From experience, this is d perfect way to deal with such outbreak. 5 days of very strong antibiotics before administering any other thing.

You need to vaccinate the healthy ones immediately.

Newcastle is a virus and it has no cure.

Immunize healthy ones and isolate the sick ones immediately.

The symptoms are very clear for you to identify the sick birds so I wonder why the transmission

has spread this far. Perhaps the strain is the velogenic type which is highly contagious?

You need to pay extra attention to your birds for signs of illness.

And be careful, though rare, humans can also get infected.

Iodastery is a very good anti-viral.....and you can add some salt to the mix ,it goes into the drinking water ratio 1:1
Re: Somebody Help Pls...my Birds Are Dying! by Nobody: 11:55pm On Feb 17, 2015
i will advice you to observe any fowl showing signs of it like sluggishness, anoerxia at the initial stage to be withdrawn immediately.

However, give then Newcastle vaccine immediately followed by antivitamins for 3days.

Keep observing your fowls till they thoroughly good.

As for the dead Newcastle birds, bury them deep or burnt them far away from the farm.

Hello dear; From experience, quickly administer LA to all the flocks, get Animal Care ''Neoceryl + Any good Electrolyte Vitamin, such as Pantaminovite, Aminovitalte, Vitalyte etc, combine both drugs for 5 days and get back!!

Dosage:
Neoceryl- 1g/1ltr

Vitamin - As indicated

when u say LA it sounds like oxytetracycline long acting instead of Lasota

It is a newcastle the green shit just confirmed it. I had similar situation recently. In fact I lost Up to 50 broilers to the disease b4 we could curtail it in just three days and that was this past sunday.
Don't vaccinate the birds now cos that will worsen the situation. Just use bio amoclin, strong anti viral preferably the popular one in green pack made in onitsha; add some frygen, tetracyclin and amazon to cushion any sign of fever and typhoid.
You can as well add any weaker anti biotics you know and embazym forte

This is soo true even from the egg size and the speckles on them.....except you bought the vaccine from an unreliable source.....where the cold chain has/had been broken

Re: Somebody Help Pls...my Birds Are Dying! by stagger: 12:11am On Feb 18, 2015
Not a vet but shouldn't the first logical thing to have done been to have isolated and kill the sick birds? Can't believe some were advocating you sell the dead ones to people to eat. Then some are making a mockery if this situation. Why?

Many Nigerians have minds from the direct pit of hell fire.

What's sweeting you? Your surprised right? Don't be cause I have a big poultry too but they are broilers not layers and I would feel bad if I loose mine too. Even when I notice any change in the colour of their stool I call the vet sharperly.

I am a Vet doctor, Newcastle disease has no specific cure as it is of viral origin, however the most effective treatment is re vaccination with the same Newcastle vaccine. Then supportive therapy using multivitamins . Id advice you add the normal vitamin c to the treatment and together with any antibiotic prescribed by a doctor for you. You should also ask the doctor to rule out avian influenza if this persists as there have been cases of avian influenza reported around and it happens to share significant similarities to avian influenza. Pray hard, I have seen a thousand birds lost in a day before.

In Nigeria, fake drugs can always be behind the failure.. It seems it would be even easier for counterfeit veterinary drugs to proliferate there..
Maybe the preventative treatments you gave were counterfiet pharmaceuticals.
