1st of all, make I introduce myself. King kObOkO na male-feminist. Pls feel free to google "male-feminist king koboko" to find my former post online explainin my position or reason or definiton for/of my male-feminism.
So I read one post by MzNelly here on why a woman must never toast a man & I was disappointed with her reasons.
Thinkin about it, I discovered that the only one reason, in my opinion, why women like MzNelly will ever feel comfortable to toast a man is if that man is a celebrity. Isn't it ironic that when it comes to celebrities or stars, most women forget about their many reasons not to toast a man? Think about it, my people.
Why do most women (includin women lik MzNelly) who oppose the idea of women makin the 1st move of toastin a man feel it is ok to approach celebrities and toast them fearlessly or shamelessly?
Why the double standards?
I think a woman should have the courage to walk up to a man she likes and at least initiate the relationship by introducing herself instead of dying in silence. Or are women like MzNelly subconciously agreeing to the belief that women should be seen not heard?
I know its the feminine thing for women to show greenlight to a man. But what if all the greenlight in the world isnt working & u know this is a man who deserves ur love? This is the man of ur dreams. Why not take the risk? Why not take a leap of faith? Will his saying "No!" be the end of the world? Nawa o!
Besides, a man may have been burnt so many times by the "No!" "No!" "No!" of Nigerian women that he loses interest in wooing a Nigerian woman any more. Do u know that such a guy would see a Nigerian woman approachin him 1st as a breath of fresh air and a better evidence of her "Yes!"? Everybody know Naija women too dey do unnecesary shakara.
Personally, I would appreciate a woman who can walk up to me & confess that she likes me. She has commited no crime in a 21st century Africa! She is a woman amongst women if u ask me.
Nevertheless, I only caution women not to make the 1st move on a man who is notorious for mocking women who toast him 1st. Such men still live in the nineteenth century & do not deserve a 21st century woman.
Wait! Wait! Wait o! I even bet that a bible-era woman would look at a woman who can toast a man with envy. Because those days, women were silenced by a male-dominated world & thus died in silence.
So wetin una think about this matter? I don talk my own. Make una talk una own o! *winks*
