Been single with N75,000 monthly allowance is very much ok , that a life of hide and seek for 6months.... If u can have a good savings monthly from your N75,000 is what u can establish a small scale business from aside for ur normal job..... Wise up..... When u are financially bouyant. U can always go on vacation and holidays when married or even still single

My view is, no hard working and enterprising young mind should consider moving to the US without a concrete plan.

But if anything goes for you and you have no clear long term prospects.... then head to the US.

I normally say, if one must suffer.. then better suffer in the US but if there is a plan to make it big.... then Nigeria is the destination.

My question is why do you have to stay with her pendingwhen your travel papers are ready? To my mind, I don't think its a condition to cage you into some sort of .......dunno. However,discuss with the person and get your thinking cap on to make a decision. All the best.

Brother, you should leave this country. What will 75k job do for you in the next 6months. Do you know the exchange rate of the naira to a dollar? Do you know the economic and political stability of the US? Nigeria is facing a rebirth and which is painful and will cause a lot of struggling, so you won't be missing much. You have to take the risk, with time you will earn more in the US and learn more skills to destroy Nigeria's labour market.

Is 75k a good salary?
There is something called risk. Her decision now could better her future. Its even better if she goes there to school so she can fit into their job market.

A colleague of mine will leave his 300k job to do his masters and live there. Its a huge risk. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The story does not make sense. For you to travel to the US, you need a VISA, and that visa permits you to move around. Once you have visa, why would you stay indoor until which papers ?

Listen, even if you are in the US and your visa expires, you can still move around but you cant work and stay out of trouble, no fights, no driving, because documents will be required if police catch you for offences. You can even do manual runs and shit.

My advise is that you travel to the US and as soon as you arrive apply for a green card, but the odd is that you will not come to Nigeria for 1yr until your green card is ready, which gives you full right to live in US for at least 10years. 75,000 is actually nothing in Today's Nigeria but really depends on where you live. 75,000 cant really buy anything not a pair of nice shoes.

Your sister is not telling you the whole truth, if you are given 6 months visa you are allowed to move around unrestricted, so why does she want to keep you indoor again? What sort of visa is she going to convert your B1/B2 visa to?

Don't think of going to USA to make instant cash think of settling there fully and it may interest you to know you have better chances there, quality of life is better, if you are wise enough you can become a citizen over time.

@op, I had such an opportunity and in fact would have been packing my bags by now, but after weight everything I decided against it.
Some might call me foolish, but when I am ready to go to the US, I shall go in grand style and not as a furgitive forever living the dreams of another person (know what I am saying?)

I think it is a bad idea to reside illegally in any country. By doing so you open yourself to possible abuse. You can easily be blackmailed into doing what you normally will not want to do like prostitution or slave labour when you are an illegal immigrant.

On the other hand a salary of 70,000 naira for a single lady in Nigeria is not too bad.plan your life to always be on the right side of the law. Try to get a more paying job or do a business in addition to your job if you need more money.

My simple advice, stay on the right side of the law always, it has a strong way of preventing lots of regrets in future.

first, if u r travelling through legal means, u might be given upto 2years visa. u wont need to b indoors/ in hidding, even though u might not be allowed to work.
