yes your friend is right. .you will be stamped and permitted to stay for 30days
makanakie:
I pray that this post of mine attracts urgent replies. I got a 3 months multiple entry visiting visa to SA on the 16th of sept and it will expires on the 15th of Dec. This moth. But I am looking at the possibilities of making the trip. I have 8 more days on the visa by today and I am hoping to buy my ticket tomao and take off like on Tuesday. But I really want to be cleared on the fact that will these immigration people at Tanbo not gonna send me back as my visa just have days left?

And a friend told me that I should not be worried that at the point of entry in SA that I will be granted an added 30days period of stay. I don't know if this is also true. Meanwhile my greatest plight why I wanna go is that my passport expired May15 next year. So I actually wanna go there and stay till sometimes next year when my passport will be expired so that I can get a passport renewal at nija home office over there cuz I believe a nija passport issued in joburg will attracts more Favour from any embassy while I am back home incase of further application to get a better country visa. This I want to be cleared on. Come to my Aids
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by makanakie: 1:13pm On Dec 07, 2014
Meanwhile as it always stated that every passport must be 6nonths valid at the point of applying for any country visa. If I did not make this trip to SA . I will not be able to use my passport to apply for any other visa until sometimes May next year she it will be finally expired but that will be suicidal to me to still have myself here in this country till that period. Trust Good live has been missing and am going over to tap that. I just don't think I still have energy left to wait that longer in this hit and heat of this country.
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by makanakie: 1:20pm On Dec 07, 2014
@opsy4real1 I will have to Say thank you and God bless so I should just go ahead and buy my ticket tomorrow and fear no evil at Tambo Airport on my arrival?

compliments of the season forumites, great tidings shall it bring our ways. Am here again on behalf of another close brother. He got a job offer at Gert Sibande College and about to turn in his application for work visa but i asked him to let me confirm if the letter issued frm d college is recognized at the embasy for visa purpose. Please advice. Also he does nt belong to any profesional body as member yet so he wudnt support his application wit any proof of body membership. I hope d employment letter alone and other supporting documents is ok. Thanks

Oga Opsy4real1,

Congratulations on the new job offer!

If the new job at Gert Sibande College entails any form of teaching, then your friend needs to be registered with SACE (South African Council of Educators) which will accord him the status of “Educator”. Please visit www.sace.org.za for more details on how he can register and he might land another job there as they regularly advertise teaching positions there.

That being said work visa no easy, but its definitely obtainable if he submits the authentic documents devoid of fake supporting documents etc.

The requirements for general work visa applications are as such:
1. A duly completed application form at VFS within any province in SA

2. SAQA Application - The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). This is one of the requirements for a general work visa whereby SAQA evaluates all foreign qualifications and converts them to a South African education equivalent. Please visit www.saqa.org.za for more information on how to evaluate your docs.

3. Police Clearance Certificates (for all applicants older than 18 years of age) which he can obtain my walking into a Police station and having his biometrics taken and forwarded to head office of records in Pretoria. It usually takes 6 weeks, so the quicker he applies, the better for him.

4. Proof of Advertisement. This is very important in order to show proof that a local candidate (South African Citizen or permanent resident) has tried to be recruited to the role. These requirements for a general work visa needs to meet specific requirements in terms of where placed, size of advert etc.

5. Employer documentation that includes your contract of employment Medical well being – part of the requirements for a general work visa application include proof that the applicant is in good health. Applicants will also have to submit a radiological report.

6. Personal information – this includes such items as your CV, proof or birth, marriage, divorce and passport.

So please tell him having a letter of employment is not just enough, it needs to meet what SA immigration officials call “Benchmarking” standards which basically you can obtain from any office of The South African Department of Labour or extract from the database of a benchmarking organisation stipulating the salary earned by employees occupying similar positions in the RSA.
(Take note : This certificate/letter is very very very important for Work Visas ).

Just take your time to properly organize your application. You will get the work visa.

You see one thing you need to know is that the DHA receives lots and lots of fraudulent applications, especially for work visas from many foreign nationals(Nigerians inclusive) such that it becomes a breath of fresh air to receive one that is genuinely submitted.

Make your friend no forget me when he starts receiving the big bucks oooooo..

Goodluck bro!

Oga Makanakie,

You have been advised rightly by Opsy4real1. You can DEFINITELY travel to RSA . They will issue a 30-day Visit Visa upon arrival for you.

They might ask you why you only travelling now, just tell them it was most convenient time for you to come and of course.. fluctuating ticket prices was a big decider. wink

All the best bro..

I intend hiding in SA and not get caught by the immigration till may next yr then I can renew my passport and return back to nija to apply for a better country visa. I just want a nija passport issued in SA. I believe that will add more value to my status with any embassy I am going to visit in the future. Pls point me clear

Yes, you can definitely renew your Nigerian passport at the Nigerian Consulate in Jhb without hassle. It's your civic right and nobody can deny you that right. My advise is for you to apply for online when you get to RSA so you can obtain appointment date in time.

so, relax bro.

Note that if u are leaving JHB back to Nigeria with a new passport but an expired visa, your new passport will be stamped that you overstayed your visa and you will be barred from entering SA for a period of 1 to 10 years, is this not a stain on ur new passport?
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by makanakie: 7:07pm On Dec 07, 2014
Yeee are you saying that the info I initially got on here were not true about getting an added 30days of stay while arriving at SA?

And I am aware about the stamp that will be on my new passport for over stayed in SA but I will be less bothered by that as my next destination may not be SA for another 10 yrs.

Yes it will be stamped for till 15th believe me I have seen a lot like that, then if you have a stamp saying you are barred on your passport don't you feel it will attract questions at other embassies and immigration posts?

The easiest and best way to settle down in the countries listed above is via study, mind you it aint easy anywhere, people make it in Nigeria, you could make it too.

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by makanakie: 8:30am On Dec 08, 2014
Yes it may not be easy anywhere but not as difficult as it is down here. Nothing seems working And you need to know how many time I have tried getting a study visa just to no avail. And I don't write off the fact that one can make it in this country but some destinies may function well outside your him land. Take for example what God told the father of Isaac in the scripture.

My Brother, my advice for you is to come before 15th Dec.. You may be lucky and you will be given 30 days at point of entery here in SA and you may also be unlucky to be given till 15th Dec... Those are the 2 possibilities.
Well The place where your passport is issued has nothing to do with the success of your future application in any other embassy. Infact in your own case it MAY work against you(Am sorry but that is the bitter truth you may not want to hear now) because , your future embassy will see that you are not a resident of SA and you overstayed in SA according to the following reason..
1...you got your passport after 30 days in SA(if you are even lucky to be given 30 days at point of entry)
2...The SA embassy will stamp your NEW passport as Overstayed in SA when you are eventually going back home
3.. it will be written on your NEW passport that you have been banned

My advice for you is, come to SA and spend the time you are given at point of entry and leave SA immediately... I am sure Canada, USA or Australia will never give someone who has over-stayed in ORDINARY SA( as you called it earlier in your post) their Precious visa.

dont be deceived by anyone that , the place where your passport is issued affects outcome of your future visa application.Hence it may only affect you negatively in your own case.
Conclusively, Never say you will never be in SA for the next 10 years my brother because you dont know what the future holds for you.For instance, if you get a good job in Nigeria and the company/organisation want to send you to SA for a training or conference but you have been banned by SA in 2014.. what will you tell your company?
I read a story on here last year of a man who works with SHELL INTERNATIONAL(yes shell oil company) now and they wanted to send him to UK For training meanwhile he has been banned by UK Several years back for using different names on his passport while he was still hustling.what will he Tell the company my brother?do you think any Reputable company will wanna employ someone who has questionable character at embassies when millions are out there waiting?
CONSIDER YOUR FUTURE NOT YOUR PRESENT CONDITION MY BROTHER(am sorry admin for using capital letters)

I wish you all the best my brother

@waleabimbola thanks for the full details. GOD BLESS.

But for the Judge who says someone goes around spoiling the name of the country out there. It's a pity that everyone on here are anonymous even without data and details if not I will have to evaluate your age with your level of maturity if they will ever balance. And who says I am a first time traveller? 2011 I flew to Malaysia after purchasing my ticket at the cost of 350k. The same amount a freckle face like you will have as 7months take home if you ever worked. Here or in SA. And guess what? I spent just 7 days and returned to nija.I was only posting my initial posts base on my present situation and condition of my int.passport... Sometimes you correct with common sense and love if you must correct anyone. But if you actually wanna change the world or the mindset of Nigerian I will advise you to get on a national TVs and start abusing the so called leaders that has looted our money, cuz whatever crime anyone is committing base on finding a greener pasture its as a result of the pain that these people that suppose to be serving us has inflicted on us. and when you do make sure you leave your personal contact and address.
