A private company came in built a power station ( meant for street lights and flow of water) and Fash did commissioned the project(good) but who initiated the idea of private companies to take over power generation was it Fash? So please learn to appreciate the transformation agenda
Don't come online and display your ignorance. Just because you saw PRIVATE there does not mean it was a GEJ inspired initiative.

Get some education. Private Public Partnership(PPP) still falls under a government project contracted out to private firms to run for a time and eventually return it to the government.

It is a kind of private financing of public projects. It is not owned by any private company. The private company on the authority of the government, source for funds privately, build the project, run the project for a period of time to make their profit and hand it over to the government.

The two major advantage is that it reduces corruption and the government does not have to use public funds to build it.

PPP has being around since the time of OBJ not GEJ initiative.

With ALL The OIL REVENUE THAT THE OIL RICH SOUTH SOUTH Earns I am Dissapointed in those OIL REVENUE Governors.

Habba, be fair, which state out of ALL those south south(or even the whole Nigeria) has the kind of population lagos has to cater for?

Lagos is Not Pampered monthly with Billions oil revenue.
WHY ARE PEOPLE not objective?
Lagos has to be on its toes and even be innovative before they can generate those IGRS.
Appart from Population(which the federal government has turned to a liability for lagos, by leaving them to lagos alone to cater for), what else does lagos has? Is it not the same allocation as with other states.
Does lagos have special oil revenue?
You have to be totally objective yourself.

Federal government built 80% of Lagos.

Sea ports, airports, roads, bridges, hospitals, military barracks, university, other federal institutions etc.

Lagos was the capital of Nigeria until 1991 and that is responsible for the massive population.

There's no other state in Nigeria that the federal government investment so much on infrastructure.

PPP in the power sector was a result of the unbundling of the sector completed by the Jonathan administration.

Public power generation was an exclusive of the federal government until now.

The Lagos State Government (LASG) has identified the provision of POWER as a key area to be addressed if it intends to sustain its growing mega city status. As such, the Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) administration through its 10-point development agenda has identified the development of an energy security strategy that supports the state’s economic development program.

Lagos State Government established the 'Lagos Energy Academy' in 2014, which provides comprehensive technical training for young people in the Power, Public lighting and Energy development. The training school is located at the Lagos State Electricity Board premises in Ikeja GRA. The objectives of the Lagos Energy Academy are as follows:

Provide international- standard training in all areas of the power value chain ranging from generation, transmission, distribution and production of power sector components such as transformers, meters and control panels.
To provide industry standard training for young citizens and produce employable graduates.
To deliver medium and long-term social and economic benefits to citizens and society in the state by improving local content inputs, building local capacity, improving energy efficiency and creating new jobs.
Improve the standard of electricity technicians and professionals in Lagos State and Nigeria.
Establish a Certification Scheme - to ensure that professionals have received and continue to receive a high level of training and experience.
To establish a Research and Development (R&grin) centre where new technology in Power generation, distribution and management can be developed.

What can the Lagos Energy Academy offer?
World-class training facility located conveniently in Ikeja, GRA
24/7 uninterrupted power supply from Mainland Power plant
Multi-purpose conference rooms
Accommodates 100+ trainees
High speed internet access
Video-conferencing facility
State of the art classrooms
Power room with all the equipment to simulate Generation, Transmission & Distribution sub stations
Metering installation & repair laboratories
CCTV inside and outside the Academy building
Telephony system with conferencing capability

Lagos state energy academy is when leaders with vision sets the stage for the youths to take over and manage our future energy needs. We need skilled energy technicians to install and run power plants, build and maintain power and energy infrastructure and so on.

That's a world class institution...

So Lagos was a state before Nigeria got independence?

Concerning federal capitals, have you ever heard of Calabar and Lokoja before though?

Maybe you should step out of Okepopo once in a while to know what is happening in other parts of the country.

That said, 80% of Lagos was build by Nigeria, whether you admit it or you don't.

Stop exaggerating FG's investments in Lagos! FG did not build 80% of Lagos! How did you arrive at that percentage?

FG bridges, FG roads, barracks, airports, etc., now account for 80% of Lagos State infrastructure! And you expect me to believe you are being objective!

Try harder.

Why d attack? I only bursted ur lies. How many kilowatt is ur generator producing cos am sure e no reach megawatt, and where is d source of gas that supplies it? Gas supply from trucks or did u see any gas pipeline to the generator house?
Osinbajo said they will use tankers to supply gas to ipp plants, that's the policy thrust of the APC on power.

I know some people will clap and scream this is a novel idea.
Some will even come on Nairaland to state this as fact.

Unfortunately, Yemi osinbajo needs to be corrected that the gas power plants use is not the liquefied natural gas his tankers carry lol

Bros ...you sabi book well well. This seem to answer my earlier question on the generating plant I saw working and the streetlight stretch in Lekki tongue not bad though only hope its cost effective and can be sustained. Power supply to Lekki improved albeit the seriously fluctuating supply grin making it look like some Christmas tree lighting

Sodiumdawg:
[b]Now..... enough with the insults already!

Power generation is nothing without transmission and distribution.

Before PHCN Distribution was privatized, Federal Government was juggling all aspects of power production. Back then it was all their affair. now we have the Discos and TCN. The question now is: can state IPPs recoup monies spent on their projects?

Lagos State Government may try to supply Eko Disco and boost the grid, but does it get power to where it's needed? yes, they get money, but TCN can now route power to other parts of the country and Lagos is none the better for It!

With the people's interest in mind, Fash decided on a way to keep power generated, however little, within the state, serving key areas like water treatment plants. Now, the load such plants formerly took off the grid as supplied to Lagos by TCN is now free for Eko Disco to move to other parts of Lagos, while TCN are obliged to keep supplying the same MW to Lagos.

That, in the end, results in albeit marginal improvements in power supply which TANOIDS now claim as transformation!

I'm a professional who has spent ten years in the Power Sector, by the way, so choose your words carefully if you wish to debate the issue with me.

Don't mind them. Using tanker to supply liquefied natural gas just d way mtn, etisalat, glo etc use tanker to supply diesel to bts sites. Tell me what happens if d tankers are held in lagos traffic?

This kilowatt supply to street lights is what fashola is hyping and calling commissioning of power plant.

There are questions begging for answers. how many mega watts is this one generating and at what cost. If I billion was spent on fireworks, I wonder how many billions would have been wasted on this.
