Now I have applied and obtained USA student visa and have started my masters here. However I would like to get a credit transfer to Canada and I have contacted the Canadian university I got the offer letter from and got that sorted. Now I want to apply for visa for fall semester.
Do you think it will be wise to reapply in such a short span after getting two rejections? Do I have a chance to get the Canadian study permit this time? If so then what documents must I show to increase my chances to obtain the visa?
Please let me know
since you are in the US, apply from there online and there is no problem applying after 2 denials since circumstance has changed. If you applied when you were in Naija, this time, it will probably be processed in the US especially when you attach your US study permit (F1) to the application.
I guess you will have to provide evidence of sufficient funds and proof that you will be coming back to Nigeria after your program. Also, why you want to transfer to Canada.Try and also google to read up whatever you can get online. This is my humble opinion, all the best!

Pls are my chances of being admitted better in a course- or research-based masters?
Securing a supervisor is d major hurdle for a research based course, while u don't av to bother getting one for a course based masters. Overall, I think chances are often higher in course-based.

And what if the VO decides to verify the letter? Any false claim might earn you ten yrs ban, don't mess with cic, those guys ain't smiling o.

See dis man ooo..lol.... Verify ko, Verizon ni...u are right sha... Anyone who intends to add to supporting documents must be smart with it.... Non scientific research has it dat 70% of study permit applicants in Nigeria do arrangee document...The VO are so aware but they let most of d smart ones pass either cos its too coherent to detect or they just let it pass.

Otunba i got a question for you. I'm still in the application process with the University of Manitoba....with the deadline for the fall semester approaching fast yet i cant seem to get a supervisor that would accept me. Goin for a masters in Chemistry.
So ma question: Can i proceed without a supervisor and pay the app. fee cos i read a previous post by some1 who got admission without a supervisor.

ur chances are slim wtout a supo .. Social sciences are diff from science

Sometimes what we say on the internet can determine a lot of things , do you guys think the VO's don't read the forums? When applicants submit fake or in this case, "prepared documents", it goes a long way in determining the visa approval time of Nigerians.
When citizens of some countries have 4 weeks maximum visa approval time, ours is 13 weeks maximum , and we want equal treatment from CDHC? There are better ways of doing things.
#myonenaira

I hear u sir..wat better ways?...give the VO wat they want..cover ur tracks well.... They can as well start looking for all schools in town to verify...u think dose VO give a shit about nairaland... No let me laugh abeg....

Hello everyone, I am kinda in a gamble situation now. I am on the verge of applying to university of toronto and mcgill university . What is left now is to pay the application fee which is appromitaely 20000 naira for each of the schools. But my issue is that how likely is it that they will admit me after paying the fees because I don't want to be at a loss. I finished with a first class in my undergrad course. Electrical Engineering to be specific.

With first class, I think getting accepted won't be a long thing. And you should know that it's a risk worth taking if you really want to come to Canada. Just pray and apply.
Goodluck.

Well, here is my advice.
Dont zero your mind yet on any particular University at this time. Start by making a list of all the Universities in Canada, then Proceed to check your intended Program and check the requirements (Which I'm sure you will meet with this GPA of urs)..Then proceed again to check out individual Faculty members in the department for thier research interests paying specific attention to the ones that interests you.
After you have done this, the nxt step is to mail the Professor(s) and if you are in luck, you will get smeone who is willing to take you on(This is another process in itslf).

So, Please dont limit your chances by only focusing on the McGills or UofTs..Spread your tentacles to include schools like Calgary, Alberta, Windsor, Waterloo, MUN, Sask, UBC, Lethbridge and others by first mailing Faculty members and see their response..I'm sure there will be lots of Profs willing to listen to you.

Best of Luck.

You dis First class people sef..What is dis obsession with McGill and Toronto?
Anyway, are u applying for M.Eng or MSc..
If it is the former, your chances are quite high provided you provide superb SOI, References and with your GPA..You should be competitive enough.
If on the other hand you are for MSC, Then the most important question is; Have you gotten a potential supervisor? If it is stated on their website that you must get one, please do, because they wont even consider your application unless you have a professor willing to supervise you. With a supervisor and the other docs mentioned earlier, you should be good.

As long as it falls under the approved institutions by Cic and has DLI No you shud be ok. However, I would suggest u apply to a related course since that course is a complete deviation frm ur undergraduate degree (economics), after which u can later move to ur desired course once u land in canny. To avoid a scenario of "Purpose of Visit" being ticked by d VO. Best wishes

I dont know much about Ottawa but I think Manitoba sent a rejection to someone on the forum some weeks ago..
My advice is you send the program secretary a mail asking for you application status to kmow if you are still being considered or have been waitlisted.
No news is generally good news..
