp line?. I don't want to go to just anyone.

Can I reach you on the number. Can the fuse still affect the temp indicator and RPM not function intermittently?

Hello GAZZUZZ,

Please what do you think could be the reason why the accelerator pedal of a car can just stop working while driving.

If I park the car for like 10mins or more, then I start the car, it will start working again then after a while of driving, still on motion it will stop working again(accelerating the car) till I park the car to restart again after a while.

Good morning.
Please what engine oil would be recommended for a Rav 4 2004 model that currently has around 202,000 miles on the odometer?

Chairman, one quick question.
In removing a cat converter, which method is better between gutting and straight piping?
I have a 2005 accord with a gutted cat, it sounds a bit like a leaking exhaust and I'm not sure why. Probably due to the absent cat. I've had 3 different panel beaters look at it and all insisted there was no leak. I don't mind living with the sound as it is, but I was wondering if putting a straight pipe in place of the cat pot will make it sound better or add any benefit overall.
Thanks.

The recommended oil is 5W30. If it's Nigerian used, I think the bosses here usually recommend continuing the oil the former user was using.

I serviced the valve body yesterday, still having the issue. Well! Shift solenoids isn’t replaced. Sir, could recommend anywhere I get this done. Ibadan would be much preferable. I can as well go to Lagos.
If you can come to Lagos, that'll be good. Send me an email

if you got it toks, you should use foreign synthetic mobil 1(5w-30, 5w-20 or 0w-20) as indicated on the oil filler cap but if you bought it nigerian used, use the local synthetic oil, semi-synthetic or mineral oil but that will depend on the state of the engine

Nigerian used. Engine is in excellent condition. Only major maintenance i had to do was radiation tank replacement as the old one was leaking and gasket replacement as it got damaged during replacement of the radiator tank
So mobil 1 5w 30 it is?
Any cheaper and reliable alternative please?

Synthetic oil will make your engine live free of sludge. I always do recommend the US mobil 1 however there's a widespread of fake synthetic mobil 1 oils in the market so if you have to use mineral oils, be sure you reduce your oil change intervals to 2-3 months or 2000-2500km

In most online car communities all over the world, there is a lot of knowledge sharing in helpful manner. However, some of our people tend to fall into the trap of being conceited after getting some basic knowledge on cars. I'm not sure they realise that the automotive industry is constantly evolving. EVs are gaining popularity among car owners, and the knowledge of internal combustion engines would be outdated soon.
