Well, the problem is that legally and ethically I really can't tell you a definite yes or no based on what we're writing here in Nairaland. Without seeing the case in front of me and talking to people, I can't get the whole story, and there might be an important detail that would change everything...

Your best bet is to do a lot of research. http://travel.state.gov/content/adoptionsabroad/en.html is a good place to start.
Thanks ma, I will look into that website right away.

No, you're fine. As long as she's domiciled in the U.S., and it sounds like she is, you're good to go.

Per our website, The following items are not permitted on the premises of the United States Embassy or Consulate:
Weapons of any kind or size, sharp metal or glass objects, razor blades, liquids, bottles, powdery substances, umbrellas and electronic or battery-operated equipment (including cell phones, radios, tape recorders, cameras, personal digital assistants, computers). If you have any of these items, you will not be permitted to enter the facility.

It's likely that your wife has already paid the visa interview fee. If you're comfortable sharing your case number, I can look it up.

Here ma'am LGS2014537016. Kindly help me look up the payment status

On Fridays if you show up to drop off documents, you don't need an appointment. But please remember that we are closed on holidays and on the last Friday of the month. You can also use the attached form to drop those documents off at the collection center, any time.

Dear VO,
I appreciate all the advice given on this forum.

Something to note is that- My mum's current visa expires on the 16th may 2015 and old Passport expires September 2015- to that effect, she went to get a new Nigerian passport. It is with that new passport that she has applied to renew her visa(she included both passports in her drop box application)

My case - My mother applied to review her B1/B2 via drop box on March 13th, as of Monday the 23rd her status showed:
Case Creation Date:18-Mar-2015
Status Updated Date: 19-Mar-2015
Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing

As of today March 25th, her case is now showing:
Case Creation Date:18-Mar-2015
Status Updated Date: 25-Mar-2015
Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing

We are a little worried because when my dad applied to renew via drop box last year, his got an alert in 2days to pick up his visa. My mother has been to the U.S about 4 times and have never overstayed her visa. This is her second renewal of visa.

What should we do and thank you in advace for your response.- I can provide you with the case ID# if you want me to.

Good morning ma,

Thanks for your help yesterday, it's greatly appreciated. Please just a quick question here, how do i get into the consulate since i don't have a written appointment letter with me? What documents do i come with for the follow-up interview, and also my medical report is expiring in few weeks time. Please kindly advise.

Your name is on the appointment list for April 2. Don't get a new medical report yet. If you have additional evidence of your relationship, especially evidence from after your initial interview, it's likely a good idea to bring it with you.

I applied for a B1/B2 VISA in 2011 and my passport was said to be not qualified to be used for the application so,i was asked to get another one. I claimed I knew no one at that time and when I applied again an agent which I employed his services prepared my documents and got someone to invite me ,claiming that he is my uncle . That same application was denied even though i answered all questions asked. I have applied again and was refused because I couldn't give details of my claimed relative in the US. What can I do to come clean regarding the false information I gave about the uncle of mine I never had living in the US because something tells me its on that basis am been consistently refused

Is the beneficiary married or unmarried?

Thanks a lot for your response ma.

He resent it and we have been scheduled for next week.

Do we need to bring originals of all the evidence of domicile or scanned copies will do?

He already sent scanned copies, as we were hoping for this week.

We are very grateful for your good work here. May the Lord continue to bless you.

1.Section 212(a)(6) (C)(1) - Misrepresentation.
2. You are eligible to apply for a waiver of the ground (s) of ineligibility.

I would appreciate if you can help with this now. as all the documents were in place real original documents i wonder whats the clause for?

Sounds like you should ask them to clarify the grounds upon which they made the 212(a)(6)(C)(1) finding of material misrepresentation. Hopefully they'll tell you, so you can either rebut or accept the finding. Good luck!

Hello,

I'm just trying to gather information so I know what to do when the time comes.

My husband and I live in South Africa, he's planning on going to the US for his Post-Doctoral programme and he intends to apply for me too to accompany him.

I would like to know if I would be granted and what necessary steps to take.

Your advice will be appreciated.

The visa category is F2B, and right now we're seeing F2B cases that were filed before July 8, 2008. You can monitor wait times at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/bulletin.html .
