These were the words of President GEJ which many have misrepresented

Asked about his 'Stealing is not corruption' comment, president Jonathan said he never said stealing is not corruption -
"The word corruption we have abused it and it's not making so much sense. I did not say stealing is not corruption. I made that statement in reference to ex-CJN, Justice Musdapher. A thief should be called a thief. Ole should be called ole! If you say somebody is corrupt people don't know what you mean". He added "A thief is a thief. Don't use the word corruption to cover stealing. Call the person a thief"

Hatred is worse than any sin one can think of. Some hate the President just because of what others have said about him. God knows the hearts of all humans.

God bless President Goodluck Jonathan
And with all what you wrote up there what has GEJ did to those found guilty of stealing so far? has he done anything? let call spade a spade GEJ is a thief, corrupt or which ever way he can put it.

The fact is that most APC supporter are daft, ignorant, unlearned & poor in understanding, the usage & application of english words hence their perpetual misunderstanding of GEJ usage of " corruption is not stealing". But if not mischief & hatred on GEJ, the man was explicit tonight in explaining himself & what he ment when he used the word "corruption is not stealing" in his previous speech. He gave examples of what can be termed corruption & what can be outrightly called stealing.

Well, I blamed him in the first place, when u lead a vast ignorant & illiterate group of people.u should learn to condescend to they level when communicating with them & use everyday words that their are used to.

This Osinbade of a man remind me of fashola. His SANship & professorship is questionable undecided

So in short Stealing is not corruption? You deserve the president you get. What a shame? And International society will hear this and will make mockery of the black country of Monkey as usual.

So because of PDP/Jonathan, we need to re-categorize corruption?

Nigeria is not using British English?

Prof Osinbajo is even more clueless than I thought.
He is trying to define corruption with respect to the Alleged stealing is not corruption.
1.No detionary defines stealing as corruption. In fact there thousands of things makes one corrupt not just stealing.
The president said how do you explain to villagers that somebody is corrupt and you expect them to understand you. Its better you call a thief a thief than tag him corrupt.
Because of politics, Osinbajo has lost touch of reality.

Mr president is correct. Going by osibanjo's definition of corruption it is clear he lack the understanding of what corruption means. He said it's dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power typically involving bribery. From Osibanjo's definition, Corruption can be seen as when u bribe sb to allow u carry out a fraudulent activity or overlook ur dishonesty but from what is happening in Nigeria nobody is bribing anybody instead those in charge go ahead to steal money without minding what u will say or do. They don't care at all Which can be called stealing.

Is Prof Osinbajo slow in simple comprehension or what?

Jonathan was explicit in explaining himself.

He stated that he had a parley with a former CJN on the incidence of corruption/crime.

He posited that Justice Mustapha disclosed that over 70% of the cases under the judge's purview were actually outright theft being branded as corruption. He was making a case that what people normally give the appellation of corruption are nothing short of thievery.

Instead of branding a public official guilty of misappropriation as corrupt, he was suggesting that a more apt or grievous term should be applied. Let the guilty official be addressed as the thief that s/he is so as to serve as a deterrent to others.

So what is difficult for this APC man to understand?
And please can you help your paymaster divine corruption for us abeg....What is corruption that was the question? maybe sleeping and waking up now is corruption hahaha

Inducement to do wrong & stealing are two different things. Bribery & corruption are different from out right stealing.

Yes. Corruption is carried out by those in power alone.
The better word to use is "position of trust".

It doesnt have to be a big political office.
It could be the nepa official taking bribe to make an illegal connection; at that point, the nepa official is in a position of powet which he is abusing.
that analogy u just gave now of a PHCN staff is bribery and not corruption. Corruptn is a very broad word. You cannot jail somebody because he's corrupt but you can jail someone because he/she took bribe. This is why you hear people saying "bribrey and corruption", and there implies that the two words are not dsame. If a person is convicted what he/she is convicted on should have a 'define name' and not corruption. This word called corruption is d reason while our politicians and heads of different parastater go scot free. Misappropriation of funds should be called stealing and not corruption which has no base

Corruption is defined as "dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery". The definition is simple and we all know what it is, yet Mr. President has spent the last several minutes of his media chat explaining to Nigerians what it is, suggesting we are all somehow confused about this.

The GEJ presidency has failed Nigerians. The facts are undeniable. ‪#‎ChangeWillCome‬

English words have no specific meaning until you put them in a sentence.

The president was not trying to define the term corruption. He was only trying to say that instead of using the word corruption to lessen the weight of stealing public funds, we should call them thieves. That makes the corrupt ones realise that they are in the same category with thieves.

I don't think that was hard to understand based on the context. Politics aside, why skew everything this man says.

Even if you won't vote for him don't try to rubbish his person.

The interviewers did not ask him to define the term corruption. They asked him to clarify what he had said before.

So by what he said, Tinubu is a thief, Alison Madueke, etc, are all thieves, don't lessen it by saying corrupt ke

It would have been better if you guys are asking how many public thieves has been prosecuted. Not this stupidd terminology application of words.
