I was arguing with my girlfriend as we were making plans to further our relationship, and she randomly made this statement “that 500k monthly salary is not even enough to survive”

Bro, we don’t even have kids yet. And her calculations were based off children school fees, sending family money and vacations.

I have seen someone earning 1.5m per month as far back as 2012 in a bank got sacked and went to start a job of 150k per month. He had to restructure his life and dat of his family. Life does not always go smoothly. Your girlfriend has told you the kind of person she is. Get urself some brain.

From the bigger picture, the lady is right. 500k isn't enough money in Nigeria currently, in as much as the money is substantial, it doesn't mean that you will just rely on only the 500k monthly. You also need to create side stream of income. Am sure your family that you send 200k monthly, they are not sitting idle waiting for your handout. Am sure they do some small small jobs to add up to the 200k. From what you just wrote, your lady is more concerned for you to have a side hustle to add up to the 500k income than just sitting and relying on only the 500k. If that's the case, she's a wise woman.
