Good day everyone, I have been inspired by the comments and contributions of everyone of you and I must confess I really want to venture into the field of tech. Could anyone give a timeline on how to go about it? That is, where to start from, the steps, the programs, courses to take and so on. In all frankness, I'm completely ignorant in the coding line and I need someone to kindly explain the process to me. All contributions are accepted. Thanks. |

jelel6:God bless you... if we be honest, the Nigeria university system is absolute rubbish, outdated course lay out, out dated curriculums, out-dated lesson notes, lecturers recycling same lesson notes since 1980... and this is in all departments, no exceptions... I read comment sections of those youtube course channels, I discovered most people even from universities in the abroad even with their updated curriculums and notes, they learn python, c, c++, Java, not Java script, then they come out to learn, css,Django, Javascript, etc online... then as a Nigeria you say a company requires a degree, what degree? ... |

chinasaekpere:Hi Op! I know it's been a while you posted this, but I just wanted to ask if you were required to make a discounted payment prior to being enrolled for this course. Also in your view, how would you compare this meta front end course to IBM front end course? |
| Re: I Just Secured My First Tech Job. I'm So Happy. by chinasaekpere(op): 9:47pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
challengemaster:meta course is better. Mine was totally free, but I heard it's not free anymore |
| Re: I Just Secured My First Tech Job. I'm So Happy. by challengemaster: 11:11pm On Jul 06, 2024 |
chinasaekpere:I attempted taking the IBM Front End Course and was required to pay a discounted fee to be enrolled. I thought it was a glitch initially but now I can confirm it's real. If you don't mind, what metrics support your verdict on meta being better compared to IBM? Have you had a previous experience with any of the IBM courses? Additionally, did you take any extra certification exam to land your job or you made do with the coursera professional certificate? |
| Re: I Just Secured My First Tech Job. I'm So Happy. by chinasaekpere(op): 6:38am On Jul 07, 2024*. Modified: 8:04pm On Jul 08, 2024 |
challengemaster:I took the frontend course meta and the backend course with IBM. IBM courses Dnt seem detailed and well-structured enough, as against the experience I had with meta. To land a job here, no one care about your certification. |

JAPAHTML:There are too many maybes in your post Anyone who dares get a remote tech job in this Nigeria right now and is earning forex and spending expenses in naira would be so rich they might even accuse him of being a yahoo boy Get a remote forex job too and see how your life will change right away like right in your presence whilst doing the minimum Europeans cities are expensive and the tax is crazy We talking intense wealth extreme wealth without ever leaving your comfort zone, you are talking about maybe someone will double his pay this that that this |

| Re: I Just Secured My First Tech Job. I'm So Happy. by challengemaster: 8:28pm On Jul 07, 2024 |
chinasaekpere:Sorry to bother you much, but did you combine the two(or more) courses within the said six months of intensive self-tutelage, or the backend came afterwards? |
| Re: I Just Secured My First Tech Job. I'm So Happy. by adonainana: 8:29pm On Jul 07, 2024 |
JAPAHTML:Everybody is making thier own money in thier own way The real gist was someone with a remote job living in Nigeria has more disposable income than someone with the same job living in an European city . The city that gave you the euros, pounds or dollars will take it back one way or ther other from you On the other hand, Nigeria is 10x less costly for forex earners That’s the discussion |

adonainana:My bro was getting 300 € here but when he traveled he was receiving €3988 for that same roll While spending only 1+5k both for electricity, rent water and internet Saving €2k+ Euros compare 2.8 million to ordinary 500k naira |
| Re: I Just Secured My First Tech Job. I'm So Happy. by adonainana: 8:37pm On Jul 07, 2024 |
JAPAHTML:He was probably getting scammed when he was receiving 300 euros back here For the 300 Euros he was receiving in Nigeria there is also someone here in receiving the full 3988 euros without having to leave the shores of Nigeria That’s just life bro If a company decides to pay you rubbish money , then that’s just you being unlucky Never compare anyone who has a good remote job to anyone who lives in Europe with the same job |

adonainana:You probably don't know what's job security, In that same company some are earning 8k-10 Euros per month That's promotion and job security you can't earn that down here, there are many roles you can't play while staying here, you are just lusting to free life and exchange rate while missing the real deal |

challengemaster:To be sincere, I don't think I would have done anything differently, because I already knew that I had to learn programming concepts before going into frameworks and backend. I am enjoying everything I do now in programming. |

Now this kind of job is with a good perspective. What is related to technologies is now at the top. You can take a course and learn something new. In addition, I have also found a team that is looking for some more a-players. In their team you can work as a Senior QA Engineer (web), Google Ads UAC Team Lead, Creative Producer etc. |

It's always exciting, I wish you a quick adaptation. A solid approach is to study different strategic frameworks and learn from real-world cases. I recently came across an interesting breakdown of CTO strategies at https://patternica.com/blog/cto-stategies, which, while focused on tech leadership, offers insights that apply broadly to strategic decision-making. Another tip is to set aside dedicated time for deep thinking—away from daily tasks. Many business owners find value in structured planning sessions or even executive coaching to refine their approach. Have you tried stepping back and mapping out your priorities? |
