I will as much as time permits me to throw lights on this.though do need others with experience to contribute.
Its a biz you can actually start small with consistency and God with you in a good estimated time you are already smiling to your bank alerts.
Every average nigerian residence is your potential customers, why? Because they should own a car or rather automotive.

Sure you can import parts from united arab emirates, but it will pay you better if you do import from countries that manufacture such brand of cars parts you intend to sell

Servicing parts sells quite faster than any other auto mobile parts..though the capital used in starting up goes a long way to determine your profit as well as your point of purchase.

Having an indepth knowledge of the automotive world gives you a edge in this biz.

I will be listing some later. No one gets tired of making money
Re: Auto Parts Business, the Do's And Dont by sthugo: 10:52am On Mar 01, 2015
A glorious sunday all..

A list of most servicing parts that sells fast are

Air and oil filter
Brake pads and sensors if applicable
Pollen filter
Fuel filter

The above listed parts are the most sold, and all cars are required to replace theirs at a particular designated time by the manufacturer.
Which might be quaterly or at mileage intervals covered.

How do we procure these parts?

We will be looking at that and how to break profit margins and the market .

No one gets tired of making money.why?

Somebody should also talk about body parts like engine, doors etc.
Re: Auto Parts Business, the Do's And Dont by sthugo: 10:03pm On Mar 02, 2015
Its being a wonderful day....

The nigerian auto parts are mostly flooded with japanese parts due to their product(cars) being patronize by nigerians.

I will be using ford as example ,cos I love american cars.

You can actually make a direct contact with someone you trust that base abroad,go online get the dealers price for such part.make the person your middle man in every transaction.when u don't have enough dollars to embark on the travel yourself.

With this you are sure of genuine part and good profit margin.

Lastly create your market here by doing an attractive publicility.

More info coming up soon

Publicity goes a very long way to boost your market.

Other vehicle parts do sell as well like the transmission system, regularly called gear box,the engine, body parts, etc.

But actually the above will require good capital and they aren't parts you sell out fast,so ypur money might be tied for sometime.

Never rush into automotive biz unless you understand how the system works.

Good day
Its being a while, you guys went roaming too...
No wayo,no one gets tired of making money.

Lets look at the aspect that has huge profit,a more than 200%,if you trade well or even far higher in this fast returns auto parts biz.

Some call it mgbuka,I call it accidented..its far profitable if you buy it abroad, most accidented cars are sold out @ auction far far below the original price.all you need is get access to their availability, negotiate properly, pay and get it disintegrated to parts.parkage and import to naija.

You can buy a full car $500 or even lower or higher depends on the specs of the car and its extent of damage..you know when its accidented only few parts might be damaged others are very good for sales, the engine, transmission, etc.

Most times is just the bumper or body or airbag system might be damaged.

If you buy several accidented, thats a full shop and with all the parts in a short while you are smiling to a huge alert of profits.

Make the money..

There are sites you could buy online, but I dont use them often.
Its better you get a middle person to do it for you,who can actually negotiate and verify the originality of the parts.
Better still make the trip yourself. It will give you room for selection and negotiations.
Though what I do @ times,is go online see the price, then call my contacts to assist in buying and sending from the manufacturer or dealership over there,if am busy to make the trip.
I use ebay, motorcraft sites etc depends on what I need.
Goodluck

Thanks. So, how much are we looking at in terms of Startment, logistics, shop etc.
Re: Auto Parts Business,the Do's And Dont by Pchidexy(m): 9:47am On Mar 19, 2015
Again, how do one get contact?
Re: Auto Parts Business, the Do's And Dont by sthugo: 3:59pm On Mar 19, 2015
Google ebay or motorcraft...thats what I use to get the prices @ times.just the price.

Then setting up an auto parts shop the cost is relative, depends on the area of location, the types of parts etc.

But I believe a little above one million can put you on the business locally to an average standard..international is quite above this.

If you dont have such capital you can start little, having a makeshift shop and get your supply directly from an importer.a 500k can do this.

But if you wish to hit it big time it requires good capital, spanning from 2m above.at this level your profit margin will be very attractive and enticing.

I just gave a surface of it..the detailed would require more time.

Then as getting contact. Its all base on trust I must tell you. And someone that understands the auto parts,I mean the names and so.

First of all decide on the kind of parts you intend going into..then decide your point of purchase..is it from america, asia or europe.

After this get someone you trust that could help you negotiate and send the parts down to you.its now left for to decide where you know someone you trust.

As for me I use america and asia almost all the time.

Gracias

God surely directed me here.
Auto spare parts biz is on of my "TO DO BIZ" I have written down in my diary.
People are buying cars, yes! It can't be a bad biz afterall.
OP, God bless you for bringing this up.

My qusetion; you said one could start with roughly 500k, can that amount be sufficient to get scrap cars from foreign countries like you stated? If not, where can one get spare parts locally with roughly 500k?
God bless you real good.
Re: Auto Parts Business,the Do's And Dont by Pchidexy(m): 9:23pm On Mar 19, 2015
I would like to go into the peripheral parts like_ air filter, rings, gaskets, seat cover etc. I have a budget of 300 thousand. What do you think? Will that amount of money achieve a meaningful progress? Thanks.

How about going into sales of maintenance or suspension parts? Oil and fuel filters, spark plugs, brake pads etc
Re: Auto Parts Business, the Do's And Dont by sthugo: 1:27am On Mar 22, 2015
@pchidexy that might not give you a filled shop..
Secondly renting now is rather @ the high side,so you actually might get a small container caravan for that if its accepted in your area of location.
Lastly it will require you being very meticulous in your every penny.you can start the sales of serving parts
Re: Auto Parts Business, the Do's And Dont by sthugo: 1:31am On Mar 22, 2015
@tafrica you cant start import of mgbuka with that amount, but you can start other parts biz from buying from importers in ladipo or aspanda or any other parts importers location across the country

Amen and God bless you too
Re: Auto Parts Business, the Do's And Dont by sthugo: 1:33am On Mar 22, 2015
@mrsage they are all okay.these servicing parts must sell,so you got a good insight, cos all cars must go for change of these at various intervals.just chose the one you are good @
