I will be going with agrovert 20:20:20 has a balanced fertilizer as Okro grows while still producing pods hence needs every nutrients required to boost growth and flowering.
What was the result of this experiment

The agrovert actually helped with the overall growth of the plant and gave it better immunity to fight against the Okro mosaic virus. I can conclude on this due to other farms around me already ravaged with the virus, so sad 😞

Southwest market likes the kirikou f1 seed and not the long tiny lady fingers planted by the Hausa

Imiforce, dimeforce are detrimental to whitefly , also ensure proper weeding of the farm and the environment. All the best sir

No, kirikuo is an hybrid, my variety is OPV. It terms of yield I will go for OPV as both will produce based on your Agronomic management. Kirikou is too expensive to plant on a large scale now !
My opinion

Pls my dear okro Farmers, is there brand of okro that matures and produce within 40 days?.
I have been seen promotion of a kind of okra called 40 days okra on social media. How truth is this and is it marketable in the South here?.

They call it Joko so . Literally means sit and fruit. You can ask yourself... how's sitting related to height?

It's actually 45 days but it's the long slim fruits varieties. It's more of northern choice and some foreigners also crave for it. It's not marketable in the South except during dry season when the short fruits are very scarce.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. How many seeds per hole will you advice during planting? As for spacing, I intend using 50cm btwn plant and 3ft btwn row. Am I in line?

As the popular saying goes “ for you to receive you have to give” I have been on the receiving end for quite sometime now and I feel obligated to give back my token as a sign of appreciation for a successful farming year. Follow me as I break down in details what it entails to be successful in Okro production all year round

First and foremost I welcome everyone to this thread. Keep in mind that the road to be a successful farmer is laced with hard work, consistency and getting the right method and seed. I will be sharing with you from my experience as an Okro farmer for about 3 years now consistently

Jub101:
A full Okro season takes about 4 month. Okro starts to produce after 60days of planting and the harvesting goes on for 2 months if well managed. There are different varieties of Okro out there but the best is the short evergreen lady finger. I will post a picture of it when I get to the farm
Nice thread.
Re: Diary Of An Okro Farmer by AlphaTaikun: 1:52am On Dec 30, 2025
Jub101:
There are other varieties but the market we sell to determines the one we plant and to add to that the evergreen lady finger is more easy to manage when it comes to spraying pesticide than the other tall varieties and also get the best price in market.
Pics.
