I got myself into this trouble three weeks ago.

I was out of town when I received a call from a friend. We had been friends since when we were in school. Though we didn't see regularly (the last time we saw before this incident was over 8 years ago) but we conversed regularly. When he called he informed me he needed to stay with me that he had an issue with his landlord. He wasn't really explicit or straight in his explanation. When i was reluctant, he mentioned that he was staying for just one week. Okay, no problem. I said.

When i returned home, i refuse to call him because it needed my space for myself so as to be able to attend to some urgent works. The second day after the agreement was sealed, he asked if i had returned i told hime i wouldn't be returning until that evening.

This friend came with his bag very early the following day which was a Monday morning. It was after he settled in that I got to know that he left another friends house for my house. And before he went to that person house, he had been staying with another friend. Whatever reason he left that person's house, i wouldn't know. The moment he came, he started calling people (his mum, brother and girlfriend), citing my address as his current location.

My major headache is, this person had already spent three weeks and he doesn't seem ready to leave. All he does is, press phone, sleep and wakeup. He has already strained my food supply. I am hardly at home; I go to work in the morning and return late at night. I just noticed food I can't finish in two months vanished in two weeks. He uses my toiletries (bathing soap included), my hair cream and body cream.

What pains me is, he isn't coming out straight and is not seem comfortable discussing what his plans are. He only seems fixated with online business or whatsoever.

I will appreciate ideas on how to tell this friend to excuse me.

Could be that he’s checking for foodstuffs on MarketspaceNG & can’t seem to make up his mind on which one to surprise you with.

I wonder why some of you are this weak, agreement is agreement. He said he'll stay for a week before you allowed him in and he has stayed more than that now.

NO long story.Plan with your agent/landlord to bang into 3 apartment like yours(so that he won't be suspicious of your Intentions)Once they reach yo door mouth,he should ask u questions about your visitor and give him 2 hours to vacate.He go panic and start packing his BAGCO SUPER SAC he came with

If you throw him out he would still go elsewhere to inconvenience another person, tell him he needs a job or something doing to fetch money. If he's not consuming your food and toiletries, you only need to endure for him to get a new place or loan him to get the smallest accommodation. Some friends are closed to you like a brother they're there for you in your lowest moments when everyone tags you a liability, while some friends would run once you become irrelevant.

You shouldn't have told him "Okay, no problem". You should've told him not to come, especially with him not being explicit nor straight with his explanation, and you needing your place to yourself (duh). Somebody who cannot be honest with you and answer your questions straightforwardly isn't someone you should allow into your house. He obviously couldn't be honest about why he was leaving the previous place that he was kicked out and that he has no plans to leave if he comes stay with you.

Besides, he has a girlfriend, brother and mum. Why didn't he go stay with one of them? They probably wouldn't let him stay with them or he didn't want to inconvenience them but has to inconvenience you. If he has lived in different places before you, then he's a mooch that's just using people (other than his loved ones) to get by. Just find a way to get him out.

Until they arrest you for boarding a criminal. Why are y'all too weak to confront people. Person moved into your house and instead of setting boundaries, you're coming to the internet to ask us.

He has already sited the weakness in you and that's why he turned your house into his current address.

My friend I hosted freely for 5years with his own room is beefing me after asking him to move out. The economy is tough now, everyone should take care of himself 🤷🏿.

It's not accommodating someone that's the issue but them becoming a liability instead of an asset is the main issue. Well, op for this your liability, treat him like a liability.

It's a very simple stuff.... Just tell him that the agreement has elapsed, he asked for 1 weeks and you gave me 3 and still counting...

Secondly if U have money, just support him with something to get a small house, even if it's just for few months, U are not under any obligation to do so, but do if U have the capacity..

Lastly if U are scared of confronting him, arrange with any lady that is close to U, let the lady bring in some bags with few clothes, tell him that Ur woman has come to spend a month with U, and you'll be needing some privacy.

Easy, just stand in front of them, look into their eyes and tell them you'll help them pack as they're leaving your house rn

Politely tell him to leave. He can't come and be sitting idle and be eating free meal while you work your ass out footing the bills. He has breached the agreement and outstayed his welcome so, he has to go.

You are already aware of how many places he has resided before coming to your place and do not know the reason behind why he left.....

There are lots of ways, you can make him leave your house.....but I won't want to tlgo that line.

You just need to tell him to contribute his quota as regards feeding in the house and use of toiletries. He should stop using your bathing soap especially if it's not his type......let him get his own or you can get him a pack of bathing soap(6 pieces) and observe him.

Why don't you have a one on one conversation with him about your depleting budget/supplies or better still pray to God to provide for you to accommodate him as long as you can. Because God wants us to accommodate the homeless.

Someone said he is a liability so treat him as such...


Ask him to wash plates and clean the house. People like that usually have huge ego and he would feel offended and leave by himself.



But seriously just ask the dude to leave... he said one week and agreement is agreement.


I'm seeing some wild suggestions on this thread and I'm wondering if people actually go to these lengths to do things for straight forward matters like this. Just tell the guy to go, it's as simple as that!

Life is not easy anywhere. You might regret everything you did to him later. Try see how you can assist him to get a one room apartment if you truly you call him your friend. Maybe what his pursuing is not working out. Try asked him how much he can raise see how to assist him. If you can't then do what pleases you. But I pray may God favour him.

Man you said you guys have been in touch for more than 8 years without seeing each other.. That's a very strong bond.

Anyone could be stranded and need help in whatever form. So far you have helped him with shelter, you've done great. He owes you every explanation as to what his circumstances are. Also, whoever owns the house gives instructions. You can instruct him not to touch your food since you can't afford to feed him.

You don't have to push him out with an excuse. If you can't make up your mind to tell him straight to leave, then it's your
subconscious mind passing you a message to be more compassionate and wait for him to sort himself out.

Tell him.. "Oga your time is up, when are you leaving*.
Life no suppose hard.. you sef stop allowing people into your home to avoid negative presence or afflictions.

Easy. Threaten to shoot him

Tell him to Leave in one Strong Language simple

Invite some bandits to come over to your house , let them torture him for 20mins

He would leave that same day 😔

Tell him Boko Haram / Fulani herdsmen sent a letter to the community that they would be coming in 3 days

Be a man and open up to him. Remind him that he has overstayed his welcome. Tell him to leave your house.

Very simple solution.

1 Go to Oyingbo market and buy a big bag of unpeeled egusi.

2 At night, put off the TV, say something like 'Uncle Pius, when you finish eating, help me peel small egusi".

3 Use paint rubber and pack a heavy heap of egusi in front of him let him peel.

Sit back, relax and see what God will do.

Let's try to be compassionate towards people please.


Help your friend, there's nothing wrong in doing so. But let him explain what the matter is

I once had this experience with a friend about two years back. He told me he will be staying only for two days. The next day I came back from work only to find his box and clothes in my room. I didn't waste time at all, I told him to leave my house ASAP. That wasn't the agreement we had. He was surprised. He also came from another friend's house to stay in mine. He begged for several hours. I kept quiet and walked away. Later in the evening I removed his things from my room and kept them at my varendar. That's when he knew how serious I was. Since then e dey carry face for me and me no send am one bit. This is the same guy his elder brother gave money to go rent an apartment but he used the money to play bet9ja virtual.
I don't accommodate rubbish and "krikoli" friends at all. You better force him out of your house else you will regret ever accommodating him. You don already dey reregt am sef
