The man amechi has nothing special on him. He was bullied by the first lady at a wrong time. Without the president been interested. The only mistake the president made was since he was not interested in fighting with amechi he would have cautioned his wife to stop. It was the opposition who opened their arms wide open for amechi to come and he has a dying man did just dat. If the president was a though bread amechi would not survive. To the topic:
For months leading to the election, I had often pondered as to the thickness of his skin when it was obvious that there was simply no love lost between him, the sitting president and his wife. Rotimi may have lost Rivers State to PDP at the polls but he more than made up for in in the long run. I disagree that he was a coward. Would I then praise him? For believing steadfastly in APC despite opposition and bullying from various government quarters - Yes! That is bravery.

If Wike could rig the presidential election, imagine what he will do on the 11th?
Wike might be a thug and unrefined character but his political machinery is unmatched in the state. The biggest mistake Rivers politicians made was underestimating him.

No one underestimated Nyesome Wike. He is operating with the backings of the President and his wife. That is easy.

Unlike Gov. Amaechi that went against the sitting President. That was guts and make no mistake, Amaechi fought for his belief.

Do not write Gov. Amaechi and Hon. Dakuku off. The fight for the Rivers crown is still on.

I am good at reading posts and comments then walk away but in this one I must comment that Amaechi has always been my favourite and action governor being a benefactor of his good governance in rivers state This man truly transformed rivers state. I knew such a man having decamped to APC, means that APC must truly be an agent of positive change in the face of the country.

I do not agree with you wholly but you have a point.
After 8 years, Amaechi has no political structure in the state.
In the 8 years that he has been governor, Wike has built an almost immovable political structure.
Even Okorocha who has a second term to fight for stood up to the might of the PDP and delivered to an extent. Same with Oshiomole.
For all his noise, Amaechi is a very poor politician.

I initially didn't wanna comment on this thread,but on reading ur comments,I had 2 come in to enlighten u.Now,my enlightenment will be basedon three questions thus;
1.Was Okorocha and Oshiomole having a head-on scuffles with the FG?
2.How big(I mean the population) of Edo and Imo state?
3.Were there any allege(wide sread) rigging during the Presidential election in these states,and if any,were they obvious?
These questions will answer ur rightly non-applause of ameachi's benevolence and determination.

You see, Rotimi Ameachi's father is a great admirer of the late Chief Frederick ROTIMI Alade Williams who became the first Senior Advocate of Nigerian SAN.So, when he gave birth to Ameachi, he named him after that great lawyer and that explains the name " Rotimi". The lawyer died in 2005 at the age of 84.

A man that nearly scuttled the elections and almost initiated chaos in rivers state that would have ignited the whole nation... he faiked his candidate and his people so rejected him he went about in panic bleating like a goat... the next thing, the so called camp outside inec office disintegrates and he's in abuja beaming from ear to ear and taking credit for what the core north did for their candidate by turning out in numbers.

he succeeded because of the powers backing him coupled with security agents.
Be rest assured that with what transpired yesterday, the powers may have diminished a little bit.
Even if he wins, Amaechi is on his way to Abuja and he still remains a political warlord in Rivers. APC in the state will continue to grow without any form of intimidation. The real test will be in the local elections.

Yes the powers that be and security agents aided Wike big time.
However, it still does not negate the fact that Amaechi has not built a good political structure in the 8 years he has been governor.

1. Yes they were. Okorocha is fighting Ihedioha, the Deputy senate president. Who lest you forget is contesting for the governorship post. Oshiomole has Annenih and the might of the FG behind him.

2. What has population got to do with it? Did you see the percentage of votes gotten by APC in Imo and Edo?

3. That Amaechi could not anticipate the large scale rigging of Wike and his cohorts and checkmate them with the means available to him is an indication of his failure as a politician.
I struggle to see how you are oblivious of these obvious facts.
Amaechi is dogged, chose a corner and fought it. He is worthy of praises on that front. However, the truth remains that after 8 years, he failed to build a structure able to outwit Wike.
I hope he proves me wrong on the 11th.

And for those claiming Amaechi could not deliver his state, the game has changed with the latest development because all the federal backing Wike used in operating in rivers state will reduce drastically e.g the police and other military he has been operating with don they quickly align themselves with the in coming government as every one wants to secure their job simple.
