make a sharp turn to the left and apply handbrakes simultaneously
I was thinking about that too
But I would pump the brakes couple of times
Then swerve to the left and hit the side of the car hopefully I don’t die

Na to slam on the brakes hard oo.You go hold the steering wheel straight, come brace for impact.
At 180 km/h, you are going to hit. Physics doesn't care about your experience. The stopping distance is too long. The impact is coming.
Your only hope is to brake hard, reduce speed as much as possible in the fraction of a second you have, and hope the impact doesn't kill you.
The stopping distance is too short and up close. No amount of break will help. An experience driver in that situation will definitely hit.

All of you are not experienced drivers.

What you should do is to maintain is to press your brakes down and release and re accelerate so that the car jumps up to go through the cargo hold. Hopefully, it is computers that is inside the trailer and not caterpillar.

You don't need speed here
Re: As An Experienced Driver, What Would You Do In This Situation? by Judgesledge(m): 2:12pm On Oct 16
You can actually experience such speed of you have my kind of truck, Tesla with air trusters, just engage them and problem is solved, and more importantly the adrenaline rush at this speed is beyond words, once experienced you'll never be slow again

Deploy the airbags grin grin grin grin

On a serious note, I can't run at that speed in the night if my headlights doesn't shine as far as 500meters ahead.

As an experienced driver, I'll know this is a dream immediately and wake up. How can your rpm be at 3000 and you'll be running at 180km/hr

Impossible!!

As an experienced driver, why would you speed on till meters away from an obstacle if you are not drunk as it may be a distraction created by highway robbers ?
So answer is that "an experienced driver is not reckless".

To answer your question directly, no experience can save any driver from this collision. You can only determine side of impact by sudden application of brake to skid by turning left or right.
In Nigeria recklessness = experience!

You've said it all
Re: As An Experienced Driver, What Would You Do In This Situation? by Kobicove(m): 2:35pm On Oct 16
An experienced driver would know better than to be driving at such speed in the night when visibility is very poor undecided

4rm ChatGPT in case the careless drivers find themselves in this situation

The speedometer shows approximately 180 km/h — and there’s a truck blocking almost the entire road ahead!

Here’s what I’d do:
1. Brake firmly and progressively to reduce speed immediately, keeping the car under control.

2. Do not attempt to squeeze past the truck or swerve onto the shoulder at that speed.

3. Look for an escape route while checking mirrors and maintaining control of the steering.

4. Be prepared to stop if there isn’t enough safe space to pass.

5. Once stopped or slowed sufficiently, maintain a safe distance and assess whether the truck is moving or stationary.

The key point: Being an experienced driver means recognizing danger early, not relying on skill to escape it at the last second.

At 180 km/h, the priority is to reduce speed safely. Abrupt steering or panic braking could make the situation worse.
ChatGPT na werey na. Nothing can save experience driver at that point

Use brake and side turn to execute a side collision. But you must be a Formula One-level professional. If not, then jump out Asap.

If you are alone on the car, just swerve to the other side so the impact can be there and minimal impact on the driver.

You don't know the meaning of the word 'EXPERIENCE'
This is because no experienced driver will speed up to 180km/HR on Nigeria roads especially in the night. This is because anything can happen on any Nigeria roads at anytime.

Speed doesn't make you an experienced driver. Common sense does. Collect your L gracefully, and let your Creator decide if you die, cripple, or survive.

Na to try swerve off road, especially if it's a plain landscape - Better chances of survival than direct impact

Re: As An Experienced Driver, What Would You Do In This Situation? by Kalulu44: 3:55pm On Oct 16
First of all an experience driver will not be stewpid to drive like this.
But just in case to answer your question.
If either the left side or right is a bush then I will go either side. Apart from that, nothing else can be done, you are definitely hitting that truck with that speed.
Re: As An Experienced Driver, What Would You Do In This Situation? by Olaola26: 4:08pm On Oct 16
Has an experience driver you have only 2 sec to decide
My decision which has happened before I faces the tire 🛞 of the truck and that’s the best option so far to save life of the occupants

I had wanted to type exactly this (not same words though) until I saw your comment.

No experienced driver can ever be in this position.

Re: As An Experienced Driver, What Would You Do In This Situation? by Northsouth(m): 4:41pm On Oct 16
Firstly, it's gone

Secondly, only God can save him at this level of madness he brought upon himself

Well if he were too drunk too not know he shouldn't have drove the vehicle in the first place and finds himself in this unfortunate situation

Then if by any means of luck he gets some consciousness now, there's only one thing left to do, though it's 50-50 but it works most times

....

Turn the steering very fast completely while stepping on the break simultaneously

The outcome will be for the car to tumble with side hitting the truck at low speed

Or just make a slow and short stop drift close to the truck

Either ways, just pray
And stop playing
Re: As An Experienced Driver, What Would You Do In This Situation? by cjscon(m): 5:12pm On Oct 16
Just make use of your hand brakes
You gonna drift turn without actually breaking

Totally impossible. There is absolutely NOTHING to be done. .

NB: At 180kph he's covering 50 meters every second.

From the picture, he's probably about 6-7 metres away. But let's even stretch it to 10 metres, which means at he would cover that distance in 0.2 secs. Thus with a usual reaction time of 1 -2 secs, he would have rammed into the truck before he even knew what happened.
