Now, by calling me "antagonist", you're assuming the position of the protagonist, right?

Did it occur to you that word is considered offensive by its subject? You may not know it but calling someone an antagonist suggests the person is hostil to or against a positive view/person/development etc.. So what actually made me the antagonist here, my different opinion? In what way exactly has my own advice, opinion or suggestion tantamounted to antagonism? Or you knew me before? Do you not realise that, if we are actually at the opposite ends of the divide, I might as well consider you to be the antagonist?

I have not gone out of my way to antagonise you or anyone here but even if you consider me to be an antagonist, you must not call me that to my face just for the sake of some healthy or diplomatic exchange of views cause it's offensive, really.

No offence taken though.

Chill dude!

I simply meant people holding different views from mine, and yes I may be an antagonist to you.

I don't think it's inherently a bad thing.

maybe the question is: [s]do people actually succeed in controlling sexual urges by exercising self discipline. If yes, then wouldn't it be easier to discipline yourself and tame your urges than self-service,[/s] whether responsibly or irresponsibly, with all the psychological and health drawbacks of wanking.

@slashed Your contradictions are obvious.

Furthermore, I never said wanking was the ONLY way to control sex urge. There are different strokes for different folks. Nonetheless, you cannot "tame" "suppress" or "vaquish" nature; you don't work with nature by fighting against it. In fact, if God(s) truly existed, trying to suppress the order of nature would be sin to him/her/it or them, not the other way round. And to claim, as stated @bolded that Wanking poses a health risk (physical or mental) to your health is a blatant lie; the same falsehood some clergymen ignorant of medicine trumpeted to engrave deeper the indoctrination.

Wanking poses NO HEALTH RISK: http://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1684.aspx?CategoryID=118

IN FACT, as stated here: http://asktheexperts.plannedparenthood.org/?p=283 it has some Health benefits to a man's well being.

Wanking poses no more drawback to man's health than Eating.

Wanking is to heart attack what Eating is to obesity; ONE word: Mis-use or Over-do!

Its laughable that sexual sin is seen as "the big one" yet I see many faithfuls commit lots of little sins
with much ease, more regularity and with no guilt.Lets be real,a sin is a sin-no proportionality at all.

Intelligible. But my dear your view is one-side oriented. you should read wider on a man's sexual life. it's very different from a woman's own. right?

Scientifically, it is a way the body get rids of excess sperm from the body. I don't believe those trash of spiritual wife. How could a living human be married to a spiritual wife? Spirit can only possess the body but marrying the body. Wet dreams happen to people of sexual maturity who do not have sex. Thanks

If that is what you call anyone whose opinion disagrees with yours, then I suggest you re-visit your semantics cause the word connotates some sort of enmity(a state or feeling of active opposition or hostility). That we do not have the same opinion does not necessarily make me your antagonist, dude. Not until I try to force mine down your throat.

Agreed that discipline is important in every aspect of human life. But the two scenerios are incomparable. Just like it takes discipline for you not to eat food every hour of the day, so does it take discipline for me to have protected sex only twice or three times a week and not every hour of the day.
Aren't we both disciplined?

Bros u talk as if you are from mars. Which girl in Nigeria will agree to marry a broke guy? talk about fling, maybe, but marriage, u are OYO.
So guys gotta struggle to make money and in the process, konji has gotta be treated.

If you have goals, I believe you can achieve them a lot faster without sex being a distraction. You might be termed a geek though, but you could just bury your head in the sand and work, though I'm not a big advocate of all work and no play, but it could be more work and less play for a while.

I am not here to argue about the sexual struggle, everyone knows it's real, but the question still remains, can it be achieved or not?

The answer is yes, it can be done, so why should we discourage the OP if that is what he wants?

I grew up in a strong Christian family were I was indoctrinated to believe that fornication and masturbation is a sin. Now i'm in my early 20s and the urge to fornicate grows stronger and the only solution is masturbation which is also a "sin". So how do I relieve my self of the urge without comitting any sin?
truth b told... There's no other option apart from fornication masturbation dat can ease sexual urge. It's difficult to abstain bt it's possible

ITS NATURAL,U CAN'T HELP IT. WHAT I ADVICE IS STAY FOCUSED ON JESUS FERVENTLY THRU HIS WORD AND BECOME A PREACHER BUT DAT DOESN'T KILL D URGE PERMANENTLY BUT IT WILL SUPPRESS IT TO A LARGE EXTENT. ALSO ONCE IN A VERY LONG WHILE U CAN SELF SERVICE(ASK FOR GOD'S FORGIVENESS) IF NOT U WILL HAVE WET DREAMS DAT WILL MESS U UP because UR FILLED SCROTOM MUST BE EMPTIED.
my 2 cents

Hmmm... One of the synonyms for the word is "Rival" another is "Competitor".

If this was a movie, with the OP being the protagonists, you'd be playing the antagonists for your contrary view.

I just don't get how that is offensive, but I do apologize if it came off bad.
Re: How Can A Christian Handle Sexual Urge? by Aroniyo200(m): 5:09pm On Jan 11, 2015
Self-service will ruin you. Fornication is as deadly. The solution is to determine never to touch your private part except when urinating and bathing coulpled with serious prayer for grace to resist the urge and to avoid doing anything that brings the urge or the temptation.

why is money there when it will lead people to sin? why is sex there if you can get HIV? But when there's discipline, you learn how to tame money, sex and all the other pleasures of life.
Seriously? You are equating money to sexual urge?Money is man made niggah, Is it only through sex that people get HIV?

Discipline as I see it here, is having responsible sex, which one can have with another consenting adult, so if he can't find someone to marry or doesn't want to marry at all, then he shouldn't have sex?

I'm not offended and I agree it has "rival" as synonyme. I'm yet to see how I am a rival to the Op. What are we fighting for?

Synonym means similar but not exactly same in meaning so the word, "competitor" is not applicable in this context. Even if it is, I'm not competing with the OP in any way.

Taking your movie analogy, the protagonist and the antagonist are always enemies. This underlines the fact that the antagonist/protagonist relationship is underscored by enmity.

Dude, this is not the best words to be used in a friendly, healthy or diplomatic debate or discussion.

Nobody's being dogmatic here. I'm only saying it might be possible to abstain till marriage. I personally doubt it but for the sake of young people like the OP, that's exactly the kind of message we should be sending them, not telling them its OK to bang as many people as they can cos God made sex for that purpose. If some have been able to abstain till marriage, the OP probably can. That's the message.

well, the Op is obviously not convinced that having sex or m.as..tur.bating is a 'sin', otherwise he wouldn't have created this thread. I the op like many others out there, is confused as to why a thing like sex that the body naturally craves for is seen as a big sin whose defaulters are condemned to eternal roasting in hell fire.
I was in that confused state sometimes back until I came to realize that sex is a free gift of nature that should be enjoyed by all. I believe the op may come to realize this fact someday. It takes a deeper search and an open mind to realize this fact anyway.
