Go back and read up the conversation that led up to that post. The grouse with the op is basically her manner of criticism. The fact vs opinion part was for the person I addressed the post to, inspired by his 'call a spade a spade' rant.

Truth be told, most of them won't even get to the first stage of any beauty contest. They are not beautiful. This was somewhat of a popularity contest.

'How then do you think to separate the op from her criticism?' is in reponse to a claim that she doesn't have to look good to go as condescending as she did on the contestants. That expression is a follow up of the part where I said people criticise because they feel they have something better. In a nutshell, her criticism stems from a feeling of superiority and thus demands superior looks to show for it.

The part about fact vs opinion came last, after agreeing with the dude that popularity influenced the contest, and questioning the soundness of his view that there's a universal standard of beauty which the contestants fall short of.

Yeah, you might not be a kid, but you aren't very bright either. You initially sounded like you really understood what you were challenging. It's disappointing, really.

FYI, not all people criticize because they feel they have something better. There are factors such as philosophical views that come to bear.

In the case of beauty, there is a philosophical view known as aesthetic relativism and there is also the belief that beauty is absolute.

The OP does not necessarily feel she is better or more beautiful. It all boils down to what she feels or sees beauty to mean. It is her opinion and it supports the view that beauty is relative.
