I always tell people don't plan on other people's pocket. Plan based on whatever you have.

You better don't expect anyone for financial support towards your struggle for marriage ceremony. Will u still look for support to bring it family up?

That is because many of you think of love in terms of eros only...and many of you also look down on women or are angry with the minority of women that are femminists and too woke.

To truly love a woman, there has to also be agape and philos as well. That is what keeps the marriage going when the going gets tough.

If you marry as business, eventually it will break down by the time the children are old enough. And you will have your kids despise you. No, it is not because their mother caused it, it is because they have had their idea of the world around them damaged, and yes, they will also despise their mother.

Besides, you won't like it if your inlaw says he married your sister as a business thing.
The wise take marriage as business. Body go soon tell una

Good day Nairaland.

I will be brief.
I love this lady and I believe she loves me too because she is my dream woman.
we plan to get married by early next year, but the problem here is that my mom want me to hold on with the wedding because she feels I'm not buoyant enough for marriage.
My finance promise to support though.

By this year December, I should have saved 1.5M from my pocket and I believe family and friends will support as my total budget for the wedding is 2M.

Although I didn't tell her about my savings yet.
I don't want to enter a marriage without my parents support. Just few months left to new year and I'm so confused right now.

What should I do guys?
Why do you want to marry?

Go on with your plans, but do a lowkey ceremony. Let your inlaws be considerate with the list. Satisfy all traditional rites and proceed to do a court weeding. The traditional wedding should be a parlour event with only those who matter in attendance. After that opt for court wedding instead of church wedding.

Why do you have to spend all your savings on your wedding? You can do a small wedding that wouldn't take all your savings as there are more expenses to cover in marriage than the wedding day.

Pls don't ever consider marriage.

You people don't listen.

On this platform especially,it's said over and over that marriage is not for men .
Marriage is for women
Men have nothing to benefit from getting married.

If you are sure you have
1.The resources to cater to you and two more people after marriage.
2. The woman has been supporting you while in the relationship (not every woman earning money supports financially in the home)
3. You consider her an asset even when the love has washed from your face.
Then you should budget 1M for the wedding bearing in mind that some things may come up that will take part of the 500k
Save any other additional funds for use within the marriage.

It is not about the choice of wife.

Sometimes a man is not financially fit for an endeavour. I have told 2 close guys to make money well first before adding a woman, they didn't listen and today their suffering knows bounds.

- How healthy is this your fiancée at the moment? Being in good health is extremely important. We are now seeing young people marrying people with chronic diseases such as Asthma, Cancer, Diabetes etc., and living with enormous regrets. Who you marry is the most important decision you will ever make in life. Don't be blinded by "love" lust or trends. No uncle or aunt is coming to save you when you find yourself in penury.

- Meanwhile, you haven't even started and you're expecting others to pick up some of your self-imposed bills? You're not ready for marriage, young man.
