Contrary to what you think, i don't subscribe to the "big bang theory"

You mean it is better we think ourselves products of accident?

Or you have another explanation to our origin?

I am a product of an interc.ourse that happened some years back between my mum and my dad, gerrit?

See another dumb analysis to defend God. Are you telling me that the actor never prayed before leaving home? How are we sure every other misfortunes u wrote up there didn't happen after everyone prayed and had their daily devotion before leaving home? When did death become a yardstick for measuring God's love? No one will live forever so if u escape all those accidents you can't escape old age and death. Something must kill a man. God is too busy to hear us or he just doesn't give a fvck

@Ymodulus

I know I probably cannot change your viewpoint. But sometimes it's good to have another perspective of a picture, so we have a balanced view. I noticed that in your post you made a lot of reference to the book of Lamentations as evidence of God's wickedness. But you only state one side of the story. Here's the other side:

The book of Lamentations was written by the prophet Jeremiah. It was a song of mourning over the destruction of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon. How did this come about?

The Israelites were God's chosen people. They agreed to be his ambassadors on earth and serve as his representatives. But for most of their existence as a nation, they kept going astray, forsaking him and worshipping other gods, and committing depravities practiced by other nations. God kept calling them and warning them:

Isaiah 1:10-19
Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!
“The multitude of your sacrifices— what are they to me?” says the Lord. “I have more than enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats. When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of my courts? Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and vocations—
I cannot bear your worthless assemblies. Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals I hate with all my being. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood!

Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.

Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool"

This is God pleading with the Israelites through the prophet Isaiah. This was written 125 years before the events of Lamentations.

Micah 3:9-12

But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, to Israel his sin. Hear this, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel, who despise justice and distort all that is right; who build Zion with bloodshed, and Jerusalem with wickedness. Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they look for the Lord’s support and say, “Is not the Lord among us? No disaster will come upon us.” Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.

This was written 110 years before God finally brought judgement upon the Jerusalem.

Nahum, Habakuk, Joel, Zephaniah. These were all prophets God kept sending to the Jews in Jerusalem to warn them about their bad ways and get them to stop misbehaving. They paid no heed. Finally, after hundreds of years of such warnings with no response from his people, God let them suffer punishment by being carried off into exile in Babylon. The King of Babylon burnt the city of Jerusalem to the ground and carried off all its inhabitants as exiles. That is what the book of Lamentations is about.

I don't know how you will understand this, but to me it sounds more like an example of an extremely patient and long suffering God - rather than a genocidal one.

Another incident often pointed at as evidence of God's ''wickedness'' is his extermination of the Canaanites. Again we only have one side of the story. Here's the other.

In the days of Abraham, God told him he was going to give him the land of Canaan. But not just yet, because 'the error of the inhabitants of the land had not yet reached its full measure." Genesis 15:13-16

Would you like to know the kind of error we are talking about? Immorality, idol worship and child sacrifice were widespread in Canaan. Bible Historian Henry H. Haley notes that archaeologists excavating the area found great numbers of jars containing the remains of children who had been sacrificed to Baal. Baal was a prominent god of the canaanites. He says:

' The whole area proved to be a cemetery for new born babies. Canaanites worshipped, by immoral indulgence, as a religious rite, in the presence of their gods; and then, by murdering their children, as a sacrifice to these same gods. .....Archaeologists who dig in the ruins of Canaanite cities wonder that God did not destroy them sooner than he did.

Do you know how long God waited while the Canaanites committed these atrocities before finally removing them from his face? 400 years.
So once again, what is termed a genocide is actually a well deserved judgement after an extremely long patience.

Madam its Genocide. This is not the only case we have other cases too of God unmercifulness.
Re: I Have Cursed God by Ymodulus: 7:51am On Oct 17, 2014
@HoneyChild

Please note that these curses are not a walk in the park. Here’s a sample from Leviticus 26:

God will bring upon you sudden terror
God will bring upon you wasting diseases and fever
The diseases and fever will destroy your sight and drain away your life
Your enemies to eat your crop
God will set his face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies
Those who hate you to rule over you
You will flee even when no one is pursuing you
Your soil will not yield its crop nor your trees yield its fruits
God will multiply affliction seven times over
God will send wild animals to kill your children, cattle, and to make you few in number
God himself will be hostile towards you and afflict you
God will bring the sword against you
God will send a plague against you
God will give you into your enemies hand
God will cut off your supply of bread
You will eat and not be satisfied.
You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters.
God will destroy your high places
God will cut down your incense altars
God will pile your dead bodies on the lifeless forms of your idols
God will abhor you.
God will turn your cities into ruins and lay waste your sanctuaries
God will take no delight in the pleasing aroma of your offerings
God will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who live there will be appalled.
God will scatter you among the nations and will draw out my sword and pursue you.
Your land will be laid waste, and your cities will lie in ruins.
God will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight.
They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them.
They will stumble over one another as though fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. So you will not be able to stand before your enemies.
You will perish among the nations
The land of your enemies will devour you.
Those of you who are left will waste away in the lands of their enemies because of their sins; also because of their fathers’ sins they will waste away
.
Hell Wow. This is all from one chapter. These curses began with the curse placed on women because of Eve (painful childbirth and subjection to men) and continue to eternal torment in the fires of hell.

A man was stoned for gathering wood on the Sabbath. Another and his family were stoned and burned because he took loot from a conquest for himself. Thousands were killed for complaining. A couple was killed for lying about how much money they made on a property. We are to stone to death our rebellious teenagers, or those who engage in pre-marital sex, or even those who work on the Sabbath. The judgment of God of the Bible is clear.

I could list these judgments all day long. Where is the mercy here? If one is rewarded for obedience and cursed for disobedience, isn’t that simply getting what one deserves? Mercy would be there if there were no curses, stonings, killings, and eternal punishment in hell.
[size=18pt]
My recommendation to you is this: Please, do not be merciful as God is merciful. Please really be merciful.

Keep shaking your head...
I pray it doesn't fall off your neck.

I'm not here to raise a debate with anyone, heck I even stopped posting on Religion section, I was only moved by what the OP said and wanted to sympathise, lol but now I know better, his attitude to answering questions goes a long way to explain his problems in life.

Back to Op.
Praying to God will never make your trouble or problems disappear to thin air, or typing ish on NL will not make it go away either...

When you have a problem and you pray to God, do you know what he does? He sends help, wisdom and Faith your way (don't expect a bag of money or a jeep to stop by the road side and give you money, God is not a magician, he has principles, read your bible)

Faith helps you go through the problems, faith builds up hope in your for tomorrow, do you think Jesus never got tired at some point, he even asked God that if it were his own wish, he would want the cup to pass over him (he didn't want to suffer and die) but nevertheless let God's will be done, that's what faith does, it shows you a bright future, it shows you a lighted path even when no one sees it, that's how answers to prayers work.

Wisdom helps you go through the problems, it makes you profer solution to your situation and wisdom moves you in direction to your help and there problems solved.
One thing all atheist don't know is that serving God does not make me bullet proof to problems, it doesn't make me immued to falling or sickness or hunger or pain or wants...
No serving God makes me different, for when all these trails come, I get the strength, faith, wisdom to go through them faster and better, the higher you go in life, the more problems you will face and only the low in spirit, the weak at heart will start calling God names.
Be strong, the race is almost over.

Let's leave the argument and reason, don't reason on path of an atheist, your not one (they are wonderful people that just think from another point) reason like a God believing person that you are.

JOseph
The life of Joseph teaches us alot, he had a dream that he brothers bowed down to him, he knew he was gonna be great but he didn't know how, then one day his brothers threw him in a pit
Joseph prayed and asked God to save him, as humans we will expect God to send angels to carry him out of the hole and to his father, No God made his brothers not to kill him but to sell him, to Joseph, God wasn't answering and im certain if he had a phone and NL was back then, he would still open his own thread of lamentation

When he was sold to Egypt, he became a slave servant to portipah, as though that was not enough problems, his Masters wife came again and tried to make him sleep with her, he refused and what happened...
I'm sure he still prayed, asking God, but Father I didn't sleep with her, isn't this any form of consolation, come and help me please, sure enough God answered but not like humans would expect, instead him been killed or sold off again, no, he was sent to jail... oh where was NL then, Joseph really needed to curse God

At the prison, he became a light and source of hope for his inmates, instead killing and cursing why God didn't show his innocence and save him, no he never let go of his trust on God, he even cheered up the inmates and then from prison, he became a prime minister
my point in essence, what you call problem is not problem for God, do you know that Joseph passing through all this trails, God was merely positioning him for his victory, when I read my bible and see stories like this, I bow and praise God, He knows way too much for me to understand.

Your been scammed of that money, might be the point where you will be connected to a better job, a better life, a better money, maybe this is just an eye openner for you to be careful, so that eventually when that billions will come your way, you will be very prepared to avoid any scamming tactics they will come with.
Cheer up bro, see the brighter future, embrace God, one thing I have observed in life is that great men have the worst of stories to tell (been rich is not been great), you don't walk to greatness, you fight through thick and thin to get there.............Better days are yet ahead.

Just be like shedrach, mishak and abednego, who said... Even if God didn't save us from this burning fire, then we know he has a reason for not doing so, that is complete trust, to follow God, you have to shut your senses, your eyes, your instinct, your everything, just follow him like a sheep foolishly( figure of speech) and you will see him turn things around for you.

It's never gonna be easy, it has worked and is working for my day, my brother, my Mum and even myself, when you hear my story you will laugh and cry and then believe that GOD NEVER FAILS, atimes it might be late to you but WHEN GOD COMES LATE, HE COMES BIGGER!
