Wakanakarue:Because the standard of living has risen astronomically than your parent's own. Most of our parents didn't drive cars throughout their service time, No pressure to change phone or wife's own, no pressure to send kids to private schools, many lived in 2 rooms alone and not flats etc. All these saves money that can be channeled into doing projects like house building. Many ladies won't even take your marriage proposal serious if you are not staying in a flat today and if possible have a car. If they try what we are doing now, many of them will die broke long before reaching 50 years. Our standard of living and taste will not allow us to have disposable income to fund projects. We can't eat our cakes and have it. |

Drsnives:Why private school? Did your dad trained you guys in private school or public? If you are to send your kids to public school today, don't you think you will have extra to do other things? |

My challenge isn't the financial aspect; it's how my parents managed to cope with all the noise. There were five of us growing up. My daughter alone is like ten children in the house. You can't get any rest whenever she's awake. She's always running from one end of the house to the other, and it's impossible to take your eyes off her for even a second; otherwise something might go wrong. I had my second child a month ago and I told my wife that two is enough. Children are a blessing, but they come with what I call a "sweet headache". |

Nice2023:I beg to differ in a way, statistically Gen Zs are living in the wealthiest times in human history, Gen Zs have access to wealth than previous generations. This is not to say that the income inequality gap is also at its broadest in modern history. But many Gen Zs are very myopic, I remember growing up, once my dad collects salary or earns a profit, he budgets his money. My dad was the person I learned saving and investing from. Many Gen Zs today cant start small, which is very bad. A Gen Z would prefer to spend 800k to get a phone, when he can invest that money in landed asset and build the house small-small. A Gen Z can also invest money in stock market or mutual funds or hold stable coins, but no, they prefer to dorime with any little cash they have. Most Gen Z dont believe wealth takes time, but in reality wealth compounds. I am happy that the smart and intelligent Gen Zs are silently stacking their wealth and making exploits even in this present Nigeria. Well those frivolous Gen Zs can continue their play, time will always humble us all. So yes times have change, but the world economy has grown bigger such that if GenZs were strategic, they would win big and maintain such profile. So in summary our generation is medically, academically, scientifically, financially better than that of our parents. ..... Ciscogod:My parents were and are very instrumental in my success as a young man .... emmaodet:You have hit the nail on the head. Only if Gen Zs know the amount of wealth that can be built with hard work, consistency and discipline. I ask why someone will comfortably live in a run down house and own an expensive phone, or wear expensive clothes? I ask why women who aren't financially capable will broke shame a decent struggling young man? I ask why women don't know that their window to get married closes at 27? and after that they are free to pursue their academic, financial exploits in their matrimonial home. But its all good, time will humble us all. Two things that are inevitable is death and passing of time To every parent out there that have raised their children with love, care and discipline, God bless you all. |

Honestly, now the chances for us to wriggle out of such situations is slim given how harsh the economic situation is getting; anyways my contribution to the society is to not bring any living thing to this world in a less average state. Elzazzi: |

Afrah04:I totally agree with you. No need to even bring in kids if one can’t take care of them. |

1. Exposures: There's an obvious awareness in human social status as a result of internet and globalization hence, the expected rise in standard of living, socialization, status, knowledge, competitions, and other areas. This can't be attributed to their era. 2. Unambitious: Majority of our parents in the past weren't as ambitious as we are in this contemporary era. This can be tied to the 1st point above. Example, most weren't so concerned about the future especially the less lettered ones amongst them. they were comfortable with basic things of life. 3. Religion: For me and my background, this is one of the most annoying point that muscled them in not ensuring better future for most of their wards. Funny enough, millions of Nigerians are still entrapped in this mental slavery called RELIGION. Enough said about this, it triggers my anger a lot. 4. Cultural/Traditional leanings: I'm not an advocate of cultural degradation but you cannot be culturally rooted and expect to be an encyclopedia of global wisdom, you just have to choose one. If you must be rooted in your traditional knowledge and practices, then face it squarely and dance to the rhythm of its blessings. Stop confusing your African ancestors! but No, most parents wanted globalization and still tied to their primitive, superstitious and crude ways of doing things until it became late that they could not plan better for their off-springs future. 5. Negligence and Biasness: Some of the parents were so negligent in their roles as fathers and mothers that their children turned out not good to compete in the current stiff and harsh realities of the modern digital age. I know about families and friends that experienced bias treatment from their biological parents. This is so wrong and unjustifiable as no child begged to be birthed into this world. If you lack time to dedicate to your child(ren), then don't give birth at all! If you can't give equal and immeasurable treatment and attention (unbiased), then also don't introduce any human to this wicked world. It's so wrong and traumatic! The list is endless but I'm tired of typing. Peace to y'al. |

Mattswaggz:All you mentioned weren't in terms of earnings and prices coefficients.foods were relatively cheap because alot people still farms and people in the villages would send foods stuff to their people in the cities, electricity we have always paying what we don't used. |
