Go and check how much the government have invested on power since the last 8 years and see if is not over trillions.

The harsh truth is government investments over the years haven't reached up to ten trillion naira. Meanwhile the experts say we need ten trillion to fifteen trillion naira annually over at least 5 years...to get to 24 hours supply for those on the grid right now. Extending that to everyone in the nation means more money

And that can come from increased investment, which is not possible without cost reflective tarrifs. It's effing painful, but it is what it is.

Nigerians are being robbed in a broad daylight by the DISCO'S and GENCOS.

The kind of discos that

1.Until recently were not allowed to charge cost reflective tarrifs(and were only allowed to do so for 20% of their consumers), meaning that they ran up massive losses annually, and government subsides were not enough...meaning they had to take loans, and in some instances, withdraw from the business altogehter

2. Work in an environment where power theft is massive

3. Above adds up to poor profit , and by extension loss of ability to replace and buy transformers and poles

4.As a result of discos not making bank, gencos owe gas companies a lot of money. Even the government attempt to pay the money only covered what the government owed per subsides. It doesn;t cover the whole debt. That's a part of why we have blackouts....gas companies periodically refusing to supply gencos with gas.

IN ALL, NEPA HAVE PERFORM FAR BETTER THAN THEM.
