Hello house, I hv read the whole thread from beginning to end, am an engineering graduate who plans to go for masters in germany in the summer semester of 2014, I hv looked up schools that I can apply to through uni-assist. I hv some questions for those in Germany. 1. How long does it take for a school to send their acceptance letter from the date of your application. 2. Will u be allowed tostay after completion of your MSc. I heard that u will hv to leave to your country and apply for another residence permit. 3.the 8k EuroS that u should send to a blocked account, will u hv to show them that same amount for a second time during your masters. 4. Does anyone know nigerians who are settled there with professional jobs after masters? Is it possible to get a good job there after MSc. 5. How does one deal with accomodation problem before u arrive. Thanks

1. schools will send u admission letter if u choose after 2 weeks or 3 weeks and same if u nt choose. they will first send u a mail and after u get a letter by post. 2.after ur msc u will be given ^ months to look for jobs or desire if u want to further ur study. and if u have a job already then u will extend ur permit. 3. if u want to extend ur study during study and u have a job that pays u over 500 euro in a month and u have a valid job contract then u dont need the 8K euro or u can show a letter of sponsorship. 4. have meet in off blacks here in the street of Berlin that have good jobs even in my school. 5. that accommodation is nt that easy to get from Nigeria if u are going to big town like Munich, hamburg, Berlin and co. but if u going to the small town u will get accommodation. was very lucky to get accommodation after 8 days i got here and i even got help from an anty here.... best of luck and Germany is a place to be...

h ehotel

yes have been sleeping in the hotel. and the 2.75 is nt that low anyway. i saw u on finland thread also have it in mind that to get admision into finland school no easy oooo guy. finland have just about 15 schools that dont charge tution fee. and u can only get good work if u get admison into..... hanken, oulu, vassa and tempare just have that in mind about finland. although u dont need a block account for finland and the visa is much easy than germany. but admision na war.
Re: German Embassy And Visa by EEngineer1(m): 9:08am On May 27, 2013
Yes oh, I was thinking of finland before but I Hv come to see that Germany is so much better. Schools in Finland only hv winter semester while Germany has summer and winter and I wld like to go next summer. I did some research online and I found out partime jobs are hard to come by in Finland even graduate jobs unless u hv a good command of a very difficult Finnish language, learning the German language wld prove to be more useful to ones life . Even the 6k euros one wld hv to present to get student visa in Finland wld have to presented twice during the masters period making it 12k, and from my research the German economy is far better they even relaxed their immigration law, I heard that masters graduate can get upto 18months resident permit now. Their minimum wage is even higher. So Bros u don see sey Germany better pass Finland by far even though both are still good but if u like me small u go dey pray make deutschland work out for me. Thanks for the prompt reply

If you are coming on student status, I'll advice you learn some programing skills, I'm very certain you get a job at the university or outsourcing job, The demand for programmers is far exceeding the supply. There is more to vocational skills in Germany, especially the language disadvantage; moreover, if you are an artist and you are good at what you do then you are good to go here. I will also advice fellow students (Tope and others) here to build up their IT skills before graduation (programming oder database), cos if you try to build a career that are people oriented rather than machine oriented you will find a lot of difficulties competing with Germans in the labour market. I say all these from my experience.

Those who are interested in the green talent competition should apply before closing date as I have pasted in previous post. Germany offers different opportunities to young scientists (They are the building block of the German economy). germany has sponsored a lot of guys from Cameroon and Asia for this program; This may be your opportunity to come to Germany.

@Jetjet, which programme precisely and do they teach in English? And which institution offers the course in germany?
Re: German Embassy And Visa by Nobody: 1:02pm On May 27, 2013
Green talent is not a degree program. Check the previous page and check the link i put there. It's designed for non german who are not currently studying in Germany.

Jejet what you are saying is what our professors have been advising us of also. I am studying Electrical Engineering and Information technology but the programing courses are just too much. C-programing, Real time programing, c++, object oriented programing,processor/chip programming, etc are to be covered before we graduate and when i asked naija guys in final yr why programing languages just full the course outline they said Germans are lacking programmers. Are you already studying in Germany? My hostel mate just graduated last 2 weeks and has gotten a job. The company asked him to tell them how much he wants to collect.

When I first came to Germany, coping with their education system was not easy at all cos it was too high for me. Engineering is 5 yrs in naija here it's 3 years so it means in 100 Level, you will be doing what 300 Level naija guys are doing. so guys pls prepare urself and brush up before coming or else u wont like the experience.

But the good news is that I am now coping and have started blending with their high system. Before when I am in class, professor go dey teach e be like say na swahili he dey speak i go dey wonder weda i go school for Nigeria before i come here abi wetin dey happen. So I picked up the challenge, went to library, borrow books and always read ahead of the professors and reduced my sleep and YouTube lecture things helped too( e dey hard to see lecturer here. almost all na prof) so right now, i dey cope well. Before you come here, do some revision if na Engineering you wan come read, try revise ur Engineering mathematics and learn some programming language cos you cant escape it here.

Germany is good and off course you know is better than Nigeria.

log on to http//www.indobase.com/study-abroad/countries/germany/masters-programs-in-germany.html there are alot of info here abt Germany.
Re: German Embassy And Visa by Nobody: 12:38am On May 28, 2013
Yes, I'm also studying in Germany. You should have known that the population is not growing in Germany for past 7 years and the ageing population is increasing, that means in few years the working population will decrease without replacement and these guys needs expertrates to replace them; that makes the education system to be output oriented.
It is a simple common sense, I will rather employ a native speaker if I want someone who will be dealing with customers or outdoor activities; and will employ the guy who understand the know-how application when I want to deal with machine applications.

My brother you are doing a good job here. Please would like to know if they teach in English or one must do a language course b4 proceeding for the main programme.
Secondly, I would also like to know how the system of admission is now in Germany and also the total cost on every thin to get the admission. Less I forget, its an undergraduate course.

But education geneally in german is diff from thing them they teach fo naija ooooooo I must confess.
