@mummyprincess and @airpure I never meant that as an insult o, that's why I said correct me if I am wrong. I apologise if it came across as such. With your explanation, I like that you said you don't have to wait to be turned back before showing all your cards, so thank you for teaching me something new. we hear different things about answer only what you are asked, that's why I had that feeling. I'm glad I spoke my mind and got corrected.

@ ajobi
Other on this thread should learn from you. This is a very matured and civilised way to behave,if it was someo other persons by now this issue would have draged on to another 2 or 3 pages

hello everyone. sorry to take you all back to something that appears to be a closed case. if you read my post on 12th February, i am the chicago lady who was sent back dues to different misunderstandings in my application.

i went through hell on my journey back to nigeria and had to fly to the uk for some days to recover from some jet lag issues, before i went back to nigeria. i had settled down to having my baby here at home, even though we had one issue that was not cleared. my husband, just before i left for the us, had applied for visa to come and assist me close to the time of my birth. he was given march 4th as interview date. initially, we were contemplating cancelling it, since he wont be using it again, as he is not a fan of abroad travel. i wanted to reapply once i came home, but he was more concerned about my health and was not keen. but then on sunday, on our way to church, he told me that he had been thinking of going to the interview, and maybe use the opportunity to present my case to them. we finally agreed that i reapply and request fo expedited appointment, so that maybe i can go with him for the interview. the regular appointment given to me was on the 2nd of april (my edd is 5th april. lol). so i applied for an expedited appointment, but had to wait for reply. yet i went with him to the interview, but they didn't allow me enter inside. i had to wait for him at the reception. he got there, told them the purpose of his visit, and presented my case to them. the lady VO told him that i will receive a reply regarding my expedited appointment request. then she granted him visa, which we have collected by today.

guess what happened? they replied and denied me expedited appointment. they gave no reason. they only refered me to their FAQ which has nothing relating to my case. i gave all the details about my chicago ordeal, and explained that as the reason for the delay in my application for a regular appointment.
afterwards, i applied again without the long story, as we presumed it might not be relevant at that point. but then we attached all the documents, including the ones we obtained from the federal hospital abuja here after some medical examination. that was yesterday. by today, i got another response, denying me emergency appointment. this time the system no longer allows me request an emergency appointment.

if i dont get this emergency appointment, my baby will be sure to be born at home. of course i have no problem with that, as i have already prepared for her arrival and decorated her room with lots of stuff. but my question and confusion is: how could they have given my husband visa on my behalf, knowing fully well that i had problem at POE and so am not in the us? if i don't go to the us to have this baby, which is likely going to be my last, my husband will not be able to use that visa for the purpose for which it was granted.

is there any better explanation for this?

Hello dear, Please travel with all the originals while your husband should go with photocopies if u can't send him the originals through DHL after u arrive the US and if they ask him, he should explain that u r there thus you went in with the originals. A friend's hubby was asked for the receipt to show his wife paid for her medical services received in the US. Though the wife did not travel with him as she was in naija. He was lucky to have carried all. My hubby travelled without me to the US. Though he carried all the receipts/zero balance letter but he was not asked anything relating to that.

So sorry for all you are going through. You seem like a go getter cos if it was me, I wouldn't bother anymore.
Maybe you should relax a bit and focus on your health and having the baby here. Then revisit the issue after she is born.
This further reveals the mystery around these VOs o! They gave hubby his visa

@Ochioraumu, it's well dear. Don't bother yourself reapplying again. Concentrate on having your baby and afterwards, apply for a Canadian visa and the UK visa Travel there for a vacation and relax yourself wella.

Then you can try USA visa again if you wish. They might give you. All the very best . A child who has been destined to be great will be great irrespective of where he or she was born. I wish your baby the very best this life can offer her.

So,so sorry that you could not get the expidited appointment. I still believe you should still show up for your april appointment if you can since you have paid for it ,even though you cant use the visa for birthing anymore i believe its an oppotunity to give your side of the storey and explain yourself, they just might give you the visa even though they know you wont use it for birthing. There was the case of a woman tha applied for visa to go for birthing and lost the pregnancy before the interview and they still gave them the visa.
In the case of your husband,he can still use the visa for vacation, since its a multiple entry visa. I was given a us visa sometime ago for a confrence, but could not attend due to some reasons, but i later used the visa for vacation some months later and no issues were raised at poe,was just asked why i couldnt make the confrence and i told them my reason, which was i took ill.

I've been searching for choices such as JPS, Arlington Med Centre.
Please cud u ve kind enough to avail me info such as affordable accommodation, and do either of those 2 hospitals have hidden charges. Your experience there could really come in handy.

Just that u have to travel to Lagos.
And ur baby can come 2 weeks earlier or up to 2 weeks later u may still be able to risk it and fly with British airways or a less strict airline.
That wud be d last push book an apt in Lagos .

Hello All, my wife just got a B1/B2 visa and we told the VO that she was two months pregnant but we were not decided yet on whether to have the baby in USA. Now we have made up our mind to have baby in USA, do we still have to notify the embassy. What is your advice.

I suggest getting your hospital and doctors papers and costs together,
Along with receipts for anything that you pay up front.
Then notify the visa office with copies showing how you will pay.

I dont know about medical center arlington cos i used jps but currently their prize has changed to $15 with a 40% discount ending in abt $9k.the had an obyg package which i used then but its now only accessible to their tarrant county residents with a proof of eg landline phone bill carrying ur name and address. so u can try medical center arlington. As for the accomodation,i dont ve any idea cos i ve family over there.

i have tried doing that, but the earliest appointment date is 11th march, plus i will need to wait till monday to pay for the visa fee, and by then, i don't know what the new earliest date might be. again, i don't know whether they have strict rules about reapplying at the same location where your visa was granted, especially in my case where it has been cancelled.

i have never been interested in visiting the us, as there wasn't much benefit in it for me in comparison to the uk. i only developed interest in the us because of the prospect of having a us citizen baby. my last baby was born about 10 yrs ago. my husband had to use patience and persuation to convince me for this one, and i consented because of this us citizen stuff. that's why it seems i'm making every effort for it to work, because i don't see myself having another baby after this one. truly somewhere down in my heart, i feel it's a way for me to keep all the money i have saved for it. but then rembering the extent i have gone in making preparations for this and the deposit i have paid, i dont feel like giving up.

Dallas is not a very popular sport with 9ja mums and most ppl that go there go there because they have family there.
There is a 9ja woman in Arlington that i saw her email address on this thread that provides accomodation ,feeding, transportation to shopping and hospital appointments, all for a fee. Pm me for her email if you want to go that route.

I hope my experience helps someone.
I got my first Us visa is 2006.It was valid for two years but I used it just once spending just 7days.
In April 2008 hubby and I applied again and we were both given.By then I was pregnant though not visibly. The VO was really nice and the only thing close to pregnancy that he mentioned was when he asked if we had any plans to make use of any medical aids in the Us and we said no.
September 2008 I embarked on my journey to the U.S. and hubby was to join me some weeks later.Thinking I was doing myself a favor,I travelled with BA but made the massive mistake of having BWI as my point of entry.
The immigration lady had stamped me in only for me to pick up my luggage and then this border control guy called me aside.
See interrogation! He harassed me ehn!told me he was tired of liars coming into his country and spoiling it.made me lift and open my two heavy bags then he personally wheeled them away saying I was going back that same night to Lagos.he was breathing fire and brimstone.
Visibly upset and repeatedly cursing under his breath. He tried to call all the numbers he saw with me hoping something fishy would turn up but none did.
After all the drama, puffing up and down, his immediate superior who didn't even talk to me asked him to return my bags and let me in.
There was a catch though!
I was given just 3wks to spend as that was what my ticket stated.Thanking God,I wheeled my stuff out of the airport. This was some two hours after the plane landed.
To cut a very long story short,I comsidered going to the uk and coming back to the U.S. so maybe I would get 6months this time.
Instead I went online and found out I could actually ask for an extension of stay in the us.This I did and I was granted the four months I requested for.I had my baby, came home and still travelled with the same visa a year later.I have since renewed my visa and there was no ish afterwards.I even had to take a payment plan at some point and didn't finish payment until my baby was almost a year!
All this not withstanding,I have had a seamless entry to the U.S. and an easy visa renewal again.
By Gods grace,I will be traveling soon to have baby 2!but I'm not going near BWI ever again!!!!

For d uk it doesn't matter where u apply donno bout the U.S. but you can explain it was cos of the interview date you shifted location am sure a lot of other people do that, u can still get a date in lag for the 14th there about, cos just like you no one is likely to pay over the weekend,I think it's worth the risk.just pray whatever u decide on,and your case is straightforward cos ur husband has d visa already,go with his passport.for them to issue it to him sure they imagine u wud come for a reapplication.exhaust that option before u accept it as fate
Just my opinion
