If you watch keeping up with the Kardashian, you'll have a peek into the real lives of Americans. There is the rich and poor. The poor don't even have houses to live, they sleep outside in tent bags, really disgusting. And then lots of pollution goes on in that land. If only we could fight for our right here in Nigeria. Nobody will give it to us, we have to fight for it.

I lived in the UK for 10 years, I agree i think only when you think carefully and deeply would you appreciate some countries and some ways of life. Here in the UK, I found out that there are only 2 achievements the average man can achieve. The first is getting a Mortgage and the second is passing your driving test .

Not every one enjoys a better standard than us. That only applies to the highly or moderate educated Americans. Poor and non college educated Americans have poor standard of living. Many Nigerians who go and are unable to work with their certificates have really tough lives. I know some people (graduates from Nigeria ) that do 2 to 3 jobs just to survive. One told me, 4 of them rented a self contain apartment, because the monthly rent for a self contains is as expensive as a yearly rent in a 3 bedroom apartment in a suburb in Lagos.

I know several people who earn more than 3000 pounds and they are no where near anything like CEO.

A friend sent me his paycheck some months back and it was 6600 pounds-- young Nigerian guy!

For the Nigerian guy earning 1.5 million... It's good money in Nigeria,yes, but he won't live in a poor area.

In Lagos, he lives on the Island, pays rent of say 2.5 million, minus electricity.

...He pays for health ( worse if you don't have health insurance) and school fees ( if he has kids), and it has to be according to 1.5million salary standard.
Hospitals on the Island, deposit for admission would be at least 250K, even if you have malaria. Then school fees would shatter your brain!

All of these are free in some parts, once you pay rent ( and it's attached bills) and food, you are good to go.

70 percent of Nigerians will slide into poverty if they have an illness like kidney failure, but people still bounce around (like say nothing dey) in the UK.

All the tax paid in the West is geared towards making their lives better.
The plan is for as many people to live comfortable lives.
I have been to British Parliament and gone to the Prime Minister's office-- nothing grand. The rug in front of Theresa May's office showed it had been used very well!

The idea is to manage resources so as many people will live well.

Mind you 1.5 million naira earner in Nigeria CANNOT gallivant up and down-- no MONTHLY Harrod's or Dubai or anything, the money no reach. In the international market, it's still Forex you will pay.

Everyone is getting poorer in Nigeria even the rich, Dangote alone lost $3 billion cause of the devaluation. Now, You could say that Dollar hegemony is bad for Africa which is true but in all honesty with you. There’s nothing we can do about it. I feel all the poster is trying to say is this; Many people still live good in Nigeria irrespective of the gloom and vices here.

My sister in the UK is a lecturer but doesnt live larger than those here in Nigeria. The life according to her is tougher and stricter if there is anyword like that. That doesnt mean the UK is bad. Life is more relaxed here but the security and infrastructure especially roads here is something else. Electricity and borehole can be covered with solar but you will have to contain with many third world problems.

Nigeria and Africa in general is nowhere the West. Not by any stretch of imagination.
