he had an excellent game but he should be more clinical. he feels pressured to score all the time and his overzealousness screws up his accuracy.

he shoulda scored that header - he aimed it too close to rob green. the first chance was instinctive, nothing he coulda done. the 3rd chance was slightly deflected away from his path & the 4th opportunity was a poor cross, falcao wasn't ever going to reach that.

Why was the world class mata withdrawn(mata was shyte) just like the coach and the team in general. Thanks to Rooney to Valencia and fellaini, we would have droPped points again. Dimaria has no business starting for united with his amateurish game play in the past couple of games. If we concede na rooney, if evans slips up na rooney, if the goal post denies united na rooney yet LVG dare not bench him, can we see the pass rates of other players to compare.

all the names you mentioned have had long lay offs due to niggling injuries. besides, even though we can agree that the footie was beautiful then, we were conceding far too many chances & that was what convinced LVG that we don't control games enough.

so he switched to a formation that gives us control throughout the entire 90 & not the one where we play extremely good for 60 mins & become shytë in the last 30. 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 is a possession formation but unfortunately, we don't create enough with the heap of possession we have.

if this is it, what is Ander Herrera doing on the bench? the lad has been fit for about 3 weeks now - exactly the 'pass & move into space' kinda player. if paired with Blind, di Maria & Valencia like we used to see in the diamond, the movement is slick & penetration is guaranteed.

herrera can't play cos rooney must always feature. you have carrick, blind & mata in the team. where will anders fit? di maria is also more effective in the middle of the pack more than the flanks - the middle area is already saturated.

99% pass completion limits your opponent from hurting you though. that was barca under pep. you see so little of the ball to hurt barca. that's the philosophy LVG wants to impart here but we lack the surgical finishing of barca.......

to be fair to LVG, his observation was spot on.
we really struggled to win games after the city defeat. we play well for 45-60 mins & the quality just dropped to near zero - allowing opponents to nick a goal and cause a scare. de gea was making 8 top saves per game. LVG knew he couldn't continue to ride his luck, so he tweaked the formation.

If CMF is gonna be rooney's new role (since it seems he can't get to play in advanced positions any longer and Ofcourse, he must play), me thinks the idea of paying big money for a Vidal, strootman or pogba might as well be jettisoned.. How are we even sure Rooney won't take hummel's place at CB If we eventually settle for the German?

@bolded,LVG stubbornly played Di Maria out of position and he struggled. Di Maria is a dangerous winger and can play through the middle! It's all LVG's fault. Let him utilise Di Maria well!

Louis van Gaal is just terrible. It is okay to experiment, but foolish to continue when it's destructive.

With the way LvG is beginning to field players out of their natural/best position(case in point,Di Maria playing as a CF,Rooney,a jack of all trade,not even sure of his best position),me think he is trying to infuse Johan Cruyf's concept of total football.
