Are those two cases the same?
Not really, I was only pointing out why letter of intent might not be necessary.
Plans do change. You can always explain yourself at POE if further questions are asked.
This is solely my personal opinion. No grudges.
Also, I only shared my personal POE stories just in case it might help someone.
Thanks.

This embassy pple are sensible oh. Take a look at d scenerio, u got ur visa in February and u said u were goin for vacation. Then 3months later u are comin to say u changed ur mind and u want to use it for birthing cos u r pregnant.

She can use POE like JFK where they don't really stress pple or better still take d risk and inform d embassy and pray to get d normal response

It's not going to be 3 months later cos if she is due in may m guessing she might want to leave this month or next.

I agree with Nita2103 on this. I remember that her moniker, she was on this thread a year ago...

Nita, her name is Chigoziri, I still remember clearly, that letter did her in.

Please let her go through New York and pray not to be questioned. You should also go with her if you can. You can then leave her there.

If NY is far from her destination, she can rest in an airport hotel (with pick up and drop off service) for a day or two and pick a local flight to her destination (I recommend South West airlines cos of luggage allowance and relatively cheap fares).

Its better to be safe than sorry, that letter has a 90% chance of getting her visa revoked.

Yes you can apply for B1/B2 via Dropbox.
Since your first time of using the visa will be childbirth, you can include medical info on the form. This is what @oluwafunkenny did and she got her dropbox renewal easily.

alternatively, you can just write 'vacation' which is technically true.

The choice is yours But I would go with option 1.
Hi Guys,

Please I have a question that's bothering me. I am due in September but I have a visitor's visa that will expire in May. I have the visa twice since I got it. My dilemma now is do I just renew my current visa afteru expiry via dropbox and then notify them of my intent to give birth in the US in September afterwards. Or am I required to apply for a Medical/Tourism visa instead?

What do you guys think? I am scared of being turned back at the POE.

Please help!
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by happytbaby: 5:02pm On Mar 04, 2015
Renew by drop box. You can send email if you like. (not compulsory, just have your documentation when travelling, carry any document u can

Medical/Tourism....same B1/B2 visa, if you have B2 or B1/B2, you can renew by drop box. if its B1 you have, please apply for one of the two i mentioned, you will be directed to book appointment for interview once you are applying for a different class of visa. Even if you go for interview, you will be fine, just be prepared.

We plan to use Gwinnett hospital though. Any experience to share as per Gwinnett?

Thanks.

For Gwinnett ,I will strongly recommend Dr Oduro. My sister in-law had an amazing first time birth experience with him..The only problem is,they are quite on the high side in terms of pricing compared to North side which is equally a good hospital...
Good luck

In my opinion I think you should do a dropbox then send a letter of intent later.

otherwise, you'll have to go through the interview process all over again and get hospital blah blah ready for the interview....my 2 cents

Bro those cases are not related.

Why are people afraid of contacting the embassy and rather try their luck at the POE?

I think Arik Air has a pregnancy policy that is not favourable to most pregnant women,i also think the policy on their website is different from what they do in real life. Thats why most people on this thread do not travel with Arik. M not so sure but i think it has been mentioned before.

Hi Guys,

This thread has been such a blessing. Started reading it while TTC and now I am in the US for the delivery.

Let me share my POE story.

Background: Visa renewal via Dropbox while pregnant. However, visa was used for Vacation before birthing trip.

Documents carried on trip: Email to embassy (just informing them since there was no change of intent as I had already used the visa), Drs letter confirming I am their patient, full payment Dr receipt, deposit receipt from hospital, registration doc from hospital, return ticket printout + cash (almost but less than 10k).

Airline: I noticed people rarely mention Virgin here. Maybe bcus some of their flights to the US require overnight stay in London.
Anyway for Virgin, once are you over a certain no of weeks, you need to submit a form to them before your trip. I still carried fit to fly anyway.
Checkin in Lagos was smooth. They asked for my fit to fly but that was it.
The flight to London was really nice. Due to the submitted form, all the crew knew I was pregnant and pampered me throughout.

Had to go through UK immigration because I slept over in London. No issues. Just showed them my boarding pass for USA leg.

London to Dulles POE
Because I already had my boarding pass, no one checked my visa again in London. No questions asked about pregnancy or fit to fly. Just straight to the plane.

POE in Dulles
The airport was quite empty because no other int. Flight arrived at the same time.
I was one of the first in line.

Officer: How long are you here for?
Me: About 12 weeks

Officer: How much cash?
Me: Told him (Under 10k)

Officer: When last were you in the States?
Me: told him

Officer: For how long?
Me: 2 weeks

He stamped me in and that was it.

No docs requested, no secondary insp. Please bear in mind, my bump is Huge! He saw it but didnt ask.

Coincidentally, while waiting for luggage, spoke to a CBP agent who was paroling around. We got talking and I told him I came to give birth. He said- that's fine maam.

Finally luggage wasnt check but didnt have any food anyway.

Physically, I didnt use the wheelchair service. Walked to get exercise and kept my legs elevated when seated so no swelling

Goodluck to all the mums. Please just be prayerful and honest. I believe it was God's favour first. Also having all documents, nothing to hide and using the visa for the intended purpose helps.

Justwise I feel it's a 50/50 thing. She MIGHT inform d embassy (which will be like 2months or so after getting d visa) and get her visa revoked just like Chigoziri.

Secondly, there is high probability that she ll scale tru stress free POE like JFK, Dallas etc

Someone rightly said that it's an obvious case of visa fraud cos she was so pregnant during d interview and her intention was for birthing but she said vacation.

Pls I 'd love to read ur opinion and advice as well.

He has 4 locations he consults from and he consults on different dates at these locations:2 in Richmond,1 in Sugarland and 1 is Houston. You can see the addresses in the pdf he sends to you advising of the self pay break down.
My wife checked the distnace of each location to her apartment via google maps and opted for the closest which was a 10 minutes drive.

My immediate elder sis had a 2yrs US visa that expired without usin it. She renewed via dropbox and was issued another 2yrs alongside her family. This she did December last year as she is heavily pregnant and plans birth in Houston usin Dr. Fagbohun.

We thought about informin d embassy but on a second thought I told her not to cos even if she renewed via dropbox, she should av used maybe d doctor as contact in d US but she refused. But I told her to avoid houston cos there is high probability of sending her back.

She went tru Dallas and it was stress free even with d big tummy in front of her cos she said she told d cbp officer she was there to av her baby.

So it's a 50/50 thing

Chigoziri case is out of the picture here, she categorically lied at the interview when asked if she was pregnant then later sent a letter the embassy stating her intent to use the visa for child birth...that is a clear case of misrepresentation.

Its not the same case with the one we are discussing.

In ma own opinion i'll prefer 2 tk d risk in naija dan 2 b turned bck @ POE! She shuld follow her mind sha. If I were in her shoes i'll inform d embassy. D so called JFK & Dallas u r pointing out, wat if she's nt favoured @ dat POE. Na one day trouble dey start oooo. Dey may b nice & overlook soo many tins. Wat if she's been interviewed by a new official dat checks 2 d bone. Its bettr u go prepared.

I think you should just apply for a typical B1/B2 visa. You can then include details of your plan in your form. Your contact, duration of stay and additional information can also be provided.

Though you won't be allowed to include additional documents, the embassy can call you for interview if required.

If you are worried about being denied, then you can apply for the normal tourist one, travel and reuse it.

Honesty is really the best, so I will recommend number 1. A friend was called for an interview and they apologized for all the trouble, told her it was a random selection. They reviewed her documents and issued her a visa.

All the best.

thanks for pointin that out. That's y I stated in one of my previous post that I cud not remember if Chigoziri was asked durin her interview or not.

Anyway lots of advice has been given on the issue so she can think it tru and follow her heart not forgetting to pray very well too

For those who wish to book on, etihad use travelstart or wakanow(hope I'm allowed to post this). This is because if you will do directly on their site youth have to do a multi city booking LOS-AUH AUH-JFK JFK-AUH AUH-LOS. you also need to note that there is 12 hour stop over at abu Dhabi on each leg and they only fly to and from Lagos on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. To avoid this complicated route, use the sites provided and just select your dates. Travelstart is better because you can input +/-3 days.

Urmmmm... to be honest I am very confused as to what to do.

Though her destination is Dallas Fort Worth, I had this concern about the POE experience and considering her history with ATL POE. The ATL story goes thus, she had already gone past the initial CBP officer but was randomly picked after entry and in the process wrongly answered a tricky question ( she wasn't employed then, this was in June 2013) and they prolly felt she was coming to work in the US illegally or something. But after long hours of questioning and clarification, she was freed and continued to DFW where her aunt resides.

Clearly, February to May is very short and like someone rightfully said, she should prolly leave in another 2-3weeks! Pheeew!!! (My head dey hot!!).

I am stuck with this 50-50 scenario of sending a letter to the embassy and just taking chances at the POE (though she'd have all the docs, evidence of funds and burden of proof on her).

I really can't mention everyone who has commented on this case but I wanna thank everyone for their respective opinions. I will update the house on the next line of action (after much prayer and supplication).
