Please can anyone give me information about these country called guyana how they visa is obtain and if the flight to guyana is direct from nigeria or they is going to be transit thereby requiring a transit visa tanks.

Guyana is the only English Speaking Country in South America. Although we still have Falkland Island a country down south of that continent that is also English speaking which is under British control. For Guyana it is a member of the Commonwealth just like Nigeria. Being an English speaking country it is a popular travel destination for Nigerian students wishing to study medicine,nursing, pharmacies, dentistry and other allied courses. Guyana is bordered by Venezuela (spanish speaking) to the left and Suriname (dutch speaking) to the right. Under Guyana you have Brazil ( portuguese speaking )Up above Guyana, you have Barbados, St Lucia, Grenada. Trinidad and Tobago ( these are group of caribean countries) This neighbouring countries makes Guyana a special place to visit as you can move to these countries bordering Guyana to learn portuguese,spanish,dutch,including French language in places like French Guiana. There is no Guyanese embassy in Nigeria so one of the alternatve is to apply through a country that has their embassy such as London ( UK ) South Africa, Brazil etc A second alternative is to travel to Guyana and be issued with a Visa at the airport the Guyanese immigration allows this so long as there are no Guyanese embassy in your country of origin but you must prove that you have sufficient fund for your stay in Guyana and also you have a return ticket to your home country or other country that you are allowed to exit. You will also show your accommodation or hotel details as per where you will be staying. There is no direct flight from Nigeria. You have to go through (transit) Europe ( UK, Germany, Holland, France ) or through North America ( Canada,USA, ) and Brazil. But I would advise Nigerian to take the Brazil transit route as you do not need a transit visa to fly through Brazil so long as you do not leave the Airport area ( transit zone ) but you must leave their airport and catch a flight from Sau Paulo within 8 hours or get deported. There can be ugly cases in which due to cancellation of flight you can not get your connecting flight and you are faced with the risk of a deportation from Brazil.There have been reported cases of Nigerian who have been deported by Brazilian immigration authority. But some Nigerians transiting through Brazilian airport who was so unlucky to catch a connecting flight through Brazil ' s Sau Paulo airport have claimed that their immigration officer can be bribed to keep a traveller beyond the 8 hours transit stay or time. I would rather suggest you get a Brazilian visa from Nigeria, tourist or transit visa before leaving Nigeria, travel to Brazil and then continue from there to Guyana.

Decide which route you are going to take. Go online and find out the requirements for transiting passengers in whatever country you have to get off the plane. Those details I don't know.

Something does not add up here. You have never left Nigeria in your life so how did you meet your Guyanese fiancee? Why can't your Guyanese fiancee give you all this information? I personally think that you are trying to go to Guyana to hustle. If that is the case, you better be careful. Guyana is a small country and not a big country like Nigeria. If you don't have proper residence permit to live and work there, you will only be shooting yourself in the foot because if you start engaging in illegal activities, Guyanese officials will not hesitate to throw you in jail and after serving your sentence deport you back to Nigeria. You better be wise because I am personally tired of Nigerians going to foreign countries illegally to go and hustle and then later engaging in drug trafficking and other illegal crap thereby tarnishing the Nigerian image further. You better rethink what it is you are about to do. You cannot deceive any of us here on Nairaland especially those of us who were born and have lived abroad for an extended period of time and know what's up.

Guy....TAU is no different from the local private money making universities here in Nigeria. Getting a part time job is no different than here in Nigeria. As a nurse...if you are lucky lucky lucky to get a job.... and it wouldn't be with your TAU degree or whatever they print on that end of training paper.....you would be making less in Guyana. Nurses in Guyana migrate to the Caribbean/USA/UK for greener pastures...but not with TAU as resume. "I met someone in Abuja"....press for details ....e.g...how big is the campus or how many students are enrolled in the "university"...and see what happens.

Depends....US have off shore universities in different islands....as well as UWI (University of the West Indies). For UWI the country depends on what you want to pursue...eg...Medical I kmow of Jamaica and Barbados....Law...Trinidad. UWI entry standards are very high and their certificates/degrees carry weight. Cuba is also a good place to do medicine but not if you want to practice in the US. Where am I now?...hmmm...let me check the stamp in my passport!!..today I'm in Lagos!

@ originasly guyana does nt have an embassy in nigeria , they issue a cable visa , it just d wway dubai visa is nothing more , it when u go for the transit visa u need to visa the embassy in which u want to transit through
