The 1999 constitution does not require a certificate. The principal report and recommendation is enough evidence of education to school certificate level. WAEC is just one of the prove but not d only prove. because WAEC needs evidence of ur education b4 you can write WAEC. Again all one needs to have a waec certificate is just one D8.

Read 1999 Constitution below.

The 1999 Constitution is explicit in its interpretation of Section 131 of the 1999 Constitution by Section 318.

Section 131 states: “A person shall be qualified for election to the office of President if (a) he is a citizen of Nigeria by birth; (b) he has attained the age of forty (40) years; (c )he is a member of a political party; and (d) he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent.

“In Section 318, School certificate or equivalent means (a) a Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent, or Grade II Teacher’s Certificate, the City and Guilds Certificate; or (b) education up to Secondary School Certificate level; or

“(c) Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent and (i) service in the public or private sector in the Federation in any capacity acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) for a minimum of 10 years; and

“(ii) attendance at courses and training in such institutions as may be acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission for periods totalling up to a minimum of one year, and

“(iii) the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English Language to the satisfaction of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); and

“(d) Any other qualification acceptable by INEC.”

But he swore an affidavit that he has school cert. He also lied on admission to the army that he has school cert. So those are already criminal offences.

If it is established that Buhari had been fraudulently admitted into the Military without the basic Requirements, he may not only lose his attained position as a Major General (rtd.) but may also be made to refund ALL the Salaries and Emoluments he has illegally received. And even get some Jail time for Fraudulent Misrepresentation. You see, Muhammadu Buhari’s Certificate Saga goes beyond the 2015 Elections, it goes way beyond Parochialism. It is an Issue of the Rule of Law – and the Fact that Buhari is NOT above the Law. Just show us your WAEC result period.

Democracy @ work.. this it to tell how this administration has strengthen our democracy else Bh would have escaped as usual..! God bless Gej, God bless Nigeria.

At first, "it was with the military board".
Then, "it was destroyed when soldiers invaded my house".
Again, "it was 'siezed' by IBB during the coup".
Or you can "ask the US War College".
Finally, "he doesn't need certificate to contest for President".
What next?

Only the truth shall set Buhari free.
... But I hope he has the mind to say that truth.

According to Buhari.

can a man defraud the army to raise to the rank of Head of state without minimum entry qualification?

if this is true..

this is the height of corruption!!

no wonder GEJ said mere stealing is not corruption compared to a "general" without SSCE/ WAEC.

Chai Nigerians and gullibility. You all have been schooled in the art of media and advertisement. If you check google you will discover that searches tagged buhari and certificate is probably the most highly carried out search on google at this point. I indeed duff my hat to Buharis campaign team. They have succeeded in drawing the attention of the entire Nigeria to Buhari and now with Buharis media address this morning a master hand will be dealt which would body slam PDP and all their rantings and successfully show the hand of PDP in all this and secure die hard GMB supporters and surely ensure a mass defection from GEJ to GMB by all and sundry.

Watch and see if I am not speaking the truth or not. This is a master stroke by APC and amaechi who fully understands the mentality of PDP and Jonathan. I want to believe that PDP just says anything without first thinking it through and then later come out to do damage control when it all backfires such as this would.
