he needs to get rooney out of the midfield. di maria must be tired of rooney refusing to make forward passes & preferring square & backward passing all the time.

our forwards are lacking the required service. i am tired of rooney sending the ball to the right channel - those passes are slow & shïtty. the receiver must wait 5 seconds for the ball to arrive, chest it and control the ball. by then, the opponents have regrouped.

he wasn't even supposed to play - jones got injured. a player who wasn't expecting to play that early suddenly got thrusted next to evans the fool. of course, the performance would be shaky.

However, with the immense departure of falcao and RVP obviously on a steady decline, I am of the opinion that we need to sign a decent Striker next season. Smalling came up SMALL in defense, Ings ran RINGS round him all day.
Watch the first goal it was a simple OUT and IN run by Ings that discombobulated Smalling and left Ings with a free header.
Not to talk of his yeye pass competition with Evans, then one if one adds his "lago epon" that gifted Ings with another simple tap in that DDG saved then it is easy to see how rubbish he was in defense.

This is not a Jones vs Smalling issue, however it is clear that Smalling is not the answer to our defensive shambles.

i would be more concerned how we allowed the cross to get into the box in the first place. any of nesta, vidic, terry or kompany would have been beaten in that same scenario. 1 v 1 with a good cross coming in always favours the striker. even if smalling got there first, there's a high probability of putting the ball in his own net as he would be facing de gea.



smalling is our best CB.
he may not be the A+ defender but who would be with the disjointed number of appearances. he needs game time to perfect his art. he's miles better than jones & he should be partnering rojo in every game.

* Barcelona average pass accuracy this season is 88%, Messi is 83%. Messi is -5 from his Barca's team pass accuracy. Messi

* Argentina average pass accuracy at the world cup was 84%. Messi's overall average pass accuracy at the world cup was 80%. -4 from his team.
* Out of 22 players Barca has used this season, Messi is 18th on the pass accuracy list. He is only better than Claudio, Hadaddi, Neyman and the very last Suarez.

* In the particular match we are talking about, Messi was 9th in the Argentina team in terms of pass accuracy.

To make Sneijer's matter worse, he was -3 from Netherland's pass accuracy in this particular match with Argentina and he finished 11th in the pass accuracy chart. Messi finished -1 off his team's average. Sneidjer was poo.

Ings beat him with the same basic move all day long. IN and OUT or the reverse and he wasn't even subtle about it, it was so basic. Smalling's intelligence is not the best and saying he is our best defender says more about the state of our defense than it does about the quality of his defending.

you cannot rate the pass accuracy of a degen defender and a striker. defenders generally have a high passing accuracy. they pass it in low pressure zones. if you expect messi & pique to have the same passing stat then you are a retärd!

Rooney had just minus two from England's average while Sneidjer had minus 3 from Netherland's. Rooney had 82% while Sneidjer had 79%.

LVG was in total control of himself throughout the presser. he never ranted or had his pitch dropping on & off like rafa. watch the presser again.

the long ball/short ball ratio is also a myth! we have always played like this but trust the media to blow things out of proportion. our long pass proportion is 14% & the media are running with it cos sam allardyce used it to rib united.

it was shocking when opta came out with the facts that our long pass proportion was 13% in 07/08 season when we had tevez, rooney & ronaldo running like possessed animals. none of us here would say that side was a long ball squad.
