I was never attracted to older ladies or anyone close to my age . I always said any lady who's age difference with mine is 5yrs and below isn't for me and that is thanks to my secondary school Agric teacher.

You see, in secondary school I was very popular and most of my friends were female. I rolled with guys but built closer bonds with the ladies, I even had a girlfriend then in school that everyone knew of including teachers and friends at home.

One day my agric teacher saw me rolling with the girls as usual and told me... "Boy these girls you think love you, they are your age mates, they are your class mate but they are not your age grade... When you will still be trying to find your way in life, these girls will be married, settled and by then time you are ready most of them must have finished giving birth"

I thought it was a joke but after secondary school, the speed at which my class girls started getting married ehhhh, even the ones that later furthered to university with us, came out and married men we call bros....

I looked at most of the guys in my class, we still looked like boys whereas our classmates in secondary looked like our aunties.

That was when what my Agric teacher said dawned on me.


I was in a relationship with someone who's age was close to mine and she ended it saying that time wasn't on her side, pressure was much. When that relationship ended , I had to settle for younger person.

I was 26yrs at the time when I met my wife who just completed 18yrs and preparing for jamb. She checked all the boxes for me and I decided to shoot my shot. It worked, she accepted and we got going. I didn't rush things


I had already crossed the stage of life she was in, so I knew I had time to build my career, work on my finances and get ready before she is set for marriage.

While she got admission to school, I stayed building myself. No pressure for marriage because we were in different phases of life. I was like two phases ahead of her

Considering her age I also didn't rush things, I stayed as a guide, supportive, patient and always a step ahead of her... 5yrs down the line she graduated, she was 23yrs now and I was 31yrs.

I got my finances and career going, while she was done with school.

By the time she was done with NYSC she was already 25yrs and me 33yrs and we did the needful.

Dating older ladies closer to your age is stress and many times builds on desperation and pressure because the ladies look at time and quickly want to marry because their biology is against them but then for the man if the man isn't settled or go pass that phase it creates pressure and may lead to bad decision making
