Agricultural Consultant is available on the SOL and CSOL. I got my visa based on that occupation.

You can paste your job description here, so I can see if the duties listed are enough to qualify as an Agricultural Consultant
.

Seems like your job duties qualify you for Poultry Farmer. Poultry Farmer is on the QLD 489 list as at today.

Step 1 - Google 121321 poultry farmer, and read the jobdescription as outlined by abs.gov.au. See if your current job duties fit at least 75%

Step 2 - Read about the 489 visa well...just google it and click on the immi link. It is a provisional visa that leads to permanent residency after residing and working in a regional area for 2 yrs, but does not entitle you to centrelink or medicare.

If youare fine with the 489 visa...

Take a mock points test, using an average score of 7 in english. You need to get a total score of 60. You get 10 points for selecting a 489 visa, so all you need is to get a 50 from other criteria like age, work experience, english language, credentials.

If you get at least a 60...

1. Get your credentials and work experience assessed by VETASSESS.
2. Register for IELTS
3. Submit EOI
4. Apply for state sponsorship
5. Once invited to apply, lodge your visa application
6. Medicals
7. Visa grant

What are your qualifications?

Book your ticket for your desired date, send a copy to the OSHC your are using telling them you are arriving earlier and would want your date changed. That's what I did.

To all confirmed and potential migrants (also applies to student visa holders too)

I will be sharing a couple of tips I have gotten, since we started preparing to leave, in a bit!

Your credit history is very important over there. Almost everything financial is tied to ypur credit history. You can easily make or mar it. Establishing a good credit history will come in handy when you need to secure home loans/mortgages, car loans, phone contractscredit cards, personal loans etc. You can be denied a car loan/credit card/home loan/phone contract/personal loan application, if your credit history is bad. You can also be charged higher interest on loans e.g home loans/mortgages, if you have a bad credit history.

How to establish a credit history/credit file

You can get a phone contract with your debit card (Optis is currently given 3gb and unlimited local calls and sms plus data sharing plus an S5 for AU$80 per month for 2 years). Once you sign up for a contract, a credit file is automatically opened.

Also, paying your utilities, e.g electricity, gas, also opens a credit file for you.

Hi BossladyMo. Please I need your advice. What is the implication if I decides to apply for my point test advice after receiving the result of my skill assessment from vetassess?
Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 12:33pm On Jan 12, 2015
How to have a good credit file/credit history/credit score

Always pay your bills on time. Don't default. A default above AU$100 will be recorded, and stays on your file for years (5yrs or so). Some defaults below AU$100 can also be recorded,, e.g phone contract defaults.

Always pay up your credit card bills (if you own one). If you can't pay up the full bill, at leadt pay the minimum repayment as agreed with the bank. Not paying up your credit card bills is a sure way to a terrible credit history.

Don't apply for too many credit cards from different banks, even if you qualify for all of them, and don't make too many subsequent applications if you are denied...cos it will only start a chain link of denials. Why? Each crefit card application goes through a credit file check, and each file check is noted on your file. If you apply for too many cards, or in quick succession, the inquiry is noted on your credit file, and it might appear as you requesting for too much credit from different avenues....and each bank that inquires will wonder why you were denied by the preceeding bank(s), and might want to follow suit. Even if you were approved by the first applicatiob, and want to apply for another card from a different bank.....the inquiry checks on your credit file do not show if you were approved or denied...and most banks will just take it as a denial.

No implication. You will just add extra weeks to your processing time.
Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 12:37pm On Jan 12, 2015
As soon as you arrive, apply for your TFN (Tax File Number), so you can have it before you get a job (takes about 3 weeks to obtain). If you don't have it before starting work, you will be taxed at the full rate (although you will be reinbursed once you file your annual tax return).
Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 12:41pm On Jan 12, 2015
Child Care Rebate, Child Care Benefit and Family Tax Benefit A and B, are available to new migrants, as it is not subject to the 104 week wait period....other centrelink/govt assistance payments, are subjext to waiting periods.

Check the centrelink/human services website for detailed info.
Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 12:47pm On Jan 12, 2015
Medicare covers most health needs, except dentist (i think), ambulance service etc. A seperate health cover has to be taken for those not covered. Especially for those that have kids, dentist and ambulance service are really important.

A single ambulance ride can set you back by aboyt AU$3,000 (if not more)....yes it is that expensive! Full insurance cover is about 180 and above per month, for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids...so just subscribing to ambulance and dentist should cost wayyyyy less

Open up a migrant account before leaving, and activate within 6 weeks of arrival with you passport and boarding pass. The big 4 banks have a migrant package running...visit their websites.

Renting - Ensure you and the landlord/landlady, both agree and sign a checklist detailing the condition of the property, before signing a lease. You ron't want to pay for a broken door handle that was broken by the previous tenant, but no proof to show you met it that way.

Airbnb.com is a good place to get relatively cheap short term accommodation.

Get in touch with agents, to get an idea of their basic requirements for new migrant renters. Apparently, some are more relaxed than others, when it comes to the 100 points id ish and the rental history ish...which are both common problems new migrants face.

Treat your credit card like your debit card...don't spend more than you have to spare in your bank account per month. Except for expenses like car loans, phone contracts and home loans/mortgages...don't rack up debt.
