Thanks.

Letter of consent from hubby, affidavit of change of name, newspaper publication of name change , marriage certificate, copy of hubby's biodata page and your passport. Sorry don't know about Atlanta. Will ask my friend if it's okay to share the contact she gave me. Cheers![/quote]

Babatwi:

Hi, immediatly your friends visa expired,i dont think she had any legal right to still be in the us,she was ill adviced, what she should have done was renew her visa b4 travelling. As it is now,it will be almost imposible for her to be able to get any further us visa. Something similar happened to a friend that travelled to the uk and took ill while she was there and was hospitalised and during all this wahala her visa expired, after returning to nigeria it was impossible for her to re-enter the uk agan, all her visa applications were rejected, this went on for about 7yrs and not untill she got a lawyer in the uk that took up her case b4 they eventualy gave her a visa, all these was after 7yrs and plenty money spent.
As for her baby,i dont think she would have any problem getting his american passport. The issue is her being able to re-visit the us

All wrong!
As long as she doesn't exceed d date stamped in her passport, she is good to go, usually it is 6mths after the date of entry into the US, so even if visa expires 2 days before u enter US u can stay till the date stamped in ur passport by POE officer

Hi Everyone. I have been following this thread for a while now without commenting. I got my visa this morning in Lagos thanks to all the valuable information i got from this forum. I want to say a big thank you to everyone that has selflessly contributed to this forum.

My interview went as follows;
VO: are you here alone? shouldn't there be others?
Me: No, I am here with my husband, baby and mum (My husband was trying to carry my son who was sleeping on my mum,s lap. They wasted a little bit of time so I got to the interview window before them)
After they arrived, we continued.
VO: So whats the relationship between every body as i see different surnames?
Me: (started pointing to every one) This is my Husband, that's our baby, and then My Mum. The surname on my passport is my maiden name as I was not married when i got the passport.
VO: so is everyone traveling to the US?
Me: Yes. I am going to have my baby. I will be going with my baby and my Mum in march, My mum is to assist me while i am there. my husband will join us when the baby arrives.
VO: OK. so have you contacted any hospital
Me: yes Oakbend Medical clinic in Houston Texas.
VO: what made you settle for this hospital?
Me: I did an online research and chose this one based on positive reviews i read about them
VO: where do you work and as what??
Me: i work at ******* and as a ******
VO: where did you school?
Me: I did my first degree at ***** and my second degree at *****
VO: to my Husband- whats your profession and where do you work?
DH: I am **** and I work with ****
VO to DH : what exactly does your company do
DH: we are a conglomerate into *******
VO: asks DH to scan his fingers
VO to me : you have been to the US before right?
Me: yes, in 2010 ( I had misplaced the passport in which the visa was stamped)
You went for a conference right?
Me: Yes
VO: how long did you stay?
Me: two weeks.
VO: do you have a cost estimate for this trip
Me: Yes. (handed him the budget sheet i prepared with tips gotten from this forum)
VO. (scans through) then said, you qualify for this visa but you have to know that this cost estimates is very small. you may end up paying more than five times this amount. so get yourself prepared for it.
Me: Ok. will do.
VO: types something in the PC. and then asks me and my mum to scan our fingers. he then handed me the passport collection letter and asks me to collect our passport on Tuesday.

That was it folks! It didn't last more than five minutes. he didn't even ask if i have booked appointment with any doctor or look at our bank statements.

Thanks again to every one.
Meanwhile I am heading to Houston early March (i am due early April). Will most likely use Oakbend hospital. anyone with shared accommodation should pls contact me. I will be going with my mum and baby.

Thanks in advance.

I think the male VOs in Lagos are better than the female VOs especially the black oversabi woman

@Lalavita and Gurus in the house,

please I am filling DS-160 form for B2, I previously has B1/B2 visa. there is a question- are you applying for the same type of visa? B1/B2, B1 and B2 have been used interchangeably and I don't seem to understand. please is my answer Yes or No.

thanks

lalavita:

I noticed noone has responded yet..let me give it a go.

1. Changing your name after marriage is no big deal. Just attach the new passport and the old one when submitting via DropBox
2. It is up to you how you want to do this. You have 2 choices
- Just complete for a regular renewal of the type of visa you had previously B1/B2.
- (For this one, you definitely need the details of your intended medical treatment), as Medical is the primary purpose of your trip. Provide the doctor's/hospital info where necessary on the form. In this case, you are likely to be called for an interview. There is nothing to fear with an interview as long as you can afford to give birth in the USA and also you have made arrangements. You can browse through this thread for extensive details on this. Good luck!

Go ahead and renew the exact category u had. The POE officers will stamp B1 or B2 for u when u land. So yes, apply for the same type of visa u previously had.

Hi, I stand to be corrected but if you are doing change of name at Lagos or any location outside Abuja, the person is just assisting illegally and there wont be any new signature and photo capture. the previous image and signature will still be there, I just called an officer at Abuja and that was what he said.
that I don't know about, but I went for the name change issue to get someone in abuja because i've done lost passport in abuja before(2years ago) and I wanted the same guy to help me before the person I know there told me this and wheni still got intouch with the abuja person he told me same thing that I can do it in lagos insted of wasting money for flight to come over

@ sayoberry,
There's nothing to worry about. Just pray that they do their processing on time. My wife was given same paper on a Friday, i called them the following Friday and they forgot they hadn't called her to come submit her passport. Just call the embassy after few days, make sure you have all your information ready and they will tel you the situation of things.
I wish you the very best.

Fill your ds-160 form and then complete your application. This would lead you to the dropbox option ( the system would automatically take you towards dropbox if you qualify, but you can choose to opt out. )
Now you need to take just 5 and only 5 things to dhl to submit.
1. Your application confirmation page.
2. Drop box letter ( you would get it at the end after you opt for dropbox,)
3. passport booklet
4. Passport photograph.
5. Gtb payment reference.

lemme know if you have anymore questions, gl...

Please any pregger mum travelled with an infant(below 2 years)? When you paid as lap child did you have to carry her on lap the whole journey? Or if you pay for her own seat do you have to carry a car seat to strap her in it?

Your son doesn't av a seat of his own, but if the plane isnt full, you could get a seat for him

If not, you'll av to ask d crew for a bassinette, hoping your seat is directly facing the area where you can have access to it

Lol, i didnt notice the Twins Part. I just noticed the poster sounded like Nightnigeria that was busted some months back. Notice the way this marketer says if i am "Approved" like the other one. The poster mentions doctoreszzzz.com at every given opportunity, that's where i smelled a rat. These marketers are acting a pre-written script. Its a Shame that the marketers now disguise like regular travellers just to get their point across. So who do readers believe?

And that was how Phema became a mum of a BBB on the 5th of Dec, 2014! My boy came at exactly 36weeks+5days!

This tori long no be small. Make I sha start from somewhere.

Got into Phoenix on the 25th of Nov and went for my financial appointment the next day. Afterwards, I went to book for Dr's appointment, but the lady in charge had closed for the day. They worked half day that day cos the next day was Thanksgiving. So, I was told to call after the Holidays to book for Dr's appointment.

I called and was given 11th of Dec to see the Dr. I tried explaining to the lady that I was far gone and would be 37weeks plus at the time and that I really needed to see the Dr ASAP. But she insisted that was the earliest I could get. That they were fully booked. I asked what to do if I fell into labour before the said date, and she said I should go straight to the Labour and Delivery department.

Some days after, I started having some labour-like symptoms. I just ignored them cos I felt baby could not come that early as all the scans I did back in Naija never gave an inkling of baby coming that early. Well, I was wrong, cos the contractions became stronger the next day. Called MIHS labour and delivery unit to ask what to do. Was transfered to a Nurse who advised to watch and time the contractions. And to come in when they become stronger and close together.

I still couldn't believe it was labour though. I just sat at home and kept watching and timing till it became almost unbearable. I went in and found I was already 4cm dilated. For my mind, I say huh! Just like that? So, na person mama I wan be today today so. It was both scary and exciting. They checked and said my fluid was low and baby was quite small. Asked for my medical records and I told them I had not even seen a Dr here. They asked if I had any scan from Naija. Fortunately, I had one which showed I was 36weeks plus 3days gone. The lady ran a quick scan and said she was getting about 34weeks. I insisted I was 36weeks plus.

That was the moment they started running all the tests that could have been run on my first appointment. Took me to the labour room and called the NICU people to be on stand by as they were expecting a "Premie".

I requested for epidural. Was given and it felt heavenly! At some point, the baby's heart beat dropped and I saw the highest number of Drs in my whole life in just a second. One was giving me oxygen, the other was breaking my water (my water had not broken at that time). Others were sha operating plenty equipments. I was so so scared and pratically shivering all through. They managed the situation and told me not to worry. That my baby was doing great.

Then I became 10cm dilated and the pushing began. Hehehehehehehe. No be small something. Couldn't push well cos I wasn't feeling my contractions cos of the epidural. I was merely wasting my energy, thinking baby will soon pop out. After awhile of wasted effort, the Nurse advised that the epidural be put off so I could feel my contractions and know when to push. That was done and it took effect after about an hour 30mins.

I will jump and pass the pushing part. The pain! Oh the pain! I cringe anytime I remember. Was wondering how God will let anyone go through such pains. Chei! I said and did things I can't even remember. The Drs and Nurses were so so nice and patient. And kept urging me on. Hmmn. . . The pain. . . lipsrsealed

Fastforward. . . Baby eventually came and the NICU people were already on ground to evaluate him. They did, said he was doing ok but since he is preterm, they will need to do extensive evaluation. At that point, I called their Chief and told her that I didn't want my child put in NICU if there wasn't any serious issues. She assured me that the child will be brought back to me in about an hour if he passed all his tests. As God would have it, he did pass them. And he was brought back. I was so happy.

Everything went well from then onwards. Truth is, I never expected the kind of services I got. It was awesome!! Everyone seemed way too nice and professional! They kept coming every 30mins to check up on me and baby. Kept asking if I needed anything and all that. I didn't use anything I went to the Hospital with as they provided everything needed by mum and child. I was just too impressed abeg. I couldn't believe I got all that for just $2888.

Na so Phema waka become Mama born-boy! I'm just really grateful to God for everything. It could have only been Him. Baby is doing so great. Mum is still sore here and there, but she's getting better. However, nothing prepared me for these sleepless nights mehn. I dey on duty all the time. Hope it gets better with time.

And that was my experience. Got the baby's BC and already applied for his US passport at the Post Office. Once I'm done with the documentation, I'm sure rescheduling my flight and going home much earlier.
