Yes research based. I had a first class in Mining/ Mineral Engineering. No much work experience, I work as a graduate assistant in one of the federal universities. Though I wasnt given any funding as all funding has been assigned , I knew the admission was over sure as I had a good rapport with my supervisor. In one of his mail he even reminded me of the deadline..lol. so I guess you should contact pontential supervisors much earlier. Once he is interested in taking you it doesnt matter if you dint have a first class n all
Pls wat skul did u apply to?

wow congrats! mine is still under review in department. one of my referee submitted his recommendation 9days later than the application deadline, i hope that isn't going to mar my chances. Am for civil Engr (M.Engr), how long did it take your dept to review your app?

Thanks
I submitted on 2/2/2015... Saw the change yesterday...
I doubt that will affect your app, if it shows complete on the reference area of you app status...

Hello house, Please I need advise on this. Currently, I am processing on schooling In Canada (Post baccalaureate diploma to be precise). About the home ties, I got a job of 50k monthly salary and my account balance is about 400k, I believe this should increase to about 600k by the time I apply, I have a fixed deposit of 100k and a plot of land of about 300k are these strong enough for home ties ?

McGill University

Good day, my brother is planning on going for masters in Canada. He knows little about the process. I'd like for you, if you don't mind, to make a quote from this post on the procedure..your procedure. I'll greatly appreciate that.

He was gonna use an agent..but I don't like the idea at all. It also increases cost.

BTW, how much have you spent so far and what's the fee? Hope u share

I hail o my people. Been too long. Plenty reasons for my absence but I won't bore anyone with the stories.

Here's wishing all TRV hopefuls the very best outcomes from their application. I believe that using this forum as a guideline while applying for a visa to Canada, tremendously increases your chances of getting it. Just thought to encourage everyone to keep sharing experiences and brainstorming ideas, it really helps.

Always remember, that every case is different (and treated specially) so don't use another person's experience to measure yours, instead you can pick out the details that apply to you and learn from it.

Meanwhile, please I would like to know how long it's been taking "visiting" visa processes these days (online and paper).

Thanks guys. All the best once again.

1. I think you can apply as principal applicant with your family accompanying you. Just that there's more requirements for that and you have to fill out the eligibility questionnaire on the cic website to determine them.

2. 5M in your account is as liquid as 100M or 1M so it's not about if it will be enough, it's more about if it's genuinely available for you and your family while in Canada. Few ways they might check that is by asking questions like, What's your source of income? Does your financial statement prove that the 5M is an accumulated amount over a long time and how slowly does it deplete or add up (the cashflow)? How about your husband's financials (might score more points too)? If the 5M is really available as long - term savings (or a fixed deposit maturing soon), I think it should be sufficient for a small family. BUT, I dunno the cost of raising a new born baby (non-canadian) so you should find out from people with similar experiences as yours.

As for the property, I think it just depends on how you can convince the VO that the property is now yours (or is tentatively yours). A will woulda been perfect for the job, but it just might not be the only way; where there's a will (or not) there's a way #NoPunIntended
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by tee12345(m): 5:56pm On Mar 15, 2015
5M too small for the 3 of you. Apply alone 1st. They can join you later. Look for a sponsor to boost your finances.

Please, let us be honest with ourselves. After paying your school fees how much is left to take care of 3 people, pay accommodation of around $500 CAD monthly, medical bills etc !??
Read back to 10 days ago, here, this exact situation was discussed at length and learn from it.
Its a long analysis. So do your self the good of correct and balanced info.
The cash is low, you may have home-tie issue etc

Exactly : "Always remember, that every case is different (and treated specially) so don't use another person's experience to measure yours.."
We have seen some successful application as fast as around a week for online route a few weeks ago and we have also seen around 7 weeks.
It fluctuates depending on many variables.
A fast sample is : https://www.nairaland.com/2035081/travelling-canada-part-7/157
There was a much faster one

Your surest bet is to check Exclusive rentals for accommodation close to school. If you need some direction or assistance about your choice of location let me know.

Hi Mo! I will be heading to Humber College dis September. Please do you have idea how I can get a cheap accommodation?

Long time bro, thought you were headed to Brandon?

Usually, there is an admission review committee to see if an applicant meets the University's minimum entry requirements e.g GPA(3.00/4.00), GRE/Toefl, GMAT..if such applicant meets the requirements then the application is forwarded to the department for review and consideration (Usually for MSC, They look at the intended research in light of the department's available funds, supervisor, Transcripts and recommendations) but in your case I believe your SOP, Recommendations and transcript should do.
Usually too there is no interview for Masters Applicants..Most interviews from Toronto were for doctoral applicants so you may not need to bother abt that.
An offer of admission will be made, but formal acceptance will only the given after you have had your Official sealed transcript sent to them..The one you uploaded should be enough for now..
Kep in Mind you applied to the best Uni (By QS ranking) in canada, so kep the faith, as admission is crazy competitive.
All d best..
Thanks a lot for this info.

Good evening y'all, I see no one answered my first question above. Here's another one, this time concerning me. Since my bro will be going to Canada for pg, my dad thought it'd nice I tagged along for my undergraduate study. Mind you, I took Jamb yesterday (still awaiting my result) and I've also been given admission to Oau last year(strike tinx pushed resumption date to may 3).

Question is, do I have to sit for an external exam like SAT and ko? I have a GCE result..is it valid for the process?
